Time to try these seeds that I picked up as freebies last time I was in the seed shop. First time starting out with BioBizz All-Mix instead of Light-Mix soil.
Added 2-3 cm of clay pebbles to the bottom of the pots and barely compressed the soil at all. I'm trying to get better drainage compared to my last grow.
My plan is to use Root Juice for 4-5 weeks along with CalMag. I will start off other nutrients just like in the Feed Chart for All Mix.
I might add a little bit of other nutrients like Fish Mix, Alg A Mic, Acti Vera, here and there just because I have them left over and want to use them up :D
First week with these new plants. This round I'm using BioBizz All Mix so I don't need to be feeding so much during the first few weeks (in theory).
I'm trying to water the plants significantly less especially in the first few weeks, and I'm trying to only water around the edges of the pot, with the idea of making those roots work a bit more to get their water. I've also not compacted the soil in any way at all this time and added 2 cm of clay pebbles at the top. In the past I've either largely underwatered or overwatered. Hopefully this time I get it right :)
I see a little discoloration on some leafs. Looks like something like pH unbalance, could be as they got their first waterings without pH balanced water. Seems a bit early to see this kind of issues, maybe the light is too close or too strong for this phase. Will keep monitoring.
Regarding nutrients, I'm using BioBizz again and will loosely follow the All-Mix schedule mainly using Grow, Booom, TopMax and CalMag, but also giving occasional BioHeaven, ActiVera and FishMix every so often. Just because I have them and I want to finish them. I hope I don't go back into over fertilizing :P
Humidity could be higher but I don't have a humidifier yet.
Topped both plants this week and started to train them with some stakes. Not sure if I will do a second topping or if this will be the only one, give this is an auto. In the absence of a scrog net, I'm using some stakes to try and spread the plant as evenly as possible.
Still watering very little and around the sides, with the idea of making those roots stretch. I'm still using Root Juice and plant to keep using it for a few more weeks. From next watering I will start to introduce BioGrow, BioBloom and TopMax and cut out Acti Vera and Bio Heaven for now.
Week of changes for these plants. It was pointed out here that I could do with a little soil top up to my pots. This gave me the chance to finally go and buy some fabric pots which should help out with my constant paranoia of overwatering and root rot. I've now gone from an alleged 7l of soil to just over 11l. I have placed 2cm of clay pebbles at the bottom juuuust in case.
I was tempted to do another round of topping but there is enough stress going on with this plant, so I will just focus on spreading all the different internodes and branches away from each other. Like I mentioned before, I am never going to just let the plants grow without any topping and training, the output is just too low for such a space.
Slightly warmer week and for many days I didn't need a humidifier.
I'm still using Root Juice and will probably continue even longer than planned. This is just an experiment to see if I find myself with a nice and vigorous root system once I cut the plant down. I also started to introduce some BioGrow.
Need to keep on monitoring these white stains on the leafs to see if they are spreading or if it was some early issue only.
First week in the fabric pots, so far so good. Probably not the best thing to stress the plant as it switches to flowering but we shall see.
As of next week I'll be switching to flowering with my nutrients as the first pistils have popped up. Quite happy with the height and distribution, even though it's still a bit messy and uneven, I really need to find a scrog net or make one.
Can't wait to see what the final output is :)
Went away for a few days and the plants were left a little dry but I think I got lucky :P
Started to change the nutrient schedule to flowering and still trying to do a bit of disorganized training. Some branches get trained, some don't, that's just how it is :D
Week 2 of flowering is over. Leafs looking a healthy dark green, flowers coming along well, and branches spread decently well.
So far the fabric bags seem to be working quite nicely. Not seeing any bugs at all, however I may have made the soil a little too fluffy this time as the nutrient solution sips out from the bottom immediately when watering. Maybe if I stop forgetting to water them and don't wait for the soil to be desert dry it won't happen 😜
Flowering is going ahead greatly. Plants are starting to release a beautiful fruity aroma. I really hope I am able to preserve this and don't mess it up in the final stages by cutting it down too soon/late and during the cure. I am still pissed of about how I lost almost all smell and flavor from my Purple Lemonade. Really need to understand what I'm doing wrong
But overall things are going well, no visible deficiency signs, no real overfeeding problems and the soil mix with All Mix and clay pebbles inside a fabric bag seems to have significantly improve my overwatering problems.
For the small space and 50w power consumption, I am still super happy with the output. This time I topped these autos (unlike last round) and it looks like I should be getting a good yield again.
The smell from these 2 is fantastic, and luckily, no wild terpenes that resist the air scrubber. Back having 0 smell whatsoever.
Still looking strong and not overfertilized, in fact it looks like there is a little of overly premature yellowing, but I will likely not change anything from the nutrient plan.
Slowly building up the Top-Max now and will very likely not flush at all this grow
We're getting close to the end. Humidity is back in full swing at 75% or more. I'm thinking about trying a dehumidifier in the room.
There is quite a lot of accelerated decay this week, I'm hoping it's just because the plants are coming towards the end of their life, but it looks a but like deficiency too.
The leafs are becoming yellow and drying but not falling off. Some orange spots that make me think I've been a bit too light with the CalMag this round.
Let's see, I may have been a bit slow with increasing Top Max.
Still set on not flushing.
One more week is gone and we are almost done.
Leafs have started to aggressively turn yellow. Still not flushing.
One negative thing is that the smell from the plants has decreased significantly, not sure why that is.
I seem to be heading towards my usual pattern of losing most of the smell towards the end, just to lose all the remaining smell during a shitty cure :D
Let's try to keep positive and see how it goes
@meneerGreen, I have purchased a couple of cheap ones over the past few years and they have been useless. No idea why I haven't yet purchased something that works yet. 😬
