Well I’ve just found out that Auto’s only need 1/2 the food as a feminised; I knew it was a bad idea growing the free Auto but because it’ll be the 1st to finish, it’s the one I’ve become more interested in. I did “top” my feminised and they seem to be getting that ‘bonsai’ effect which is what I was told I was looking for. My 5 girls will be put into 16l fabric pots this week, should have done it straight after the 2 week seed part as it’s a bit of a handful on my own. Let’s hope now I’ve flushed my Auto it will hang on; I imagine I’m going to need at least 1.25l of food a day when they go to flower mode next week and given they are fabric and won’t have “run off” the feed chart says to feed water only every 3rd feeding day ??? This sounds a bit much… The tips I’ve had so far have really helped, please ad anything to help me reach the finish line for the very first time

Given I mix nutrients with water; how much do you give them compared to your pot I.e 3L = 300ml or 10%. I’ve also been informed you need to feed just water every 2 or 3 feeds. I want a steady schedule that can be tweaked accordingly

Hello StokieNick, water between 10 - 20% from the pot volume. In your case I would give 500 ml each time. Let the top inch of the soil dry out completely in between waterings to prevent overwatering. I do prefer the water-feed-water-feed schedule where you just give water with the right pH in between feedings. This to prevent nutrient lockout and nutrient burning. Also water till 20% runoff occasionally for the same reason (once in the 2 weeks). Enjoy your grow!

Hi. Is it worth putting my 5 in plastic pots into their fabric pots ?? After all the advice I’m going to try doing one day where I feed them, next day light watering, 3rd day, water to run off then start again. Strange because when I didn’t feed for 3 days, they came on better

At this age photos or autoflowers I like to keep the top of the soil moist and bottom feed. When most of their water comes from the bottom The Roots stretch towards the bottom looking for water so if you don't water for a couple days they're going to keep stretching down there looking for water and then when they get it there's a bit more root to take it up

Don't forget that Autos will not tolerate high EC feeds like photoperiod plants will. They can go into shock and enter flower earlier then expected. Less is more with them. up to 1/3 to 1/2 the strength. I have used feed water feed before on peat medium grows, its not the same as coir but it is very close. it still worked out for me. When giving only water, water for what is needed, no runoff. Then get 20% runoff when they are getting their feed. Not everyone has the option to be wasting nutrients and I like to try and spread it out a bit. Ideally the best option is to feed always and get 10-20% runoff each time but its not always possible. when we say % on runoff its percentage of the pots volume. eg 1000ml pot [10% = 100ml] [20% = 200ml] and this is only if your feed is correct. Might require a bit more runoff to fix a overfeed. Good Luck!

Day 29 since potting. It’s a bit strange that my Veg week I can only add to week 5 when I’m at the start of week 3. Is there any way to change this and I’ve also got pictures from day 1 to present that I would like to add to the “2 weeks seedlings then week 3 is technically VEG WEEK ONE. Also my biggest pots are fabric and so don’t have ‘run off’ as it were so I’ve been using kitchen towels so I know when the bottom has absorbed all the nutrients

@StokieNick, yeah, the diary counts the weeks from the starting point as being zero. If you look at the other diaries, it is always the week number counting from the start of the grow. I find it a bit annoying too Happy growing and welcome to this wonderful hobby!

@StokieNick, best thing I could say is read up thru the articles on here and go through loads of diaries and get a plan together and see what works best in your environment, keep an eye on your leaves they'll be telling you if the plants unhappy or needs anything, give it a nice wet/dry cycle and anything your not sure about you can ask a question on the questions section and some of the more experienced growers will be happy to answer 😎👍
