I have finally realised that this experiment is horribly going side ways at the moment, however I wonder if it is due to the Winter season, growing outside or in my makeshift greenhouse, (when I say makeshift I mean, recycled plastic sheets, pallets, etc, I think all that aside, my forth cycle is going to memorable… currently I lack grow lights and fans, luckily I made my greenhouse self ventilate, though I am waiting for August(AwwDust) the windiest time in South Africa, if it remains standing and still self ventilating, I would consider it a victor.) growth would be slower than the warm seasons. To make conditions even harder, I do not have grow lights currently however an obstacle that I’ll correct, going for solar lights and solar fans, electricity tariffs are booming, luckily I use rain water stored in a 1000lt tank, no one is complaining water consumption, I feel like people don’t stress the cost of growing, if you don’t pay the bills and you want to become a grower, look for cheaper methods of growing, like for now… I am going to use the sun as my main light source, will get fans to induce positive stress.
My favourite baby, is growing as slow as a snail, but I know it’s due to her not receiving enough sunlight, but I don’t want to move because she has grown accustomed to the lighting condition. But as soon as I have lights, she will start showing her aggression when it comes to growth. I am caught between using a 100w flood light or 1000w flood of cause solar lights… I am using a flood light because it’s light intensity, I remember one on my outdoor grows during my 3rd cycle… was growing 3m away from a 20w flood light, that kept my baby in veggie state, and when the growth shielded the other brunches, those brunches started flowering. I wonder if 1000w is too much and will even scratch my babies.
It’s Friday, blue skies but a chill petrols the outdoors, amazing how in my car the sun burns and outdoors it hardly keeps me warm when the wind gusts. I am impressed with the amount of growth once again, she continues surprising me, unlike Unknown. I will be using the main brunch as rott that sprout a pair of trees at each nod, I hope she compiles before she goes into flowering, speaking of which, when I watch a lot of the informative videos about MariJane, a lot of growers switch lighting to kick start flowering, I think we here in South Africa we do have people who practice that act, but I feel a lot of us here in South Africa allow the plant to live out all it’s phases, to ensure quality. A lot of people are outdoor growers in our 9months of grow season, winter you can grow, you will only get indica heights whether sativa or hybrid. I cannot wait to showcase this tree when it’s in her last weeks of flowering, I myself will not believe the vision was achieved, growing weed is boring when the tree is in vegetation, not to mention I might encounter some male plants.
Monday’s Blue, it looks like she’s flowering but I am not sure but I will find out very soon with this coming week, the days are getting hotter and now an hour longer. I almost lost hope, the leaves were drying out, but with time knowledge is acquired and look at her now, she does show signs of going through trauma but now she healed ad growing like the rest.
Finally I meet you… she’s flowering and guess what I’ve done, due to an foreseen circumstance, going to be away for a month, and all I know is my babies will get water and rain if it does rain, Sad days ahead, however at least the are sheltered from the rising temperatures. As good as it is, guess what this genius does… you guessed it, i defoliated my babies. I hope my decision rewards me, I will surely find out when I return in September, I thought of getting my assistant to send me pictures so I can keep posting, however I think it’s best I stay completely away from posting. This will truly test my growing skill, not forgetting my building skill when it comes to the greenhouse, with temperatures rising I will finally see if this self ventilate design will keep humidity at a desirable level to promote adequate growth, I have not encountered any fungal or pest isssues, but usually problems arise during the hot seasons.
Can I just say, these plants growth and development have been awesome, in the beginning she just grew horizontally and at a snail rate, but in my absence it’s like she was preventing her growth, and the problem with Monday’s Blue, it’s pot was not filled to the brim with grow medium (alike Unknwon Strain), unlike the other 4 plants so it did not get enough wind and sunlight, but guess what, nature always makes a plan. Look at her now.
As harvest painfully crawls nearer, my own accidental creation is showing of it’s Prowse. Love the smell very floral, to a minty and sweet, with a slight scent of earth. She’s slowly crystallising, which gives off its scent. Like all babies this week, all I did was water and monitor its recovery from the intense defoliating session! I’ve not even poured any nutrients, but to lay it bare, I have not gave them nutrients due to running out of my very own organic plant feed, however today I should check if my new batch is ready to be used, I want to overdose the plants with nutrients, though it is not advisable however being a hobbyist comes with its benefits, I am not growing to sell, I am growing for myself and for the love of this very beautiful plant. Therefore it gives me time to experiment as much as I want.
I cannot come to a conclusion, when it comes to this strain it could be the grow medium, because Unknown Strain has the same vigorous growth rate in recovery and development of new growth while flowering you would not say i defoliated all these ladies on the same day, worse this is a 2nd aggressive defoliation which my other four ladies are showing slow growth and development of new growth, and this past eek I have not been feeding them any nutrients just rain water stored in a 1000lt tank.
Please note that the height drastically due to LST.
Monday’s Blue seemed to be ready to harvest in no time however I see like her mother she will take it slow, she even decided to add new sunleafs, she loves her bushy self with her thin sativa leaves. And with the pistils in abundance, also looking bushy, I foresee good tings here. I have found my soil combination and Monday’s Blue reaction, recover, development and forcing my hand to give Hera small trim don’t want the new leaves to deprive my existing bud growth, at this stage I should shepherd the existing established buds and not be happy I am getting new bud growth, though a good sign of a healthy plant.
After this cycle I am going to replace the current grow medium, so I can wipe up a new batch of grow medium with a better combination because I use 3 types of grow medium to grow. I use pig, cow and chicken… and no top soil or regular soil, this combination gives all the benefits I need, it will not clog up like clay or normal soil, if I over do it with the watering, and good in retaining moisture.
If only I was not broke, I wouLd get a home testing kit, and be able to test the potency of all my babies, Monday’s Blue has a sweet and fruit scent, due to growing in the greenhouse all 5 plants with noticeable scents cancel each other scents, so I have to hold the bud directly to get a more accurate waft to better deduce the scent.
This lady is most definitely a sativa strain, just don’t know the percentage or is it a well balanced hybrid.
I cannot get over her scent, however she’s sick and I’ve been neglecting all my babies. And I don’t know where to begin, I need to do a lot of things lately, and on top of things… I need to start hustling on overdrive, inflation has left me in the past, it cost $5.50 for 30 eggs, and still on the incline. Dam… I know I have not been posting consistently however I will try stay on top of things, though I am going to be leaving again, I will try get some one to take pictures, besides getting them to just watering. Let me know what is wrong with my baby, I’ve ID over watering, over feedin nutrients.
27 weeks in and she decides to reveg, I never could of expected that Lamb’s Breath would be harvested before Monday’s Blue, and Blue is looking so delicious and the smell, dam… the only thing I am loving is the thickness of the bud and it’s still growing, talk about good news.
Week39
Had to stripped of the brown dried bud, to facilitate the reveg, now she's vegging at dope pace, she will flower with the summer day cycle, and it will not be distrupted by change of season, she should be done with flowering by then.
Finally almost a year later and she finally retires 😭😭😭😭😭to emotional she did not want to miss out on the summertime heat and the beginning of autumn, 70 grams, the plastic bag is 3 grams.
Loving her… she is my 2nd best strain this harvest, the smell
