This is my very first grow, and I decided to go with the General Hydroponics 6-part nutrient feeding schedule... because I don't know any better. Anyway, done is done and we're going to keep plowing forward! I used the paper towel method, and as soon as the seeds popped their tap roots I moved them to rockwool cubes to finish sprouting and take hold. I'm growing in an AC Infinity Advanced 2x4 Grow Tent kit and just got my 4.5L humidifier in today. My ambient room temps have been steady around 70-71F and a constant 55% RH. My Controller 69 is set to 0.6kpa and with the humidifier in, we're getting closer. I'm still learning as I go and I will consider this first grow a learning experience ^_^ Last note, I'm going full dwc. I bought the Vevor rdwc buckets w/ airstones, but wish I'd just made them myself. The external reservoir for the system leaked from the water level gauge, so I can't use it. I ended up just unhooking everything except the airstones. Much easier this way, even if it's more labor-intensive. Wk2 Day 10: Update, one of the seeds' taproot broke away from the seed, so I started another seed in the paper towel... #growingpains [This seed ended up being a dud; it opened but nothing came out.] UPDATE: So, the first two seeds I listed here ended up dying a few days later, and I seeded 2 new Zkittlez seeds from Seedbank.com. I decided to change my approach this time. Instead of the paper towel method, I decided to sow the seeds directly in their medium. Instead of rockwool, I decided to pick up some promix and use that instead. Also, instead of placing them directly in their buckets, I've changed it to a double solo cup method. I will update you with some pictures of how it works later, but basically, it's like this: 1. Buy an off brand solo cup that's round, and then buy the name-brand solo cup that's got a square bottom. This is the best way I've found to achieve the gap you want because we're keeping it DWC. 2. Using a razor blade (box cutter, etc.) just shave off some holes in the bottom of one of your cups (you want 4 holes, check pictures for examples), I usually do 4, one per side of the cup. Once your holes are cut, drop that cup (empty) inside the cup it's going to rest in for the next few weeks (these are totally reusable btw). Now that you have the cups inside one another, pour some pH-balanced water into the cups until the water barely sits inside the inside cup. You want the promix to be able to wick the water up. 3. Fill the "grow cup" where your seed will go with promix and sow your seed [after you soak them or whatever method you want to use.. I decided to just sow the seeds directly after a 12hr soak) juuuuust under the surface of the promix (you could even just drop the seed on the promix and then cover it lightly with the mix lol) 4. Put the grow cup inside of the "watering cup", and you should have about an inch difference between the two cups because of the different shapes. The promix will wick up the water, and between that and the nutrients the seeds already have, you won't have to water again until you're in the veg stage. This is the hardest part. Don't mess with the seeds. I killed the first two because I got impatient lol. 5. What we're waiting for here is the plants to poke their roots out of the grow cup and into the watering cup. It's time to start feeding them nutrients as soon as that happens. Just before the plants get root-bound from being in a small space, just take the grow cup out of the watering cup, and then drop it in the lid of whatever dwc system you have. So that's where we are now. Today is day 16 of germination and the girls are looking great. Marge is stunted a little because of an unfortunate overwatering, but she pulled through!

With these plants, I started them directly in rockwool (no paper towel method or soaking, dry seed straight to cube) and the cube for Plant 1 ended up waterlogged, and the plant almost drowned. Now she's stunted, but I'm going to to let her go to harvest, even if she only produces larf (It's my first grow, so it's all just a learning experience at this point to me.) I moved both girls from the previous germination method to the one I'm using now, which is promix in a double-solo cup. Plant 2 just showed me her tap root out of the inside (grow cup where the seeds are located) cup, so I mixed together a 1-gallon MasterBlend mix (2.4-2.4-1.2) and fed her nutrients. Plant 1 is a little slower and hasn't shown me her tap yet, so no nutes for her. I'm using the AC Infinity humidity dome/propagation chamber with the grow lights and four vents. I keep the humidity around 82-84% because I'm aiming for a vpd of 0.6-0.9, and the temp stays around 70-75F. Day 18 is when I moved them both to their buckets. 4 gal in each bucket, so they got a 9.6-9.6-4.8 feed; will monitor for the next 24-48hrs and make sure they like it. Also, its measurement is grams/gal, not tsp/gal.

Today is the start of week 3. Recap on week 2: everything went pretty smoothly. Both firls for nutrients this week and took well to them. As well as starting to feed, they also both entered their forever homes, and both seem very happy and healthy. P2 is having some discoloration on her first true leaves, but all of the new growth looks good, so I'm going to write it off as she wasn't happy about no nutes for so long. All-in-all I think this week went well. P1 is showing promising signs of making a full recovery from her near drowning as a seedling, so that's great!

Well! What a week we had. The issues I ran into: P1 - I think I started her LST too soon because I had a few branches break on me. However, they didn't break all the way through and I was able to save the branches. P2 - I definitely put her through the ringer this week. She started off great, bushing up nicely and showing her indica traits, but then I got some light burn on her node 3 fan leaves. It was too far damaged by the time I figured out what it was, and I ended up having to remove those leaves. Today, while attempting some LST on the shoots above those fan leaves I took off, one of the branches snapped off, and since I know they're supposed to remain symmetrical I snipped the other branch as well. I'm not giving up on P2!!! She will still make it to harvest, just a bit slower maybe and not as lush as she could have been. Week 3 summary... it's all a learning experience. I hope I don't lose any plants, but if I do, I hope I learn from my mistakes. What I'd do differently at this point right now: I would have waited longer to start any training at all. I probably should have waited until after this end of week 3 update to start training on them at all. It's all good though, this is how we learn! I would like to note... P2 no longer has any big fan leaves, just some new growth still trying to come in. I'll continue to monitor her health and hope that she recovers well. Once those top two branches are strong enough, I'll tie them down to start a manifold on her.

The girls had it a bit rough this week. I'm still learning the limitations of plants as I'm new to growing anything, but I'm picking up quickly. P1 had 2 of her axillary branches on either side of node 3 break. I tried to tape them but the leaves kept dying, so I decided to cut that node and I'm glad I did. She's doing great now. P2 had similar issues, and results. She's just heavy indica so stubby appears to be her middle name, and her nodes and branches are all bunched up together. Note: I've decided to flip these to flower as soon as my 2 autos flip, so expect the veg to last a little long. That just means more chances to LST though! 😉

Hey growmies! My apologies for this guys, but as we all know (or will know eventually one day lol) life happens! So, I'm going to put a pause on my grow diaries, but fear not! I'm still taking daily notes (as I'm able to) of my girls along with pictures, so I'll update here as soon as I'm able to. This applies to all of my diaries. Thanks to my great community! ~ I will return.

My apologies for my absence last week! Here is Wk6 and 7 in one for everyone ;) Week 6 was mostly just selective defoliation on both P1 and P2, and letting them grow plus starting some heavy LST to keep their canopies even after topping. Week 7 was the fun training week. We started off with a second topping to P1 to give her a mainline grow, and we left P2 at only 1 top to manifold her. P1 has become extremely stretchy, and now she's to the end of the lid, so it's time for her to start going vertical. P2 is still a stumpy little thing... I should have cloned P1 and tossed P2, but this is my first grow, so I didn't even think of that until it was too late 😅 P1 is really the star of her tent right now. I have A1 & A2 in there as well now, as you can see in the images, so it's becoming a fun thing to manage on my first grow, having plants at different stages all in the same tent, and me with no other space to put them in LOL! I've discussed it with the awesome discord community hosted by Dutch Farmer I'm a member of (wassup growmies!!) and decided that I'm going to really focus on P1, training her as much as I can to get the greatest yield from her (thankfully I mainlined her, huh? lol) and just let the other three plants grow with just some LST to keep them level, or maybe I'll SCRoG them all. I haven't decided on that part yet, but it's the rough idea! Oh, today is day 47 of P1 being above ground, and day 45 for P2. I'm feeding P1 two gallons of her nutrient mix at a dosage of 4.8-4.8-2.4 grams (staying at the recommended 12-12-6 grams dosage per 5 gallons throughout).

My apologies, growmies! Things tend to go haywire in life unexpectedly, but all we can do is keep on truckin'. I've needed to combine both of my diaries into this one, lease forgive me. Let's chalk it up to new grower growing pains 🤣 All four girls are doing fantastic. The only issue I've run into is light burn, which I corrected. P1 and A2 are both drinking about 1/2 gallon a day, and the EC for all of them is the same. When I feed, it's always the same mix and I only top up. A bit unorthodox, however I have zero complaints when I consider how well P1 is doing. Time will tell, but let's enjoy the ride! I've had to stay on top of trimming P1 as she seems to grow 4 sets of fans per dlnode nightly, and P2, while much stockier, is no better. A1 and A2 have only received LST and two light defoliations to date, and both are 37 days above ground. I expect them to flip within the next 7-10 days, and I'll flip the photos when they do. I promise my next grow will be much better documented and consistent 😁💪

Final day of veg I did a lollipopping on the two photos, and left the autos alone. The first day of flower they'd both bounced back and P1 just took off stretching. I didn't run into any issues, and it's been a total breeze of a grow except for a few light burn issues. I'm actually a little concerned about that haha. I raised the lights to the ceiling and have them sitting at 92% power. Also, I changed up my lights from the massive overkill of 800w to a more moderate overkill of 450w with 3x of the GroPlanner Series O 150W lights. So far, I have zero complaints about the Series O lights. I tried to tie up the trellis for some ScrOG but I found, I really don't like not being able to lift my girls to check their roots etc, so I took it down.

This week was very easy. Still no nutrient issues to date with this grow, so thank you MasterBlend!! lol. I'll lollipop again in a week at the end of stretch, and supercrop anything I need to keep the canopy level as much as I can. Week 2 of using Orca instead of the GH Floralicious Plus and I'm VERY happy. The size of those mini tree trunks growing out of the bottom of those cups makes me very happy to see. The Floralicious Plus was working well, but I must say that the instant results from using Orca now is just impressive. I've already ordered more ;)
