My soil was shipped with fungus gnats infestation that I’m currently having a battle with. The temps have been very hot this week as well but other than that everything has been going well

Looked good til Tues. Noticed leaves curling up, dry crispy. Eco whit read 32%. Thought they needed water from the heat so I gave 1/2 gal per earthbox. Eco whit went to 35%. Max leaf temp 90F and ppfd was 260-320. They look bad today. The 4 in regular pots are looking amazing

don't choose the volume of water to give. you give enough to get the whle thing saturated - no dry pockets - and wait for top 1" to dry before repeating. ebbe and flow of a dry pocket can build up residual minerals -- concentrate it in one spot instead of spread out even if feeding at proper concentration / frequency. 90F definitely above optimal range and could cause tacoing and other symptoms. the extreme high VPD can make a lower concentration of nutes build up faster inside the plant due to increased drinking.

Idk wtf is even going on. one 3x3 tent all girls show signs of problems, other 3x3 tent looks a little better but only one plant is really showing signs of problems. Idk if the build a soil light recipe is too hot or if I’m over/under watering. The eco whitts read perfect. The moisture feels perfect about an inch down but they continue to show signs of problems. The 2x2 looks excellent in fox farms coco loco amended with Gaia green and castings. All plants are at 350-400 ppfd

why do plants in the earthboxes grow poorly? Am I not be watering enough? I stick my finger in the soil an inch or more down it feels perfectly moist and the eco Whitts have been dropping to 32% before I’ve been watering and settle at 35 after. Haven’t filled the reservoir yet.

Biggest burning from excess of N and shows magnesium issue too. Others had bad start too. Too hot soil for sure. 35% in veg is stupidly low, till second week of flower never drop below 70% rh. Generally looks ok, not a racers, but all goes well. I see no watering issues from plant look.

So I’ve seen this before on an auto flower run. All turned out with no seeds but I have 2 monkeyberry plants rn that look like they have that exact same thing going on. Am I wrong in thinking this is weird or is it normal for herm plants to have pistils and anthers in male ball.

Hermaphrodite will show both sacks and pistols sometimes.. as they are both female and male. It's not uncommon. If you don't want seeds in your weed then throw it out immediately and don't touch other plants unless you have washed your hands and then disinfect the grow area completely. Goodluck and please consider me as the answer so I can be entered for a chance to win grower of the month contest I would really appreciate your support growmie 🙏 😃

Now that I see how these girls turned out it was probably a blessing I had some herms to cut out because there would’ve been no room. Especially in the pc/ssh tent because Pcrit and Sundae Driver were looking to be the biggest plants before I found balls and cut them down. The humidity has been surprisingly high but we’ve had warmer, wet weather for this time of year. I’m not sure I would’ve been able to keep it down with a tent packed wall to wall. I’m just thankful for how everything has worked out. If I ever do two plants per earthbound again I’ll make sure to veg for less time. I’m hoping to give these girls another week but the weather once again is going to be warm and wet so I will probably need to cut them down

Why cover the soil in a box? i understand having a box to hold water for Hydro (DWC) but who on earth would you cover up the soil? Genuine question here, I'm trying to learn something new. I don't understand where the Pro comes from with this.

@Chumpkilla, these girls are in a shed and our falls are cold. winters come early. The heat has passed here. Later this week the highs are 68 with a low of 46. So I want the black to take in all the heat it can. But I don’t think my problems are resulting from soil temp or a watering issue. I checked some diaries on here last night growing the same way, and in the same medium and they are having the same issues.

Did you have any light leaks in the tent which could have caused so many strains to herm ?
FacelessGardens
FacelessGardenscommenteda year ago
@Ohighoan,okay did u also check that no electronic device in the tent gives away a small spot light or so, because thats how I hermed my plants for sure back in time 😀 ✌️🏻💚 ! Often its also just the gentics from my experience! I always defoliate heavy and also stress them on purpose in the end with cold water sometimes and my plants never herm from that so My guess would be not stable gentics or maybe some light coming off an electronic device maybe 🤔 I hope u don't experience it again Growmie and keep going I fckd up a alot in the beginning hahah
ohighoan
ohighoancommenteda year ago
@FacelessGardens, I really don’t think I did. Their lights out was during the night and I’ve checked countless times in the tent but there was nothing. I’ve narrowed it down to either overwatering, maybe heat there were a few days when the leaf temp got around 86 In week 1 flower, maybe defoliation, or there was also a day I accidentally watered with chilly water. It was 60° F when normally I’d get the temp to 70. Could’ve been a combination of all of it I suppose.
