Looking good so far with a 10€ Amazon full spectrum light and the cheapest soil I could get from Lidl. I'm using a closet wrapped with aluminium foil as grow tent.
Leaves started to grow bigger so definitely the 10€ light bulb is working, nevertheless I'm expecting to be much slower than what it should take to an autoflower to grow.
Took them outside because it was a sunny week, looking good so far. I take them outside as much as I can because I'm still worried that the 10€ light bulb won't be enough powerful.
Went away for 4 days so I watered them gently before I left. Because I'm using a cheap fan to input air in the closet some mold has appeared on the soil, but it was easy to remove with a spoon.
I'm putting them on the window whenever it's sunny because is very windy outside and the window acts like a greenhouse. They still growing very slowly, so I think it's time for an upgrade to a real grow tent with q decent led growing light. I wanted to keep this grow with a low cost and homemade equipment but I think is the only way of giving this plants a boost.
I dediced to buy a grow tent and a LED, and that definitely gave the plants the boost they needed, they've incremented their size and started flowering period. Unfortunately I'm going on holidays for 2 weeks, I won't be able to water them during this time so I'm preparing homemade gelified water with non flavored jelly, hope it works.
Came back from holidays and surprisingly the plants were looking great after 2 weeks without watering them, the gelified water did it's work. Flowers have gotten bigger and smellier.
I've stopped giving them fertiliser and did a root flushing 4 days ago. They are looking good, smaller buds of what could have been with the correct equipment and dedication but I can't complain. I don't have a magnifying glass so I'm basing myself on the pistils to know when to harvest. I think I'll give them one more week but everyone is welcome to give me advice, would love to receive feedback from more experienced people.
Some leafs are turning yellow which is a signal that the root flushing has worked. I've tried to see the trycomes with s magnifying glass but I don't see any turning ambar yet, the opposite with the pistils, most of them are already brown. At this point I don't know if I should harvest now or wait one more week.
I think I'll be cutting the plants in two days. I don't see a lot of orange trycomes so I don't know if I should wait for the next week. In one of the two plants some brown/black spots have appeared on the leaves (4th pic) and I don't know if it could be a pest that is attacking the plant, which is why I want to harvest them as soon as possible. If someone could tell me if it is a pest or not and if I should wait another week or not to cut them, I would appreciate it.
As everyone told me, I decided to let them grow for another week. I think I'll cut them this Monday, since I'm going on a trip and won't be able to keep an eye on them for a few days. Do you think they are ready now or that I should leave them even longer, personally it is still difficult for me to see orange trichomes but as I said, it would be difficult for me to wait longer since I am going on a trip.
I finally dried them. They spent about two weeks in the grow tent with fans at minimum power to remove excess humidity. The final and already manicured product has been 60g. I'm still curing them in jars but I've been able to try them now. The smell is a very sweet mixture of lemon and chamomile. As for the flavor, it is mild and does not scratch the throat, but the power is somewhat weak. For all the stress they have been under and the lack of light at the beginning of grow, I am very happy with having obtained 60 grams, it is very easy to grow and I would say that it is perfect for beginners. The total process from seed to finish (including drying and curing) has been 126 days. The total amount was 70g.
There appears to be some clear and little if any amber trichomes.
Use your camera zoom with a magnifying glass to get a closer shot.
I use a jewelers loupe to scope trichomes.
@Todzilla, I've tried to combine both the zoom of the camera and the magnifying glass, but couldn't see any :(, I'll get one better for the next grow, thank you for the advice!
Looking good!
It looks like holding off that extra week made them swell.
I’m doing a quick one atm how did you get on at harvest??
What’s your cut weight and then dry if it has yet?
We’ll Done though diary entries are decent !
@pifflestikkz, many thanks man, yeah I was impressed too from the buds I could get making that many mistakes, hope to hear from you in the future, good luck with your new grow, I'll keep an eye 👀
@Wazowskid, well done man these look decent too I'm impressed with the bulb used! I learnt a few thing on this first grow my next lot will be better 😂 I'll let you know what I manage to get off my quick one with a 600w hps. Good luck in the future
If we're looking at the same thing then it is just the colour change in the leaves for this stage of flower in this particular phenotypes genetics. Looks good
@James, Thanks man! First grow and I really would like to give them more attention but due to lack of time and holidays I couldn't, just surprised of how good those are growing making so many mistakes.
