Greetings Friends!
I'm back at it again.
I've finished my seed run and cleaned out my tent.
I'm going to do things a little bit differently in there this time. I'm doing a living soil water only type of setup. As well I am running a photo-period this round.
I am running Ethos Genetics - Purple Sunset R3, which I received in my first Ethos multi-pass welcome package. I am very excited for this strain. If I understand correctly this should be pretty similar to the info provided, plus one more back cross.
I planted the seed directly in the soil about 2cm down with the pointy side of the seed down. I lightly covered the seed 2cm max,I didn't pack too tightly above it. Then I just watered with aerated tap water. I know it's controversial to plant directly. We'll see how this goes K.IS.S....
For soil I am running a mini soil kit from BuildASoil with the 3.0 soil recipe. I'm doing the 10g living soil bag for this run. I plan to just use aerated tap water and BuildASoil Top Dressing amendments provided in the kit.
I also planted some wild flower seeds that I had grown on my balcony this summer. The seeds came from a native Colorado wildflower pollinator seed pack from a local Nursery. I kind of planted them in a ring around the outside of the pot leaving space in the center for the cannabis.
I am pretty sad about the light that I am that came with this tent. For seed making it worked great, but for nug production I am skeptical. In time I would like to acquire a light with more power. It is what it is, and it's all I've got for now.
For the plant training I am planning on topping training and manipulating to create the best canopy I can.

Wahoo! I was so excited this morning to see my little seedling disrupting the dirt crawling up to life.
Nice Victory for Ethos! 100% germination success with a direct plant into the soil! I had great confidence in these seeds that I didn't give her the pre-soak. She didn't shed her shell coming out so i moistened it with a little water. Hopefully she'll break loose tonight or tomorrow. I'm too nervous to pry the shell off manually. If it sticks around longer than tomorrow I will soak again and then operate.
I'd say it's a bit early to know for sure but, it seems this BuildASoil 3.0 recipe is not too hot to plant directly. I will keep an eye on the seedling as it develops. I have great confidence that seedling is going to be super happy in her soil.
Well things are looking good for this little lady. She continues to grow without any burns. I still have the cover on as I am having a hard time getting the topsoil to stay moist. I need to get some hay or something.

Things are going smoothly for this little lady. I came back last night after a few hours and the shell was soft and came off easily. I still have the dome over her as I am having a hard time keeping the topsoil moist. I need to get some hay or something. Eventually the wildflowers will cover the soil but for now it keeps drying out. I have some days off coming up maybe I can find something that will help.

Things are going well. The humidifier is helping the topsoil retain moisture. I'm sitting at 70f 67rH. I put in a fan and turned the light down to ~436.72 umol/s/m2. I am very pleased with this situation.
Stay tuned in! Thanks for stopping by.
Happy growing!
Just a little update to fill in the progress.
I am very happy with the look of this little seedling. I’m getting very excited to try some Purple Sunset R3. Hopefully this will be some good medicine for physical and emotional pain.
I got my fan control set to 3/10 and my humidifier set at 65 rH. I’m broke so I’ve just been using tap water for the humidifier. I do let it aerate for >24hrs. Hopefully that’s not too much of a pain to clean up later. I need to do a little research refresher about the air re-circulation necessary for this little gal in her little tent. Maybe I can turn down the exhaust fan and reduce the amount of time the humidifier has to run.
I think it’s fun to watch the wildflower seedlings grow with the cannabis. Probably not the ideal cover crop as they may grow larger than I’d like. I figure I’ll just prune the shit out of them.
I haven’t watered for 3 days. I am keeping track of the soil’s rH internal with a cheap little multi meter I’ve borrowed from the garden. I plan to upgrade when the budget allows. I need to apply my mulch though so I don’t run into an over-water situation. My topsoil is going too dry to keep the active growth I was seeing when it was more moist. I will work on a mulch layer this afternoon.
I have kept the Blue Oyster straw log from BAS nice and safe. It’s chilling in the cool dark closet in the shipping box with the flaps slightly open for ventilation as recommended.
I think I have lost track of my order of operations a bit, but I am having fun. I am very excited to have an organic grow and to learn as I go. Be what you’re about, enjoy what you do.
Thanks for stopping by.
Stay tuned in.
Happy Growing!
