Woohoo! Now that summer is behind me, it’s time to start a new grow. I’m repeating my previous LSD-25 grow this round, using the same setup as previously but using my own soil blend this time. The previous round yielded just over 1 gram per watt, which isn’t bad, but I’m hoping this grow will perform even better. Setup -------------------------------- Tent A tiny 40x40 cm tent that I normally use as a small drying tent. It's basic but works well and gets the job done. Light I'm using my trusted Viparspectra P600. It's a small, 95 W, full-spectrum light that is dimmable. It offers an almost even cover of light in the small tent. According to my PAR meter, the difference in light is less than 5% between the center and the corners. Ventilation A small and basic fan/carbon filter combo, where I placed the filter outside the tent to save space inside. I'm using a mechanical timer to control the exhaust fan since running it nonstop during the germination and veg period is unnecessary. Air circulation Regular clip fans are too big to use in such a small tent, so I use two PC fans attached to the tent poles with a few things from the hardware store. Electrical A WiFi-enabled smart power strip is used to connect everything electrical. It has built-in scheduling, so there is no need to use a separate timer for the light. Container I’m using a sub-irrigated planter with 31 liters of medium and a reservoir for 7.5 liters of water. Medium I’m testing out my new soil blend to see how it will perform compared to the commercial product I used in the last grow. Cultivar -------------------------------- FastBuds LSD-25 Auto THC Up to 21% CBD < 1% Harvest Indoor 400 – 500 gr/m2 Height 70 – 120 cm Flowering 9 – 10 weeks Genes Sativa 35%/Indica 65% Germination -------------------------------- I started germination by dropping the seed into a glass of water mixed with myco with fulvic acid. The myco product I use has kelp in it as well, and multiple studies show how kelp benefits germination and rooting. I also use some of this myco water to soak the root riot plug before planting. To increase the stability, I turned the plug upside down, made a small hole, and planted the seed after soaking it overnight. The plug now stands on a small propagation tray on a heating mat in my other tent. The light is set at 24 Hours with a DLI of 10. Now we wait. Edit: I could see the first signs of germination after only 24 hours, and now after 36 hours we definitely have germination!

D1. Boom! We have a lift-off. After 2 days, she has germinated fully. She is still sharing the propagation tray with the other girls, but I removed the humidity dome and instead put in a small humidifier in the tent and set the humidity to 70% on the Inkbird. This way, she gets proper airflow from the small fan, while still having a high enough humidity to keep a young plant happy. ------------------------------ D4. Transplant time! She is still small but I wanted to move her into her forever home. The soil had been maturing for a bit over a week since I mixed it and showed a healthy amount of mycelium growing on it. I filled up the SIP with about 30 liters of soil and used myco during transplant. I put both an Ecowitt sensor and a Blumat sensor to measure the soil moisture as I want to track as much soil data as possible during this grow. DLI increased to 13. ------------------------------ D7. We're at the end of the first week, and there isn't much to report. She isn't the fastest grower, at least not yet, but she is getting bigger day by day. ------------------------------

D8. We're at the start of the second week. She looks healthy but I'm seeing some burns on the cotyledons. I guess the soil is a bit too hot, as I'm seeing the same in my other tent. No wonder really since I didn't have enough time to let the soil mature properly. Increased DLI to 16. ------------------------------ D11. She isn't the fastest grower and she is small compared to the last time I grew this cultivar. It's still early so let's see what happens. ------------------------------ D14. The end of the second week. She is getting bigger leaves but hasn't increased much in height yet. Added a thick layer of rice hulls as mulch and increased DLI to 20. This is quite high for such a young plant, so I won't raise the DLI for the next week, and instead let her settle in. ------------------------------

D15. The new week start, and she is still tiny, lol. I hope she picks up speed soon. A few slight burns, so the soil seems a bit hot for her. ------------------------------ D18. Nothing to report, except that she has gotten a tiny bit bigger. ------------------------------ D21. The week has ended and while she is getting bigger, she is still tiny for her age. No idea what is up. It could of course be the soil blend but she was tiny from day 1. Before she even was in the soil, so I don't think the soil blend is the entire reason. She does look unhappy, but not terribly unhappy, so we'll see how she progresses. I bumped up the DLI to 25. ------------------------------

D22. A new week begins, and I hope she will pick up some growing speed soon. She is showing it differently than the plants in my other tent, but I suspect a potassium excess in the soil. ------------------------------ D25. Yesterday, I watered with SF Nematodes against fungus gnats. There isn't a problem, but I have a few gnats in my other tent, so I treated all my pots. Today, I foliar sprayed with fulvic acid, bokashi juice, and a drop of horticultural soap as a surfactant. ------------------------------ D28. We're at the end of the fourth and final week of vegetation, as she is now in flower. She looks pretty crappy. She is tiny and has clawing leaves with interveinal chlorosis. No idea why. Sure, it's evident that my soil blend needs adjusting, but even so, she was tiny from the start before she even got into the soil. Also, my other two plants in the same soil blend look much better, so I doubt the soil is wholly to blame. I considered just chopping her and starting over, but since I'm not relying on a decent harvest, I think I'll just let her go to see what happens. I started some LST yesterday because why not? ------------------------------

D29. We have now moved into flower and it looks like she will be purple, although I was hoping for a green phenotype. We'll see how this grow will go considering how terrible she looks now. I did some more LST. Not that I think it'll help. lol ------------------------------ D31. Absolutely nothing to report. Besides that, she still looks awful. I think I'll break my record of the smallest indoor harvest with this one. lmao ------------------------------ D35. I've been away on a business trip and she has grown a bit while I was gone. Don't get me wrong. She is still tiny and stunted but at least she is smelling great. A lovely citrus aroma. I tested the soil pH to see if that could be behind her stunted growth but it came back at an acceptable 7.2. Finally, I bumped up the DLI to 35. ------------------------------

D36. New week. Same sad plant. lol ------------------------------ D39. I filled up the reservoir for the first time a few days ago. Since then the blumat tensiometer sits solid at 22 mbar, which is wetter than I usually run. The Ecowitt displays a solid 45% soil moisture. ------------------------------ D42. I brewed compost tea (worm castings, kelp, rock dust, molasses) and gave her about 1,5 liters @ pH 6.2. ------------------------------

D43. New week and she is quietly doing her thing. All I do is to check the tent once per day to see the reservoir level. That's it. I dropped from 24/0 to 23/1 hours of light, and will continue to to drop down one hour per week. ------------------------------ D46. No news are good news? ------------------------------ D49. We're at the end of the week, and there's nothing to report. All I do is open the tent once per day and have a quick 30-second look. Otherwise it's just running on autopilot. ------------------------------

D50. New week. Just cruising along now. Without any hope that she will look any better, lol. ------------------------------ D53. Zzzzzzzz Zzzzzzz ------------------------------ D56. Great. To add insult to injury, she now has aphids as well. Sigh. There are only a few, and as she is close to the end, I won't even bother fighting them. I'll just keep the tent shut so as not to let any aphids out and check in on her every few days. ------------------------------

D57. New week and what I'm hoping to be her final week. I just want to put her out of her misery. She never looked great, and now she has aphids as well. I'll have a peek at her trichomes at the end of the week and keep my fingers crossed that they are ready. ------------------------------

This grow is now over, although I didn't finish it. I left her alone for a few days, and when I checked in on her, she was absolutely riddled with bugs. There was no way that I wanted to smoke any of that, so I cut her down on the spot, put her in a plastic bag, went outside, and threw her into the river (sans bag). Good riddance. So yeah, this painful journey came to an abrupt and tragic end. Not that I'm all that sad. In fact, I'm pretty happy this is over, and I can now reset and plan the next grow. I still have three more LSD seeds, but I'm giving two to a friend, and the last one I will grow at some time in the future. Now, I will focus on finishing my other tent and then enjoy the holidays. After that, we'll see what happens but plans are being made about an upcoming clone grow...
