I ran this cultivar outdoors this summer and wanted to see how it handled being run indoors. Popped 1 bean in a jiffy pod soaked in water with a little kelp extract. Jiffy pod put directly into final 3 gallon pot.
Increased ppm to about 350. I'm a big believer that less is more when it comes to autos and nutrients. I try to never go above 650-700ppm even during midflower. When running soil I stick to a feed, water, water schedule. I've decided not to do any training other then lollipopping.
Moved the nutrient strength up to 500ppm. Day 19 was first sign of sex. Not much else to report on. This plant is staying very stout and short. Node spacing is fairly compact. I have been doing some light leaf tucking to get those lower branches exposed.
Growing this cultivar indoors is completely different than outdoors. Outdoors flowering started sooner, but this could have been due to the stress I inflicted as I mainlined and manifolded it. It forced some seeds to be produced as well. I've stopped the megacrop and gone over to jacks 10-30-20 for transition and early flower. Keeping the nutrient strength right at 650ppm.
As you can see there is 3 other plants being run at the same time as this. 2 double grape by mephisto and 1 cookies and berries by blimburn. Devil fruit is turning out to be the smallest of the 4 plants. Everything is running as normal. I've done some lollipopping to open up the bottoms and get some air flowing.
Everything is looking good. Some purples are starting to come through. The stems are getting a nice purple/red to them, no it's not a ph issue. The frost is starting to stack up nicely also. I'll be switching nutrients to my finishing schedule soon as well as taking a closer look at those trichomes in the coming week. Check back for it.
I've switched to my finishing routine. I use jacks 5-12-26 which is normally a 2 part. I only use part a when growing in soil to finish my grows out. I like the low amount of nitrogen and soil holds nutrients. So I don't need to keep dumping nitrogen into the soil when it's not going to be used completely. I've found this to work very well for me. Again it's only when growing in soil. With coco I run a completely different nutrient scheme.
Check on the trichomes, lots of clear and milky. Looks to be on pace for 10 to 11 weeks in my experience. The fading and purples are just amazing. When I ran this cultivar outdoor there was no fade or purples.
Harvest is approaching quickly. I am no longer providing added nutrients. I use unfiltered tap water that's rested for a minimum of 24 hours. Using unfiltered water keeps the minerals in the water and allows the water to retain the desired ph without much fluctuation. My tap water contains chlorine which will evaporate out of the water by allowing it to rest. Most people do not realize that plants use chlorine. Anyway this plant will be getting chopped down tomorrow morning. The trichomes are about 30% amber which is a little longer than I like to go but I'm ok with this plant going longer than I'd normally like. T20 has a 70 to 80 day harvest window advertised. This plant will be taken at 68 days due to an extremely dialed in environment its finished faster than advertised.
I grew this plant outdoors this past summer. The plants looked and acted completely different from one another. The fade and the amount of frost the indoor had was impressive. I'll update more as drying and curing progress.
