PadjaliKnight DAY 1 (intro): This is 2 5 gallon fabric pots; as these are autos, I'm planting 2 seeds to a pot. Since I'll be using mycorrhizae from the beginning, having two seeds to a pot will probably be good in more ways than just higher yeild, as there will be a myco network made between the two neighbors.
The "other" added to this was around 10% worm castings, mixed with 1/2-3/4 cup insect frass, around 1/2 cup bone meal, and a small amount of plantation blackstrap molasses (1/8 cup). I powdered a small amount of plain coir over the surface of the "soil" mix, so as to deter pests, and not be wasting precious nutes and microbes on the surface where roots will not likely access them easily.
Of course, I only added this small amount of amendments because I know that Autoflowers will not be needing the heavy nitrogen for long; and once they start needing alot of phosphorous again after pre and early flowering, I will have overdrive by advanced nutrients.
Once they begin flowering, I have incredible bulk by growganica. The seeds are in a glass of water as I write this, so now we wait.
I have a viparspectra xs3000 pro (300w) that is full spectrum, that I'll be using the whole time. It looks pretty powerful, I like the dimming mechanic, adjustable length, and external power supply; I'd strongly recommend. I wouldnt really doubt its at least nearly as strong as advertised. The other lights which I will likely only use in flowering and (maybe) late veg, Are Bestva "1000w" equivalent blurples. they supposedly are 145 real watts, but I doubt it; I could see closer to 100. They're honestly good for the price but these will only be useful as supplemental lights; I strongly doubt bestva's could handle the job as a primary light. Viparspectra advertises it would sufficiently cover a 3x4 area. I would not doubt this. Bestva 1000w equivalent LEDs advertised up to 3x3 coverage; I was a fool to think this could possibly be close. Id say each one could possibly cover 1.5ftx1ft adequately.
Im germinating by putting them in the cup first for 12-16 hours, and then moving to paper towel.
DAY 2: I moved all seeds to the paper towel; within a few hours in the paper towel i noticed that both of the royal gorilla seeds had cracked so I planted those about 1/2 inch deep. The Jock horror is not going so fast; I put 3 just in case one didn't sprout, as nirvana added extras, but only one of those looks like it could -possibly- be cracking. I'm not worried about it as its only been a day and a half, but I've heard germination speed is a big indicator of seed health, so I assume that may mean RQS is better quality seeds than nirvana.
On a side note, I forgot to adjust the pH of the coco mixture after I mixed it all; I did everything else right but forgot the final step lol. So while the pH was 7.2 before, (before planting seeds) I watered with water that had a pH between 4.5 and 5; I checked the runoff water from all the pots and measured it by putting litmus paper down into the substrate; that seemed to bring the pH down to around 5.7-6.3 at every area i checked.
Til I noticeably have to water again I'll just let the seedlings deal with that and not mess with it anymore, as this is about the perfect range anyways, but from here on out I'm just going to adjust the pH of the water to 6 before watering every time to reinforce the perfect pH every watering instead of forceably moving so much at once again like this.
