This is my very first attempt at growing. Any help is much appreciated. I've been trying to read as much as I can, however, there is a lot of conflicting info on the net.
I started germination of this seed on 09/22/18. I started germination in a glass of water and seed opened within 12 hours.
After 24 hours I moved the seed into a 3 gallon fabric pot filled with a mix of 6 parts potting soil, 1 part perolite, and 2 parts vermiculite.
The plant broke through the surface 2 days later on 09/25/18. I did not start LED lighting until day 6. Lighting was one of the topics that had conflicting information. Some said no light until week 2, some said light as soon as plant breaks surface, As for light height, I currently have the 300watt LED at a height of 40 inches and will be lowering it little by little.
Finishing off week 2 and all is well. Plant has nice deep green color and has grown a bit and added a few more leafs. Big difference from week one.
Watering every 2 days or as dry.
I also added some nutrients this week. I am using Suite Leaf nutrients at 1/4 the recommended strength. once the plant grows up some I will increase slowly to 1/2 strength. So far she looks to be liking the nutrients.
On to week 3. Please comment as this is my first grow and appreciate any help you can give.
The end of week 3 saw some continued growth and filling out. Nothing out of the ordinary. Plant appears to be on schedule.
Drinking around 20 ounces of water every other day and nutrients twice per week at 1/4 recommend dosage.
The light was lowered to 20" at the end of the week. We'll see how plants adjust to the lowered light. The light will be lowered to 18" by the end of the week.
When the fan is turned off and I open the tent, you get a mild earthy smell off the plant.
On to week 4.
Wow, she doubled in size this week. Grew to 6 1/2 inches tall!
Overall, the plant is doing well besides the leaves where I splashed some nutrient mix on them while watering. Didn't wipe the leaves off and got a little nutrient burn on a couple of leaves.
The new growth looks very healthy and is a nice shade of green.
Did a little LST on the main stem to expose some of the undergrowth to the LED. Hopefully this will increase the overall yield. this is my first LST so we'll see how it goes.
On to week 5! Happy growing.
Not really a great week for this plant. Growth was only 3 inches and there were some more signs of nutrient burn early in the week. I stopped the nutrients and used only pH'd water for the rest of the week.
No more LST as I did not want to stress this plant out any more than it has been. I think I'll let it grow as is from here on out. Got rid of some lower leaves to increase air flow. Those leaves were the ones with the nutrient burn.
Other than that, plant looks ok. Just a little small.
On to week 6!
Started out the week watering with pH'd water only as last week brought some nutrient burn.
However, what I realized was that I was not testing the pH of the nutrient water which turned out to be 4.8!
I defoliated some, did a final LST, and re-introduced the plant to light nutrients. The plant managed to grow a few inches and began to flower.
There are 13 bud sites. Hopefully get a good yield.
On to week 7!
I went away on a business trip for 4 days and there was a little miscommunication on watering procedures.
Needless to say the plant was in dire need of a drink. I trimmed off all the dead lower leaves and gave her a good watering.
So far, so good. She came back nicely.
On to week 8!
What a turn around this plant has made. The main cola is starting to fill out. She now has 13 bud sites with the main cola measuring approximately 6 inches. The others are not far behind.
Drinking large sums of water and the pH is under control with no more yellowing of the leaves.
I'm expecting a decent harvest from this plant. Tricomes are still crystal clear and the smell off this plant is getting a little stronger.
Happy growing!
Productive week as the buds are fattening up. A couple of fan leaves have a slight yellow hue to them.
The trichomes are still crystal clear so looking like a harvest is at least 2-3 more weeks away.
On to week 10
This week saw the buds putting on some weight, thickening, and tightening up. The main cola is 2 inches thick and 10 inches long.
The secondary buds are an inch to an inch and a half thick with various lengths.
The smell is strong and trichomes are about 95% clear and a few starting to cloud up.
I will be switching to all pH'd water in preparation for harvest in about two weeks.
Still cannot believe the turn around this plant has made.
On to week 11! Happy growing.
Buds gained some weight and tightened up this week. I've been watering with pH 6.0 water all week in preparation for harvest.
Next week will be the same pH'd water only with a planned harvest at the end of next week if all goes well.
Stay tuned. On to week 12!
She made it part way through week 12 as I harvested her on 12/15/2018. The buds are now drying out then it's on to the curing process.
I will update on the yield in a couple of weeks. Be sure to be following to see the outcome and compare to your harvest of this strain.
Happy growing!
This strain was somewhat easy to grow. Be careful to use pH 6.0 water. I wasn't rechecking pH after mixing my nutrients and it didn't turn out that well. Had some leaf burn and slow growth. I flushed and started nutrients back with final pH of 6.0 and the rest of the grow went well.
Buds were huge, long and thin as you can see from the pictures. The buds were not real tight nor were they real sticky. This may have been a result of stressing out the plant too many times. I was able to pull down one ounce of dry bud when all was said and done.
I don't think I would recommend this strain to the absolute beginner as it does require some paying attention to. However, growing this strain along with help from this community has taught me a lot.
Tastes great and reminds me of the smoke available in the 80's Thanks for following along and stay tuned for my next grow.
