this week was fun but theres too much information online and i couldnt tell if i was overwatering or under watering XD the shell fell off pretty quick after sprout but there was some leftover stuff that prevented the first leaves from opening. i lightly proded the sides with a toothpick and it popped right open. my ph meter just came in today and im not sure how accurate it is, so i might have to try calibrating it. ive been using a jug of distilled water from the store for now, but i wanted to try using tap water once thats gone. any advice is greatly appreciated !
had a scare last week with the plant being overwatered at early stage and was leaning over a little. left her alone for a day or two and she recovered nicely. the first 15 days (including the 48 hours in paper towel) were all included in the germination week. i will start week 1 of veg from day 15 and on for my own sanity lol. i live in minnesota and the winter is coming in quick which means my 60-70% humidity is now closer to 45-50% i have been adding cups / bowls of water near the pot and fans to help raise levels a bit. no nutrients yet and im using fox farm happy frog soil with 15-20% added perlite. almost considered transplanting to a 5 gallon but don't want to stunt her anymore than i may have already done. i had an accident tonight (11/5) where i accidentally tipped the pot and dug out some of the soil around the plant trying to catch it. hopefully i didn't do any damage but shes still standing on her own. smell started coming on today and seeing lots of growth in the corners so i am getting excited to see what she does. :)
this week has been insane for growth ! she has grown a few inches in height but shes growing new leaves in every nook and cranny possible ! i havent been able to find any spots for my soft ties to start lst lmao. im thinking i need to go buy some zip ties and get the trellis installed better. she has been starting to stink pretty good :) :D i also started a new purple punch seed on 11/16 so i will hopefully be able to keep starting a new seed every 3-4 weeks without running out of space. the older leaves have some slight brown spots and tip issues that i thought were caused from ph with my distilled water being closer to 7 but the leaves feel somewhat better since feeding 1ml grow big so it might have been needing nutes. i did see 2 white bugs and almost had a heart attack thinking it was aphids, moved fast tho so supposedly beneficial bug
this week has been a lot of readjusting the soft ties i added last week. everyday it seems to stretch another 1/2 inch or so and i have to pull each brance outwards again. i started lst a bit late and didn't defoliate before preflower started so im not sure if i should just wait until before harvest to get rid of some of the under growth or what. also not sure if i should stop the grow big and just use tiger bloom now or use both still now that preflower / flowering is starting. the fox farm feed chart says to keep using both but im hearing conflicting answers online.
definitely fed it too soon. i thought 1ml bloom wouldnt hurt but its okay shes still trucking along great ! getting thicker everyday and the smell is amazing
the hairs are starting to turn orange and some of the leaves are turning red and all are fading to yellow. the trichomes are comming in nicely. very frosty ! i wish she was bigger but this being mym first attempt i will be stoked with anything that is consumable XD when i squeeze a bud it smells amzing like a sweet spicey gassy scent, loving the smells coming off the tent. really wish my phone camera would capture the colors better, i may have to get an upgrade lol.
the week has been smooth the leaves are fading / dying and i fed 1ml in a liter of water twice in the last 10 days but thinking about starting a flush now its been about 62 days and fastbuds site says 9 weeks. the hairs are mostly white still besides on a few buds its 25% and like 80% orange on 1 bud. trichomes are starting to look amber on sugar leaves about 10-15% amber trichs i need a better loupe to see close up tho. the buds just keep fattening up slowly but surely. im trying to be patient and let them get juicy even if its taking longer than the website advertised, (probably due to me dropping her in veg and overwatering in seedling stages) either way, super happy with the results so far and im thinking about getting another light. im going to try growing 2 plants under the 1 light until then but i think i could fit 3 or maybe 4 if i had a 2nd light. hopefully getting a 2nd tent soon too.
most of the buds look to be turning darker and about 60-70% of the hairs are turning orange now and only some lower buds still have white hairs standingup. very close to chop day ! :) im trying to be patient on starting my next ones so i can use the tent to dry first but its hard !!! i started to get worried about the green stuff on the stem thinking it was algae or something so i started leaving the light on 24/7 to finish her off, wondering if i should harvest the done parts and leave the bottom 25%(ish) to finish maturing. any advice or comments are welcome and very appreciated! i have 2 bubba kush photoperiod seeds, and the rest are autoflowers so i think i will save the photos until i get a few more grows under my belt or another tent. i have 1 purple punch, 4 bloody skunk, 1 forbidden runtz, and 1 gorilla cookies that i have to choose from for my next grow. what do yall think i should pick? since i have 4 bloody skunk i may just do 1 of those and 1 of the fastbuds.
i was thinking about harvesting half and letting the bottom half finish but after chopping some of it i just ended up taking it all down. i knew i wouldnt get a crazy amount of weight from the early mess ups but im guessing it will be about 2 oz when dried. im happy with anything thats smokeable for a first time grower tho and i cant wait to get started on 2 more ladies :D im thinking maybe do the purple punch but this time use a 5 gallon pot so i can see her at her best ! the roots were sure cramped in this 2gallon lol. thanks for reading and following my journey :D
As long as your soil is moist an inch down and not wet you are ok, most mistakes are over water in the seedling stage.
I personally have only started growing after a 15 year break and still mess up. But that's what makes harvest more rewarding.
