4 seeds successfully sprouted their tap roots in a coffee cup of soft water and hydrogen peroxide sat on top of the light for warmth, tap roots had shown after 18 hours but left them for 21 hours, planted 2cm into the medium.
7 days from popping out of the coco, one seedling suffered helmet head, successfully removed, hopefully not stunted, another seed was a failure, so I quickly germinated another, it is currently 4 days behind, the other 2 plants are looking healthy.
Will be manual watering/feeding with backup from Blumats automatic drip feeding.
Lights on at 10pm, lights off at 4pm, for power cost saving, temperature is steady the whole 24 hours as well this way.
Extraction fan set to trigger on when over 27 degrees/70% humidity early veg and 25 degrees/60% mid to late veg.
Inlet fan set to trigger on at 27 degrees early veg and 25 degrees mid to late veg.
Mid week 2 they have just had their second feed, 2 looking really well, the late comer is making a catchup and the helmet head is doing weird things, slight nutrient burn maybe or nitrogen deficiency on the bigger one, hopefully corrected, light raised to the correct height and PPFD/DLI adjusted as I noticed early week 2 there was some heat stress.
Some issues controlling humidity and temp due to the very hot days followed by rain, but nothing to worry about yet.
Starting week 3 with a feed, plants are looking healthy, humidity has been hard to control, added an intake fan to keep temps controlled, have successfully brought down inside temps to 25-26, this hopefully sees less heat stress on the leaves, no deficiencies present so far, I feel the plants are a little behind and size, may need 5 weeks in veg, see how we go.
11/12 /23 Added some extra calmag this week as I noticed some leaves showing a very light magnesium deficiency, hopefully this sorts them out, wanting to make the plants stretch a bit more I've dimmed the light a bit, not far from tipping now.
Still struggling with heat stress but I've done all I can without adding an air-conditioner, they seem to be not reacting too harshly though.
16/12/23
Noticed some nute burn, or potentially something else, however have flushed twice in the last week to rule it out.
Dialled the blumats drip feed back as some of the leaves are suggesting overwater(on my guess).
All 4 plants were topped today and we will see another week in veg.
Moved the tent around for more optimal placement of the fan, temp sensors and light, made room for dehumidifier as I've been unable to control the humidity very well this grow, ready for flower.
Heat stress is still an issue and I gather this may just be an issue with the strain, luckily it's minor, heat has never gone over 28 degrees but never under 25 degrees, doesn't help the weather isn't being kind.
18/12/23
Just fed, will push for another week as height is not yet achieved, also since topping and slight defoliation mid last week, the plant will need to recover.
Slight nutrient burn was noticed last week, medium should now be flushed, I have continued with the increased Cal Mag to ensure my magnesium deficiency is certainly under control.
Hoping to achieve close to height this week.
Still having issues with heat stress and humidity, will introduce dehumidifier once lights are flipped, heat stress is about as under control as I can get it, have given my exhaust fan better placement and direct exhaust out of the tent, the intake fan has been tweaked to introduce cooler outside air and just less than the exhaust is extracting to keep a small vacuum inside the tent once closed.
If all goes well I'll be defoliating further and taking clones, just purchased a clone/seedling tent, see if I can keep some clones.
20/12/23
Quick update, no feeds, no waters, letting the drip feed do its job, need to bring down overall humidity, finally some rain is cooling down general temps, moving forward to taking some clones and hopefully flipping.
23/12/23
Defoliated lower leaves and took clones, followed by a water to help the plant heal, feed tomorrow and start of a new week, will push 6 weeks veg, not at the height I need yet, want around 45-50cm with a bloom height of 70cm due to limited height of 1m.
25/11/23
Growth is slow, maybe lack of watering, fresh feed done now, if I can hit 40-45cm by the end of this week I'll take remaining cuttings and flip as I have a total of 100cm to play with and want around 30cm clearance between the light and top of plant, expecting final height to be around 60-70cm
Carried out some LST on one plant that has done some weird things after the tipping and was covering the twins in the middle.
Further defoliation has been done to clean up some lower branches.
No sign of heat stress or deficiencies/toxicities, quite happy with the nutrients I've been using, and the general temp has come down thanks to some much needed rain.
26/12/23
Increased light intensity and gave a watering.
27/12/23
Results of increasing the light to around 450ppfd instead of 300ppfd has resulted in good growth at the cost of some heat stress, unfortunately going to have to walk that fine line.
Another manual watering given, the hot days are definitely taking a toll.
30/12/23
Last update for this week, I've done some LST, noticing some overcrowding, I've been advised that the curl in the leaves is in fact wind burn, going to push one more week for height before flipping.
1/1/24
Feedings have been increased, unfortunately my Vivosun Fan has broken in under 6 months (I did expect it to fail because it's cheap rubbish) ordered 2 others to replace it.
Plants have been LSTd, no signs of issues, hoping for one more little growth spurt before flipping.
Temps and humidity have been good this week.
3/1/24
Plants are looking healthier since being advised on more frequent feedings.
Humidity has increased to 80% hopefully the new fans arrive before flipping, dehumidifier in place anyway.
7/1/2
Final defoliation complete, lowered the scrog net to spread the bud sites a bit more, will add another scrog net later if needed.
Light increased to 100% or around 600-800 ppfd depending on height and set to 12 hours on/off in preparation for bloom nutrients tomorrow.
8/1/24
Lights flipped as of yesterday, first bloom feeding today, more adjustment to limbs to further spread out the bud sites, 2 pictures are similiar, one just after adjustment and one quite a few hours later once the leaves have turned back to the light.
Lights are now 12 hours 10pm to 10am, still maintaining a steady temperature throughout, the light is now at 100% or around 600-800ppfd depending on height, some plants will hopefully catch up.
9/1/24
Plain water flushed through due to notice of nitrogen toxicity.
11/1/14
Completed another watering and feed in between, more stretching present.
14/1/24
Plants continuing to stretch, purchased a second scrog net not seen in photos for further growth.
More defoliation complete mainly below the top 2 nodes of each main branch, using the "skirt" method leaving some lower leaves for early monitoring of any mobile nutrient deficiencies.
16/1/24
Just watering and observing stretch, light is at maximum height so will make an effort to scrog these last stretches.
17/1/24
Tucked some taller branches under the second scrog.
18/1/24
Another feeding and more fighting the stretch with the second scrog net.
22/1/24
Should have flipped earlier, fighting stretch here, otherwise everything is looking mint, defoliated to let more light and circulation to lower down, dehumidifier has gone on to begin controlling the environment.
24/1/24
Tuck and weave, tuck and weave, fighting the stretch something fierce, new Mars Hydro fans in on low setting opposite corners, dehumidifier struggling to keep humidity down, may need to add a drain hose instead of utilising the drain box, increased exhaust fan and decreased intake fan relatively, see how we travel.
28/1/24
Stretch has slowed, have defoliated some more and lollipopped some, clones are looking great, plants are praying to the artificial sungod, will monitor for bleaching or burn but so far they're okay.
3/2/24
Struggled to keep them down and noticed bleaching and head damage, so have scrogged all down lower.
Hooked up air-conditioning to intake to regulate heat caused from dehumifier.
5/2/24
PK increased as per schedule, noticed some lower leaves showing deficiency while some leaves showing toxicity, I haven't been paying close attention the last 2 weeks so unsure which came first, however have flushed and gone back on schedule, hopefully all good.
Continued to use the dehumifier as humidity is reaching 80% without, holding it at a steady 50%, stabilising temps as much as possible between 28c and 30c when running the dehumidifier using some ducting and a fan from an air-conditioned room.
Buds are starting to fatten up which is good, can't put my hand in the tent without getting extremely sticky, smell is between weak and normal, nothing crazy unless up close, smells rather fruity.
It's a shame I had to scrog these in a circular motion some lower buds appear to be getting starved of light, but these girls stretched super hard.
12/2/24
Just thickening up, controlling the humidity a bit better, one plant showing signs of deficiency hopefully rectified, but not long now.
Plants looking great.
19-2-24
A bit of PH fluctuation causing small issues, but otherwise we are on the home run, dropped the PK for Rezin Finish, getting ready to cut hang and dry soon.
25/2/24
Heat and distance to the light may be causing some issues to some of the top buds, but close to harvest anyway, should make it, it appears there may be some foxtailing, will have to see.
Last week of nutrients, after this a week or two of watering until they've hit maturity.
Dehumidifier has had a hose plugged up to it so that it can run 24/7, we are now at a steady 50% humidity however the heat has suffered because of it.
No nutrients just water, wanting to cut but not enough amber trichomes yet.
Foxtailing more prevailent, have dropped the temperature and looks to be better.
Hopefully cut next week, ordered the grove bags, ready for drying and curing.
Beautiful fruity smells, very very sticky, struggled with calcium but I was using rain water, other than that very hardy stems, very resilient to the mess of an environment I threw at it, did foxtail towards the end due to how close it was to the light and heat.
Very happy with the outcome even if I had to trim these early, unsure of wet weight as I'll be hanging them by the stems.
Will report of dry weight though.
519g dry at 60% humidity, happy with this haul, do believe with some things gone better i could have achieved more weight but I'm quite happy with that result.
