This would be beginning of week one on my first grow ever, decided to try out Brothers Grimm testers to save money and do a little trial run since they were so cheap at the time! 12.50 on sale for 9 feminized seeds is a great deal from what I have seen.
One of the seedlings in the photo is Cinderella Purple and is in another tent. She will be in another diary as I am going to try both LST and HST on that tent while just LST this one.
Watering with tap and using ph down to get to amend as my water is like 8.2 out of faucet. No added nutrients given yet as I am using FoxFarms Ocean Forest soil.
Moved these two to their final pot, one was a little unhappy at first with some yellowing to lower leaves. Otherwise doing well, but I feel that they are undersized compared to what I have seen from another grow diary for this strain.
Yellowing of lower leaves still with #1, though have not seen it spread more. #2 is definitely a little shorter and darker in color. Wondering if I didn't make a mistake also planting so low as I wanted 3 gallon pots but could only find 4 gallon ones. The canopy is a little uneven as well due to height differences. Currently using photone app and paper sheet diffuser to check light levels which are about 50 PPFD different. Trying LST as well (did not top these ones!).
D30 I got a little weird and defoliated some of the large fan leaves that were covering up all the bud sites. I did not top these plants at all. #1- 11 inches at highest #2- about 8 inches tall at highest point
Trimmed a few leaves, trying to leave alone mostly and tuck what I can. Would love to flip at the end of this week, but they're looking like they could use some more time! I am too impatient for this.
Flipped to flower 1/02 D51
Ended up getting new PPM and PH reader from Milwaukee and realizing the plants have a way high ppm especially since last weeks nutrient additions. This is where I went to flushing mode and stopped PHing my tap water until I can get ph up and ppm under control
Tap water ends up between 8.5 and 9 ph most often with 750-800 ppm. MN is know to have high ppm but that is wild to me as I live in a smaller city and wouldn't expect it to be so high.
Have two fans in tent, 1 low and one above
Week 9 overall, going into Week 2 Flower
Tragically topped the smaller plant as it had wire for LST holding it down and snagged when moving around ;( will have to see how she ends up. Got their PPMs lower, PH still in lower 6 even using 8.5 pH tap water at 780ppm. Just flushed during last watering and got the big one to 6.09ph and 2470ppm and small to 1910 and 6.35ph. They were well over 4000 originally! Didn't have time to keep flushing and they were looking okay so left them alone for now.
Ordered RO countertop appliance to see if that helps the situation. Had no idea how hard my water really was, seeing that with my current veg tent they are ending up with small crystals of salts on leaves! Anyone have any advice for my situation?
Still trying to balance out the salt buildup now that I am watering with RO. Defoliated leaves that were blocking light and to allow more airflow through. Noticed some yellowing of leaves towards the bottom so then watered with nutrients (210ppm only due to increased ppm in runoff. Also raised lights due to top of tent and they all perked up (trying to follow WTTGT ways).
