First grow of the year 🎉
I'm happy I'm starting with Zamaldelica. It's been in the queue for some time now and I'm finally getting around to growing it.
So far 3 of the 5 have sprouted. I hope one more pops up later this week.
EDIT: The other two germinated, but the last one seems to need some help popping out.
Out of the 5 seeds, 4 made it. These girls are doing great in their first week living in solo cups. A couple of them have roots crawling out of the holes already. I'll give them another week or so and transplant them into gallon pots. First, I want them to form a nice root ball this go around.
These ladies have outgrown their solo cups and developed very nice root balls. You'll have to take my word for it since the transplants were very quick to avoid shock. I fed them a low dose of nutrients and will bump up over the next few weeks.
The temperature hasn't been consistent last week and I think that's what's contributing to the curly leaves. Other than that, very little issues so far 👌
Nice week of growth. The ladies are taking up the nutes pretty well. I topped them at the end of the week in preparation for a mainline/manifold. I plan to have them in their final pots by the end of next week.
I had to restock on a few supplies this week. No pH down, so I used Myco Chum for lower to pH in the solution.
Yesterday, I transplanted the ladies to their final 5 gallon pots. So far there hasn't been any signs of shock. I'll wait a couple days to defoliate them.
This week, the ladies have settled well in their final 5 gallon pots. Unfortunately, I snapped a whole branch on one of the ladies during defoliation... There goes 4 colas
Otherwise, I'm waiting a few more days to top them again to finish the mainline, and flip to flower.
The mainline is set and I'm ready to transition these ladies to flower. They're a little pale at the moment. I suspect I didn't pH well in the last batch of water. It'll be fixed with this next batch. I've also decided to grow these ladies more vertical than horizontal. It feels like the better decision in this setup.
So far, so good. I've set the light schedule to 11/13 this week and the stretch is impressive so far. It feels like they want to as tall as possible... I'll defoliate here and there, but from here on out, it's only feeding these ladies until harvest.
I'm noticing a bit of nutrient burn on a couple of the ladies. I'll tone down nutrients a pinch from here on out. Other than that, their transition period is coming to a close, and their pistils are beginning to show. 2~3 months of flower left to go 😁
Quite the stretch this week! I fear they will keep growing taller and cuddle the lights soon... not much horizontal space for me to tie then down to either. 🤷
Other than that, I've noticed I'm overfeeding them and lowered the amount of nutrients in the water. They seem to be adjusting nicely. Heavy defoliation in the coming week as well.
So far so good. 👍
These ladies look great and seem to be slowing down their stretch. I hung the light from the tent pole to avoid light/heat stress just I'm case. Afterwards, I gave them a nice trim
So far so good. The buds have started to take form on the stems and they smell great. I'll keep periodically trimming them before the 6th week or flower.
Another good week. Theses ladies are blooming strong. They greet you with a beautiful aroma every time the tent opens. This week will be the last time I trim them. We have about another month or so left till harvest 🤤
Looking good 😎
I've taken some time to occasionally check the trichromes on the buds. One of these ladies have their buds swelling with amber trichromes already. I'll keep her going for a couple more weeks and chop her. There are certain effects I'm interested in exploring with this cultivar.
The other 3 haven't developed as far and their trichromes are still mostly clear.
This is nice though, I'm looking to experience the difference between harvesting in different stages of lateness this grow 😁
I like what I see. Our lady in the middle has her buds swollen. Still not ready yet, though. The mature girl farther back should be ready for a chop next week.
I've harvested one lady so far. Her trichromes were approaching 40% amber on each bud, I believe that is good enough for what I'm looking to explore.
The lady in the middle is still swelling, so much so some of the branches can no longer hold themselves up. She still has some time left to go, maybe 2~3 weeks left.
The ladies on both ends are taking their sweet time, good for them. 🙂
I open up the tent one day and find a quarter of a plant leaning over into the net. These buds are only getting heavier by the day 😂. They are still not mature as I want them though. I only see hints of amber trichromes upon inspection. They have a good mix of cloudy and clear.
Regardless, I'll start flushing the two ladies from the right side.
Other than that, they look good and smell great.
Another week and the buds are even heavier. I've had a similar situation growing its parent (Golden Tiger). Also like it's parent, I'm having a hard time judging its actual maturity via trichomes. Still a 60/40 mix of cloudy and clear. There's tiny hints of amber on a few buds.
I'm gonna chop at least two down in 2 weeks.
I began this week flushing the ladies with plain water and ended it with me chopping them. It was rainy for a few days over the weekend and the humidity spiked to 70~80 overnight. 😬
The next morning I inspected the ladies and found one of the larger collection of nugs discolored and soggy. 🤢 I look inside and it's rotted.
Chopped that cola in half and later harvested and wet trimmed the rest of the plants. These appeared unharmed and much drier than the soggy rotted bud. It won't get any less humid this week, so they're slowly air drying on mesh racks at the moment.
Even though I wanted to wait another week before chopping, nature had other plans. Ah well, lesson learned. I expect it to still smoke well after a few weeks of curing.
