some of that cost can be distributed to more grows, since the equipment continues to work,like the ph pen and lights, but also ahve to consider depreciation... how long with the equipment last, divide cost by years..
break everything down to lowest common increment. from there can see true cost per month or year etc...
A basic grow with a nice light can be as little as 25 cents per gram. I'm reasonably controlling environment, shooting for max dli relative to ambient co2 and probably around 35 cents per gram. humidifier, dehum, air filters add up a bit more.
you can save a lot in fertilizer. I spend about 30/year cause i buy in bulk and dry. 25lb bags last 3-4 years (~total of 80 sq ft of grows/year), but can sit on shelf for decades. that's gone up slightly since i don't hand water anymore, but at 4 cents per galllon the convenience is worth a little waste. It's a minimal portion of total cost and should be.
I'm a big fan of having a good idea of true cost of things... informed choices are better choices.
