I had a cheese auto by Royal queen seeds but kept hearing bad things about them possibly even hermaphrodite in the mix. Can’t have that so I switched to Dutch passion blackberry kush auto. Proved in the past I can grow a good auto in the window with the right setup, right genetics and right know how. It was sad killing a 2 week plant but this one may be worth it. It actually germinated a few days go but am starting the diary now. Let’s hope we hit an oz of fruity indica flower in the window
Incase any of u r wondering what huegelmound/heugelkulture is, it’s basically compost/organic material at the bottom of ur grow medium. Outdoors this is done by making raised beds from sticks, logs, and organic material that over the years breaks down into a natural raised bed full of organic living material. In pots however it’s much more simple. Simply add compost and or worm castings to bottom of ur grow pot(no matter what the size.) this encourages roots to stretch to bottom of the pot for nutrients.
A very short plant as it’s prob only going to get about a foot tall if not 10 inches. But stalk is thick and let’s see how these buds start to develop. It may end up being 1 big bud pretty much is my guess.
Almost the end of preflower and about to hit flower. It’s about 6 inches tall rn I think it’s got at least 5-7 days of stretch b4 buds really start forming. So my guess is about 10 inches tall. I’ve defoliated most of the top leaves and pruned the bottom branches and bud sights. Going to take off the bottom fan leaves and that’s it for any pruning or defoliation. Got some decent natural sunlight this week for a couple days. So growth has been good. Short plant but very stalky so expecting some massive buds. Added compost and worm castings and that’s it as far as top dressings. Will add some type of sugar(molasses or coconut water) a few weeks after the final top dressing and that’s prob it. Normally I would add fish emulsion too but it’s flowering too fast so I don’t want to burn it.
Plant looks so good that the leaves are praying. Been getting decent natural sunlight the past few days so that always helps. Did one of my best jobs pruning/defoliating this auto. Buds are starting to form well. At the perfect height for window grow. I still think it will grow 2 more inches. But maybe not idk. Will add coconut water feeding in about a week and a half(3 weeks post top dressing) to add basic nutrients and cal mag. Other than that it’s flowering too fast for any major nutrients like fish emulsion and kelp/alfalfa meal. Like I’ve said b4 it’s next to my woodstove which keeps the humidity low. I should get a humidifier for my plants near the woodstove when they are in veg and germination stage but I always pick easy to grow strains that can grow in any environment. Especially autos. I prefer photos but only grow them Once indoors and once outdoors and the rest are autos and I grow a lot.
Tapped some maple trees down the road and used the maple water to water the blackberry kush. Used half maple water half distilled water. It took kindly to it as the leaves are now praying. We’ve been getting decent sunny days and the plant gets great sunlight around this time of year in the window. Based on just looking at it I’d say 5-6 weeks left till harvest. So a couple more sugar feedings and it’s good. Plant is only about 11 inches tall but the buds are very compact. No smell yet but that should come soon. See u next week.
Gave it its last sugar feeding last week using coconut water. Smells pretty good. Moved the plant into the 2x4 setup(no tent or carbon filter) to increase the yield the last 2 weeks as the lights in the window set up are getting old and are cheap to start out with. Using that area for starting seeds in the spring and will upgrade the setup after that with a tent frame and a better light but no tent so it still gets sunlight too.
Tho I didn’t have the best lights to start out with the yield is a bit disappointing. It’s got a couple weeks to dense up but I can’t see more than 3/4s an oz off this one plant, upgrading the window setup and prob picking better genetics will improve yield.
The terps on the other hand are there. Blackberry pine and a bit hashy flavor. So that part didn’t disappoint. However I’m realizing I don’t like fruity terps either. I like old school pine hash skunk and haze flavors. The Plutos bride has some old school terps which I’m growing right next to the blackberry kush.
