Added another seedling so that critical doesn't get lonely...
Girlfriend managed to knock my tent, sending critical hitting the floor sideways, breaking it's steam. Splint needed.... Annoying.
Introducing Haze#1.... Should catchup with Critical's bad luck.
Bigger - Critical
Smaller - Haze
Added mycorrhizal fungi to each pot, hoping to see how it helps these plants.
Feeding them a weak mixture of coffee/water.
Since the last week, a little emergency was needed to wash out all the soil. realised that the plants looked a little overwatered, however I was struggling to water them at all. They always looked sodden!
The leafs began to get weak, curling to burn at the tips....
After some research, I had a realisation that all the fucking fungus gnats from my last adult lady had/may have given the seedling phythium!!!
looks like they are saved now.
New 50w LED COB light arrived. Will have a 100W after a few more week.
learnt my lesson with CFL. Not worth the yields, energy bills and general plant growth/health.
NO MORE CFLS!!!!
Not recognisable from the 4th week. So glad the new lights are encouraging fast growth, wish I had invested in these from the first week.
2 x 50w COB LED full spectrum floodlights. Passive cooling. IP65 rated, with dome lenses, wired up as a pair. AC Mains, therefore there is a realtime flicker, could do with a driver maybe???
Just topped both of them.
Taking shape at last, doing a far bit of defoliation for getting the shape i want..
Got seedlings, rocket and Chinese radish stuck in the tent now. Getting a little bored of just concentrating on the main herb!
lastly, ready for the flowering phase, I have placed them both in 'Root nurse' 8 litre fabric grow bags.... Looking forward to seeing roots poking out the sides of these...
Moments like this, the idea of a big indoor garden for all things salad-ie would be delicious!
First serious week of flowering nutes. 900ppm of Molasses and heavy P.K. additives.
nodes beginning to structure themselves to foxtail.
I must admit, I think I need a bigger tent!
Critical getting taller, buds are beginning to be viable rapidly, lots of pistol hairs growing out.
Haze #1, still a little slow to the change of light schedule. gaining a little height from the switch. Being a dominant sativa strain, I'm guessing it doesn't like the colder climate. the tent is warm during the day, however when the lights turn off it can stand at 8-5c. Not much I can do about that, the shed isn't very insulated...
Currently got 2 x 50w LED Full Spectrum & 30w 6700k CFL.
Another 6 weeks for critical and 8 for Haze.... :)
Early this week, I did some heavy trimming. I know it's believed to be counterproductive to flowering growth, however I do believe the buds from lower branches to be pointless.
Critical (Taller) is in full swing of flowering now, quite amazing how fast the blooming has gone in just 7 days. Lovely strong smell when inspecting growth sites, great pistils. Looking like a very promising strain.
Haze (shorter) is not showing any signs of flowering still, I know from other peers that have grown this strain, it takes several weeks of 12/12 to even show signs of buds... There is hope yet for this plant, although it is SLOW SLOW SLOW.... Not sure slow/long flowering plants are that sensible for indoor lighting rigs, the expense is considerably large for 3-4 months...
I have had to bring the tent indoors during the cold weather snap. They are enjoying the warm ambient night temperature too much.
Growing in the tent too, is watercress, red basil and sutpice tomatoes. Giving them a kick start ready for the outdoors once we get to March.
Not complaining though, very excited for the herb!
Another week closer to Harvest...
Critical RQS seems like a serious gentically modified blooming machine, everyday the buds are getting fatter, quite amazing to realise her speed. Frankenstein of a sort, but smelling beautifully earthy and cheesy at the same time.
Haze has all of a sudden shot up in height, featuring good signs of flowering now, still a little slow. She seems to be getting some momentum though...
Still feeding them Molasses and heavy K-P mixture at 1050ppm.
I have had to remove all the other salads and herbs, started to attract fungus gnats again. Fortunately the two girls have perlite as their top layer, therefore mostly dry to touch, which gladly deters those flies....
They are both chugging down 300-400ml of juice every two days.... At around 1050ppm with heavy PK & molasses.
Critical RQS is getting uber sticky and smelly to touch, insane!!!! Considering this still one of my first grows, this strain is delivering some impressive attributes...
Haze #1 is getting strong, she blooms alot later then Critical, so she will need 10-12 weeks in total apparently. Therefore the tent will be free for her to fill up in one month after critical is done. Very interested to how she will turn out, needed to bend her heads over with some coat hanger wires today, too close to those lights....
Not much to say here.
Critical still continuing to prove itself! Fantasic smells, very cheesy & earthy whilst being incredibly sticky.... Whoowey.
Haze is gaining strength by the day. Still early days for her, but flowers are nice...
Well I have been away for the week abroad, left my girlfriend to take control of water with pre-mixed nutes. I have a feeling that she didn't water them very much, barely used 1.5 litres for the 9 days I was absent... For both plants....! My instructions were to be plentiful every 2 days. I came back to bone dry soil in both pots.
Critical's fan leaves falling off with classic burns, she is very close to Harvest, therefore I can only imagine it is finishing herself off. I plan to flush and split her this week before cut down next Sunday.
On a positive notes, her colas are getting dense and sizeable. very impressive...
Secondly Haze #1 has at least 4-5 more weeks left, she still is featuring yellowed/paled leaves in my absence... A little worrying. Her flowers have a huge amount of growth left, the colas have only started to get frosty.
Glad to see I am not away for the next month, so water and nutes shouldn't be a problem anymore.
Critical has been fattening up increasingly. All of her top fan leaves have been falling off, Crispin up or yellowing out slowly. I think she is obviously stumbling into her twilight moments before harvest.
Still getting frostier, sticky and incredibly smelly. Can smell the plant from outside the shed now! I think I will cut her down in 6 days or so. Still observing the trichomes, from the close ups I guess they are 30% cloudy at the moment.
Haze #1 flowers looking pretty, smell is not strong at all, however gives off a faint 'used sock smell'.... Cheesy...
Her leaves are yellowing heavily, obviously she is using up all her nitrogen for the flowers, however I intend to keep her in the tent for another 2 weeks at least.
if you guys have any thoughts on whether they look premature, prefect or over mature for harvest? Please let me know, still new to this.
My first plant I cut down quite early, so a bit from that is like a strong buzzy coffee! I like it, but not conducive to chilling...
This week at some point I will switch the tent off! No lights for 72 hours up until the weekend.
Not going to lie, super fucking bored of them now. got to endure the drying and curing which is even more tedious.
However it's all good when ready to Vape!
Feeding them straight water for the past 2 weeks, most leaves on both plants have bèen yellowing and drying out. Most of the pistils on the Critical have turned Brown 90%, however Haze is roughly 50%.
Although struggling to see any definate signs of milky/Amber trichomes...
Critical has been chopped down! Got bored, needed the tent for Haze to finish herself off with maximum light. Plus I have two Autos desperately needing some LED lighting.
1-2 more weeks for Haze, still lots of white pistils...
I cut her down! Will update the harvest for both.
They both have to dry and cure before the first smoke!!!
It looked like she could have down with a few more weeks, however I need a change of scenery. Crack onto the next!
Been waiting to finish growing my first Sativa, very excited.
Will been back soon!
As mentioned with Critical, both these plants were germinated just before Xmas, they have been through many cold weather snaps in the shed and a good dose of root rot, contracted by some pesky fungus gnats.
I knew that this strain was a thoroughbred Sativa, which was the main reason for selecting it, however 10-12 week flowering period is a little too much for anyone's patience.
The tent is only small and LED were only 100w, but I pulled 11 grams of her, which isn't big... I can only blame this on the outside weather (uninsulated shed) and the small setup I have.
The strain took 2-3weeks to start flowering after the 12/12 switch. Once in full swings, the buds grew nicely. Surprisingly very tame on the smell, a good covert grow choice.
I haven't tried to Vape this yet, although I am sure I will be amended this text over the next few days.... :)
They look over-watered maybe plus leaves are a bit droopy. I have a seedling in week 3 of veg that is quite small and it was because I watered too much. Wait until soil is completely dry
Something is wrong they are to small for 4 weeks check them pls , hope you will get them big and strong 💪
Got also two RQS criticals in my tent
They where mich much bigger with 4 weeks
You both were absolutely correct! I am amazed you could tell from the photos on week 4.... Obviously guru geniuses!!! They both had phythium I think, the fungus gnats from my last grow probably spread it to the seedligs. I was resigning to the fact they may be gone forever... Gave their roots a clincal wash with peroxide and discarded the rotting roots.... I am happy to say after several weeks with new lights and close attention, they are fighting fit! Very impressed with Critical. Lost a few weeks but hey, it's a experience and learning curve....
