First grow since my teenage years in the early 00’s. When all we had was seeds found in the smoke and a patch of dirt off the beaten trail. Let’s try this nutrient controlled, carbon filtered, 630watt cmh bulb lit, space tent sorcery all the kids are raving about and see if we can grow some killer buds, buds.
Week 2: So good, so far, transplanting scheduled for Wednesday (day 14) Having some difficulty maintaining a stable environment during the transition between light cycles. Adding a temp controller unit and a humidity control unit connected to the in line / space heater and cool mist humidifier and a mini dehumidifier. (Waiting on test calibration and heater to arrive) attempted
some LST (day 11) taping down some tips to let some light down through.
Update: got a small ceramic space heater. With the temp controllers connected to the 6”inline and tiny space heater did some tests works like a dream. The humidity controller works as well but the dehumidifier doesn’t seem to be able to clear the humidity in the off cycle quick enough might get a second inline...
Week 4 was good took on a side job so I’ve been out of the house for 16 or more hours a day. Plants are adjusting to their new schedule. Flushed and added some cal mag. They seem to be responding well. Done quite a bit of lst, hst, and defoliation to provide light to the lower nodes and control the height. I’ve been advised to stay on top of this strain especially in a tent. Unfortunately my diary entries have suffered due to the double shifts but I will attempt to stay on top of it!
Finished up my side job today should be able to keep better journaling. Looking pretty good I think. Pretty well a first timer here. Growing a little pot has come a longways in the last 15 year... speaking of which some hst, lst, and defoliation. Another week or two of shaping. And then I think install the trellis net and flip ‘em.
Got some heavy yellowing and some rust spots, it looks like a combination of things. Flushed all four let them dry out and started them back on 1/4 strength A+B and a touch of cal mag. Fingers crossed.
Flushed over the weekend. Let them dry out and fed them with 1/4 strength nutes. Hopefully I caught it in time they look a bit rough.
Took the stakes out, defoliated, colected clones and threw in the trellis. They are looking much happier upped the nutes a bit after the flush they seem to be liking it. Still getting some dark spots and yellowing, bought a test kit for the soil, Hopefully figure it out soon.
First week of flowering going well still got a few leaves here and there that look a bit sad but overall they look healthy and are growing like crazy. Upped the nutrients to 900ppm. Still watering every third day. Got some 13” risers and 18” saucers that work incredibly well with these cloth 5gals.
Another good week growing an inch or two daily keeping everyone tied down to the scrog is a challenge. One more week of this scrog then I’m gonna let them climb up and introduce the second scrog for bud support.
Updated some of my info, mostly just nutrient amounts I’ve basically been going off of recommendations from an experienced gardener and about 3/8 - 1/2 suggested usage of the manufacturers to account for dissolved solids already in my tap water and natural buffers in the soil mix I’m using.
Grow is going well few weeks into flower now. Never heard of or attempted massive defoliation or lollipoping etc. used to be just pull the big leaves off when it felt right. But here goes nothing cleaned up alot of the stuff below the scrog felt wrong to cut it all out but I’m told it will pay off in spades. Either way they are looking nice!
3 out of 4 are looking great! 1 is looking a little sad, I believe it was manganese lock out due to increased iron content in the soil. I don’t think I washed the hydroton that I put on top of the soil well enough. That’s my theory anyway. I flushed with a low ph let everything dry out and reintroduced my regular feed at 1100ppm. defoliated the affected fan leaves hopefully I caught it in time. The seed sprouted down, the root ball fell apart and I nearly snapped half the manifold off week 4 but she’s still givnr. If you’re new to the game or have been on the bench for a while try HSO’s blue dream she grows like a weed 😉
I knew it was gonna be tricky to keep a constant balance between heat and humidity fluctuations but the last week has been rediculous 25 degree swings with 0 humidity.
A little bit of fox tailing and some stress due to irratic temps and low humidity. But other than the poor girl in the back with the manganese deficiency they all seem to be doing pretty well.
Hopefully the weather can figure it’s shit out the critical looks like it’s gonna be a week or two ahead of the blue dream but we will see!!
Weather went from shit to worse -33 with the windshield thermostat died last night power went out went a few hours panicking came back on. But the surge flipped a breaker and my exhaust was down for nearly a whole day. Luckily circ fans are on a separate circuit so wasn’t completely dead air but christ on a cracker what else!!!?!? Will post updates hoping they didn’t get hit too hard, poor things.
The critical is nearly ready to harvest watching closely daily waiting for those trichs to fully mature. One blue dream was doomed from the start but has actually managed to do better than expected. The other two are struggling. Some how they all made it through the -33 power outage among other unpredictable things nearly got to 0 in the house before the power cane back on. These girls have been through hell so I will be happy with whatever I get.
The “polar vortex” as they are calling is making it quite difficult to control temps and humidity. Not to mention power fluctuations, water lines freezing. Can’t afford a generator this run but next winter it’s happening. Can’t wait for spring.
Pretty good week! 2 plants chopped and hung to dry in a 3x2x5’ tent piggybacking off my grow tent with separate humidity controler, cool mist humidifier and fan. Maintaining that 68 degrees and an 50 percent humidity. 😋
The critical by royal seeds was ready in between 7-8 weeks of flowering (8 week veg)
Smoked One of the two popcorn buds that fell off in wet/pre trim. Incredibly pleased so far.
The blue dream that refused to die, straight from the lovely hso team ✌️ had to come down early however; due to a stressful life she grew some beautiful buds with some “extravagant fleurishes” at the top. Also the pop corn bud tester was beyond expectations. So far soooo good. 🤤
The two blue dream left are doing the best they can to fatten up! With fluctuating tap water conditions, power outages, polar vortexes. Wtf!! I’m so proud of them for soldiering through. I’ve stopped nutrients to give them a good flush before harvest. Hopefully it wasn’t premature. I’m gonna give them another week and a half two at the most..
Any advice questions or comments are always welcome 🤪
Just cut down the critical. Trichomes were on the verge of amber with a few here and there. got so excited to hang it forgot to weigh it wet oh well less handling the better. Hanging in a tent at 68 degrees and 50 percent humidity. Will report back after cure.
It’s been a week no nutes they are really starting to lighten up as they burn through whatevers left.
For the amount of shit they went through from freezing to burning due to power outages electrical issues etc. They have done quite well.
Keeping an eye on trich’s for harvest. Looks like a week or so.
Grew like a beast and despite a myriad of hurdles due to the unpredictable Canadian weather, and some new learning experiences they were put through the wringer, still got 2 that need another week or two, but one had to come down she was struggling. Luckily she was closer to maturation either way.
The one that I’ve harvested so far was kind of out necessity she was the one that has struggled since day one. But the buds turned out nice. More updates after curing and the harvest of the other two beauties. Update: the two other beaut’s have been taken down, trimmed and cured! Couldn’t be happier. The three HSO blue turned out splendidly, smooth tasty smoke that cures what ails ye. And just over 100 grams a plant for my first go in a tent I’m more than happy with. Gonna order a bit of blue dream from the government approved growers to compare for fun.
