Hey I got a northern lights auto seedling that starts week 2 today. It has one small pair of true leaves atm and is quite long and thin, about 7 or 8cm tall. Should I add some veg nutrients now or wait a bit? When I start, how much should I use. I have some organic powdered stuff

If you started with good quality soil, it should have enough nutrients for at least 3-4 weeks, maybe more. After looking at your diary, I would suggest increasing the lighting, either move it closer or up the percentage if you have it dimmed, Your seedling is stretching due to not enough light intensity, it is not a nutrient issue as can be seen by the lovely dark leaves. When the plant has 3-5 nodes is usually when I start feeding, but only gently at first...quarter to half dosage strength is usually enough, especially for autos. Remember too......it is very, very easy to rescue a slightly under fed plant, but very, very difficult to remedy an over fed and burned plant! You could also top up the pot with a bit of extra soil, this will support the long stem better and not effect the plant adversely. Filling the pots right up to the top allows maximum room for root development and more roots = more plant. Besides, as you water, the soil will settle and compact down, meaning if you have a big gap to the top of the pot, your deep seated plant ends up missing out on a lot of reflected side light due to shading from the walls of the pot, which just reduces growth.

Hey. So I see your plant has more leaves and small node growth There's a few thing u can do here. See those 1 fingered leafs. These can can be removed with the nodes (growths) tat sit above them. As the uppersets have 3 fingered leafs will outperform these low nodes and outshadow these throughout the the plants growth Also to promote node growth you can bend ur plant on a slight angel / making more light to hit the leafs that transfer their energy into making nodes that will be able to sustain themselves when the fan leaves have done their job. All about energy management. Doing things like this will speed up veg ad opposed to waiting for rhe natural time. As leds/lights are static lights. Unlike the sun doing a 180 around your plants practically covering points with static lights u need to manually move drive leafs nodes by managing energy correctly and as efficiently as u can

I agree with Organoman, everything need downtime, plants are no different. Can you grow at 24/0, sure but that's only when shits locked in and even then its hard on the plant. 18/6 is best IMO or w/e hits your DLI of 35-40 thats over 12hrs. Otherwise the plants don't look to bad. I think your overthinking it. Good Luck!

yeah your plant is far behind. I see that you listed a 1200W lamp for the diary the plant is in. I'm not sure if you bought one of those Ali-Xpress lamps or if its an error, but the point here is that your plant is starving "light" You can download multiple app to your phone to check PPFD & DLI, without other equipment the apps are not exact but can be used as a pointer... On my most recent diary i have done some tests on my lamps and from that found out the amount of hours the light needs to be turned on for te satisfy the plants needs.. good luck with the developmentally disabled πŸ‘½ and your future diaries

Is that an auto strain? I think I can see first pistils on last photos in your diary. I would increase temperature.

Sometimes it's frustrating when a plant doesn't grow like you expect. It could be a genetic thing or maybe just a bad seed. I've had my fair share of those. But hey, don't beat yourself up about it. You're doing all the right things with the organic nutrients and the light cycle. Sometimes plants just have a mind of their own. Hang tight, keep an eye on her, and see how she develops. She might surprise you yet. And if not, well, it's all part of the learning experience, right? Keep the faith, and happy growing! 🌿πŸ”₯

Hey so, anyone who's seen my posts will know I've got a northern lights auto here that seems to have very stunted growth due to lack of sufficient light. I come today to ask what you guys think about the current height of light, and if looks like flowering has started.

the resulting stem length between new nodes is a good way to guide light intensity... too tight needs less, too lanky needs more. trial and error. take note of what you learn works best for that light. avoid the learning curve next time. When you see preflowers, you'll know flower phase started days ago before you could see the growth. figure 3-4 weeks of vege growth remains from that point before it stops adding leaves and elongating stems.

No it has not started flowering yet, just showing its sex......female as indicated by the pistils. Flowering proper should start in about 2 weeks or so.

The pistols you are seeing is the plant beginning to show sex. It is not starting to flower just yet though but will soon if it is an auto. I really think it’s your light, my guess is it may look bright to your eye but humans have a very poor sense in how many photons are actually being admitted because our eyes have the wonderful ability to shrink our retina to allow less light in when light is too much. On the flip side, if you can download a PPFD or LUX app on your phone. Your camera on the phone will be able to measure that light coming in by keeping the shutter and F stop white open and measuring the photons the sensor receives over a 1 second span. My suggestion would be to download that PPFD app and test the light. Raise/lower the light to the heights that the plant will be getting roughly 550 PPFD. And if you cannot get to those numbers with the light being a safe distance away from the plant then the light is junk and you will need to get something different.
