For me, it is very important that the germination of the seeds takes place in the way I am used to: I take the seeds and put them in good sprouting soil that I can buy at a local store and that I also use for my other seeds like tomatoes, chili, peppers and eggplants. My germination soil works well for them and is peat free. The date of sowing (April 1) is the first day of legalization of private cannabis cultivation in my country.
I have sown all 6 seeds I received and will only continue with the strongest and healthiest ones.
I also germinated an Euforia from Dutch Passion and two one-year-old Special Queen#1 seeds for internal comparison.
04.04.2024: All 6 Fractal seeds have germinated.
05.04.2024: Euforia and Special Queen #1 have germinated. Thanks to Dutch Passion for the Euforia seed.
All the ladies are doing well. During the warm and sunny weekend they spent some time outside, but as usually the wheather changed and they are inside now and under a 10W LED Growing lamp especially for the young plants. No nutrients are currently used.
Day11: Fractal is by far the most growing seed, next leaves are appearing. I put the plants a bit nearer to the lamps, don't want to become the stems too long. Temperature outside is 14°C, too cold, so they must stay inside.
Day13: The weather was fine outside.
The plants are waiting for warmer weather to finally realise their potential outside. Unfortunately, it will remain very cold this week with sub-zero temperatures at night. There are no recognisable diseases, I just think they are a bit stalky. They don't need much water because evaporation is low.
The ladies were transplanted into larger pots, which they really appreciated, and topped after the fourth leaf node. There were strong winds and a heavy thunderstorm this week, so they were secured with bamboo sticks. So far they are very resilient. The repotting means they won't be receiving any more fertiliser for some time as the peat-free potting compost is already pre-fertilised.
Fractal seems to be quite temperature-sensitive. Whilst the other varieties cope well with night temperatures between 8° and 10° C, all but one of the Fractal ladies seem to be offended. I will probably continue to work with the lady in picture two as a selection in the near future, as she has survived the temperatures and no burns on the leaves from too short a hardening off best. Overall, the Fractal Ladies are a little behind my other varieties, the leaves are smaller and the colour is light green. I assume that they will have a growth spurt in the next few days when the night temperatures rise to 12° C. and the day temperatures to 24° C.
The ladies have adapted very well, are growing excellently, I am satisfied. Although it got quite cold again at night and it rained a lot, the fractals are doing very well. They have had another good growth spurt and have no pests.
It has been a very uncomfortable week, also known as the "sheep cold". Lots of wind, lots of rain and temperatures down to 5° C at night. The wind has already torn a branch off the trunk, but luckily I was able to reattach it before it broke off completely, which would have been a shame. The branches of the Fractal are not very flexible, so I have to keep an eye on them. It will soon be time to tie them up, as I do not want them to grow over the railing. The two plants are slightly different, one has much greener leaves and is slightly more upright, the other is more slender with lighter leaves and more growth.
Height: 75 cm and 64 cm.
Even though I had the plants tied down, a large branch broke off on both of them. It just happens. As they are now growing so vigorously, I decided to remove the tips of the shoots to encourage branching. The water requirement has increased considerably and a lot of water is evaporating in the clay pots.
The two ladies are doing very well, only the water supply could be a bit more stable. The saucers overflow when it rains and they have to be watered three times a day when it's dry and hot. I'm thinking about an irrigation system. Another 3-4 weeks until the start of the flowering phase. I'm trying to produce as many shoots as possible by topping until then. I also want to keep the size in check. That's why I'm also defoliating the plants to prevent mould and to allow more light to reach the shoots. Fractal has adapted very well to the climate so far, apart from some initial difficulties.
Not much new to report. The ladies are branching out as desired and therefore the height growth is stagnating.
In my opinion, there are now enough shoots.
The yellowing of the leaves worries me a little; is it a lack of fertiliser or the cold nights this week?
2024.07.14
The week was very changeable with heavy rain, sun and lots of wind. The fractals coped well and continued to grow. To avoid having to constantly work with liquid fertiliser, I applied a layer of manure consisting of worm compost, compost, malted barley, horn meal and pelleted cattle manure. The malted barley is supposed to bring enzymes and minerals into the soil, which will also be important for later flowering. The top layer is approx. 3-4 cm thick. Both plants have recovered well and the yellow tinge in the leaves has disappeared but has not yet given way to a deep green colour. Maybe I can still manage that. They have grown a little, but mainly the shoots have become stronger. The water requirement in the ceramic pots is very high in sunny, hot weather but not quite as high as in fabric pots.

It was a hot and sunny week, so the plants were very thirsty. Had to look a few times a day for water to avoid hanging down leaves. The ladies are getting a nice shape.
Placed them to a place with less heat.

Due to holiday absence the plants did not get the full care, but it was a rainy week, so they did not suffer much. It seems to me as if they startet flowering.

Fractal 2 110
The plants look a bit damaged and need some care as I was on holiday for a couple of weeks. They were watered every 2-3 days but not looked after any further, yet they have grown quite a bit. The smaller Fractal has already started to flower. They have lost a bit of colour, I hope to be able to fix that.

It was a mixed week but with lots of sun towards the end. All plants were fertilised with malted barley and some horn meal, they started to show slightly yellow leaves, this has now been fixed. In the heat they need a lot of water as the pots can't store much. The second plant has not yet flowered, it also has wider leaves than the already flowering one.

Fractal 2 103 cm flowering
It was probably the hottest week of the year with a maximum of 34° C, and a lot of water had to be administered. The two Fractals ladies are developing slightly apart, while one thinks it can continue to grow, the other is forming flower buds. They are two different phenotypes, the bud-forming one has now got much slimmer leaves. However, both are healthy and have no caterpillars, slugs or aphids. If the other one would now start to form buds, I would be very happy.

The Fractal Ladies seem to be two very different phenotypes. While No.1 is still growing and just starting to flower, No.2 is much further along, about 3 weeks ahead. No.2 has beautiful buds that smell of good old-fashioned hash and feel quite harsh. It looks like No.2 will be ready to harvest in September, which suits me fine, as I fear mould on the dense, harsh buds. I will be growing No.2 in a slightly sheltered location.

A warm, sunny week has come to an end, without rain.
Please tell me how it is possible that the two Fractals are so far apart in time. Fractal 2 has almost reached its full bloom, smells incredibly good and strong, while Fractal 1 continues to grow and still has small flowers. They are easy to care for, get flower fertiliser and some wood ash and are watered twice a day. PH value is 7.

Fractal 2: 108 cm
Summer is coming to an end and the two Fractals are at different stages of flowering. Fractal 1 is now in bloom, while Fractal 2 can and must already be harvested. Fractal 1 can remain outside, its flowers are not yet dense and resinous and therefore less susceptible to mold. It is supposed to rain for the next 3 days, so I have put Fractal 2 in a dry room with a tilted window. this lady pervades the apartment with her very, very strong scent. If you touch the buds of Fractal 2, the resin sticks to them. The macro picture shows me that the trichomes are milky and partly already amber-colored. I don't need any mold on the flowers, so she will stay inside and will be harvested.

Because it rained almost completely for 3 days that week, I decided to harvest the flowering Fractal2, which was already showing amber-colored trichomes. The flowers were so plump that I didn't want to risk mold. I left the pollinated branch and smaller flowers on the plant. Lightly trimming the branches yielded a total of 1196 g. The scent is wonderful and pervades the whole house. Thank you @DivineSeeds for letting me test these strains.
Fractal2 is a completely different phenotype, it has more of a Skunk#1 character and is only now really starting to flower. I hope the weather plays along for a while yet. The forecast here is for dry late summer days with sunshine. But the nights have already been cold with temperatures around 5-7° C.
No mold
No pests
No diseases

It's been a sunny, warm week without any rain but one stormy day, where some plants fell over but nothing damaged. Fractal2 is already harvested and drying meanwhile Fractal1 still takes time. Fracxtal2 has a definetely strong couch lock, I only tested a bit. The smell is still oldschool with a bit of lemon.
