D0.5: Found in a 5lb bag of soil, the Brunch seedling surprised me by surviving despite my initial belief that she was lost. I deviated from my usual practice and removed the shell and casing, recognizing her need for light after being in dense soil. It looks like she germinated in the last 2-3 days. D3: The Brunch seedling is resting in my first hydroponic system! As a novice in hydroponics, I’m excited, but nervous. I’ve been such a bad momma with the soil babies this year 😢 I’m hoping it doesn’t translate to hydro 🙈 Any tips or encouragement from experienced hydroponic growers are warmly welcomed! Here’s to a fruitful journey! ✌️❤️🌱 D4: removed fish tank heaters at the advice of more experienced hydro growers. D5: looking fine D5: I’ve decided to add a new member to “The Brunch” seedling journal, and it’s none other than an older sibling from the same strain. This little one has been facing some challenges, growing slow and stunted in soil. Instead of tossing her I introduced her to the hydroponic setup alongside her sister. It’s been two days since she joined the hydroponic basket, and I’m already seeing some positive changes. While she’s still catching up, there’s a noticeable improvement in her appearance. I will keep the days of the journal to the little sister and big sis will have an occasional update. D6: Doing some LST on lil sis using the pebbles D7: one-week old. Little sis is looking good and big sis seems to be healing. Big sis is about 21 days old. Her lower leaves were removed due to full yellowing.

Do you have a pearl of wisdom for me? This is my first hydroponic grow and I could use a whole necklace! DWC, large air stone, top drip, 8” pot, clay pebbles Do you always leave hours on? A timer? And good grief… why isn’t the fish tank heater working in the 5gal bucket 🙈✌️

Firstly ph is very important so I use silica as my buffer I mix the required amount of silica into the water , then I use ph down to reduce the ph to between 5.7 & 5.9 Then the nutrients go in at the required rate, the ph should remain where you set it before adding the nutes. As for the aquarium heater is it needed? nutrient solutions perform better at colder temps because oxygen is more available. Unless the solution is below 10 degrees celcius I wouldn't use one personally. Next is root care . To keep the roots in top health I reccomend the use of Mycorrhizae as it will help combat root issues. Finally timers are preferable as all plants require a break (darkness) this allows them to recover from any stress they may endure. Hope this helps mate

I can’t respond to the question answers, so I’ll respond in the comments. This isn’t my first grow, it’s my first in hydro and, of course, I’ve been reading up on everything. I didn’t just buy everything and throw a seed in it. Regardless, I still think it’s mighty valuable to get input from experts ✌️❤️🌱

@skunkledamo, thank you for sharing your experience and tips with DWC! I’ve got the black bucket set up, but I’m not sure if I need to cover the pebbles—I feel like light might seep in. I’ll make sure to update my growing diary regularly and stay engaged with the community for more knowledge. DWC sounds like a great way to stay away from the pots—I’m hoping I stop getting in my way! Cheers to successful DWC grows! Does the top drip need to reach the current roots or just wet the rocks? I notice the rocks stay wet even if the water isn’t directly hitting the roots. How do you control the water temp? It feels frigid to me, but I love scorching hot water.
