Hello everyone,
Excited to kick off my grow diary with the Frisian Dew from Dutch Passion.
It's day one, and I've planted my seeds about 2 cm deep—a method that's worked well for me in the past. I keep on fillling the remaining space with soil as soon as plant grows. I was pleasantly surprised to see seeds germinating just a day using this method (4/4 times)! I've got a good feeling about this strain; it's reputed to be all-weather and mold-resistant, perfect for the early start I've planned.
Looking forward to sharing this journey and picking up some wisdom along the way as I dive into growing my first Frisian Dew. Most probably will keep this one in 3 gallon air pot for 15-18 weeks, I have planted 2 of them simultaneously so will keep the better genetics one in 7 gallon pot as mother female throughout summer.
Let the adventure begin!
Nothing much started with this fem looks good till now. Expecting a 20+ weeks diary first fem with an early start for outdoors.
It's in a greenhouse with my other grows.
Frisian Dew At week 3. Looks good and Ready to be finned. I count the weeks from day the seeds are in the soil so I will fin them by the start of next week.
Lets see How they perform
Hello everyone,
We're at Week 4 with the Frisian Dew. Both plants are doing good, enjoying 6-7 hours of direct sunlight and a total of 14-15 hours of daylight. I recently fimed them, and I'm happy to report that they've shown no signs of damage. It looks like the fiming was successful—I'm expecting new nodes to develop.
I'll give them a week to catch up on growth. Moving forward, I plan to experiment extensively with one plant while keeping the other mostly untouched, aside from routine trimming. They're set for a lengthy vegetative period of 10-12 weeks. May be I will take few clones after 2 weeks.
This setup has turned out to be quite impressive, which makes me think I should have opted for more feminized seeds from the start. Nonetheless, I'm excited to begin cultivating two new strains. The plant in the 7-gallon pot is doing exceptionally well to topping and is outpacing its 5-gallon counterpart. I've taken two clones from each plant; despite the rough handling, 3 out of 4 are doing great.
Also topped the 7-gallon pot with some soil.
I'm particularly impressed with their growth despite receiving less direct sunlight. I haven't been bringing them indoors, yet they are growing faster than the autoflowers I started at the same time. As the end of the season approaches, I'm optimistic about their potential size, especially since planting started in early April.
Happy Growing.
Frisian Dew is doing great. The weather isn’t very good, with average lows around 13°C even in June. But still, it’s growing massive—really massive. I took 6-7 clones, and 5 are doing good. I'm also happy that I decided to go for 1 fem early with autos. They’re taking more time, but it makes more sense for growing. The bigger pot showed better growth, becoming bushy with more tops and nodes after cloning.
For the 7-gallon plant, I have 5-6 tops. It will need a bit more HST this week. The 5-gallon plant has 2 tops; I messed up a bit while topping initially, but it’s still looking impressive.
By the start of July, I’ll transplant all the clones outdoors. These dews are growing completely outdoors and facing a tough summer here in Germany.
I’ll start 2 new diaries as soon as I get time. Been quite busy with work and setting up the indoor grow this past week.
For watering and nutes: I use pH-balanced water and a nutrient mix in alternate waterings. No signs of undernourishment, and with 2 more months of veg, I'm being careful about the height too.
So, 85 days since germination and the plants are getting big! Surprised by the size, I’m now keeping an eye on how to manage their space. Daily growth is visible with new nodes appearing constantly.
Handled an aphid problem quickly with neem soap and water, and it’s under control now. I’ve been more precise with nitrogen after noticing it contributed to the aphid issue. Removed fish oil from my feeding schedule, now just using grow and bloom nutrients. Stopped adding top max and maintaining pH around 6—keeping it simple has really helped these past two weeks.
Had to do some heavy defoliation and topping earlier because they were too bushy. Seems like the right move, as they’re developing well with many tops.
On the cloning front, success! I’m really proud. The first couple of clones are thriving, and four more are showing strong roots. Considering whether to transfer all clones into one big pot or keep them in separate small pots once space frees up from the autos. Curious to see if I end up sticking to one strain or diversify.
All plants are outdoors now, aiming for a natural growth cycle. Over the next couple of months, I’m curious to see how much they’ll grow as they start flowering. My autos really doubled in size.
Keeping an eye out for mold or mildew—really hoping to avoid those issues. Planning to give away some clones to my friends and keeping it to 4-5 plants for harvest. Let’s see what happens!
Hello everyone! it’s been a long time since my last post. The plants have been growing well, and I managed to take many clones from them. I have to keep them below a certain height to avoid issues with my neighbors, so the max height is crucial.
I had two strong mother plants, and I took around 10 or 11 clones. Now, I have four clones left, besides the two mother plants. Some clones are with friends, and others I couldn’t grow.
Both the plants are purple strains and they smell very strong and nice. They have unique scent profiles which I really like.
I’ll give it another week or two and hope for the best. The buds are filling out nicely, though the plants aren’t growing much taller. The buds are improving each day. I plan to harvest the first plant soon and the others about a week after that. I’m trying to harvest before November to avoid frost that could damage the plants.
One of the mother plants flowered a bit late, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. The largest one has started budding and will need about three to four more weeks to reach full maturity.
That’s it for now. Let’s hope everything turns out well!
@birdmountain, It looks like we're both going with Euforia too.
Germination tray idea was helpful from your diary IDK how I missed it; better than managing small cups.
Happy growing and keep sharing your progress too. 🌱✌️
@Ivatt90, Hey! I simply took a small node that seemed big enough and placed it in small cups. All you need to do is water them every day and avoid trimming the branches too short. From what I've seen in YouTube videos, a slight trim is important but otherwise, they do quite well just leave them on their own for 3 weeks or so.
Out of seven, six survived and I repotted three of them today. The root system they developed was incredible. I'll definitely share pictures of the other three next week. To be honest, I experimented with basil and mint using the same methods, and they were fast and robust. Don't worry, you can go ahead after week 4 but make sure to check out some YouTube videos first.
