First legal grow after 2 kinda failed ones a few years ago. now that its legal in germany i give it another try for my own personal use again. Im starting off with sweet ZZ by RQS. i had these seeds laying around some years now and still tryed to just give them into jiffys directly but i will not do that again. There was just one that popped sadly. Still lerning from mistakes
i tryed FIMing mid week for the first time and have to wait for momentum to pick up again for the 4 new main stems a little, but i want to keep her small in height because of the 160cm tent size and the NDL setup i am useing.
she bushes up and grows, mainly on the side because of the FIMing, but 2 of the side branches are actually overtakeing the main stem. i realized too late that i should have LST these 2 because they already kinda hardened up and are getting a little close to their upper neighbour branch. (edit: LST applied few days later in the next week without a problem)
day 1: just flipped today to flower cycle and cant wait to see results. i see many leafs starting to get yellow tips but i just used light mix with a little smaller ammounts of bio felitizer than needed. might be water PH or something else but i guess she will be fine hopefully. also started LST for 2 of the side stems because they outgrown the rest of the plant and that way i can lower my NDL again for all the lower leafs. before i strapped her down she was about 35cm in height and now the max height is about 30cm
day 3: Figured out my water has a 7,8 PH and ordered PH down now. hope i can fix my yellow leaf tip ends like that.
day 6: while im waiting for the PH down to arrive i used a old 7,0 ph liquid wich i had laying around and it seems like that helped the plant a little, even when it was just enough to bring 700ml down to 7.2ph.
day 1- first sings of the pistils visible for the bare eye
day 3 - all bud sites got their first calyces and pistiles now and seem to grow quiet fast and healthy. still waiting for my PH down but seems like it will take about 2 more weeks because of the high demand in germany right now after legalizeing. i guess she will be fine with just still the tiny mini yellow tips at the end of the leafs.
day 1- no visible stretch since yesterday, so maybe the stretch has already stopped, gonna measure tomorrow again
day 3 - she has grown to 49.5 but the stretch is now slowing down as expected
day 4 - PH down finally arrived and is in use now, also new filter has been installed because the recent one was way too old for a real flowering smell that i am awaiting soon
day 5 - defoliated one last time. 6 fan leaves from the middle had to go so more light can get into the plant and reach lower budsites
day 1 - shes getting her sugar on the leafs now clearly and you can start to really notice her smell after just a few minutes of the tent being open. not too strong of a smell yet but there is still much time to improve, really happy with the bud developement so far!!!
day 4 - trichome producktion is just kickin off since 1-2 days, love to smell her sweetness. stretch has come to a stop a few days also.
day 6 - when i opened the tent today she was showing me her flowers big. there was a big diffrence visible for my eye from last open yesterday to today and i like it! the pistils on the main bud start to get orange color and the others also seem to get a few pistols with color totay!
4 weeks flower and half way done now! i took off some leafs that where touching buds to prevent mold, beside that pretty much straight up watering and waiting
she looks a little diffrent on some of the pics because of the light i used, hope you dont mind the better lighting and some other perspectives to look at her 😏
day 3 - yesterday i chopped up a banana and put it into boiling water and let it sit for about 8 hours. now i use the extract as fertilizer just because i want to try it out for my next grow, the amnesia haze wich will be outdoors on the balcony. I use 400ml tab water for 100ml of the banana extract to feed her just for once now. maybe if she likes it i give her a little more. i think it might be a great natural addition to the organic fertilizer i am useing
day 1 - flower week 6 has now started and i want to H²O stress her in the next 2-3 weeks in hope to get her metabolism to work faster. it works by fakeing that the plant has a dry year and might not have enought water to stay alive till she can reproduce. so she starts to work faster and goes turbo (bro science explainaition). thats what i want to try here so dont expect it to work out perfectly. i watered her every day before this week and i will reduce by about 40%. i will still spray the soil every day a little bit when the light turns on but only every other day she will get her usual water dosage (about 600-700ml)
day 2 - week 7 of flower has started and tbh it feels like the flowers are not growing too much at the moment. lets just hope paitience pays out and just continue just as before. she is still being H2O stressed, but not only getting water every other day. if i see her leafs hanging in the day time i also give her a good amount of water so shes not being tortured :)
day 5 - got a new LED light today, so no more shitty NDL pics. also i found brown leaf tips on some sugar leafs and i will give her more water now. at least a little. i think it is caused by too much H2O stress. i will keep you updated on that
day 7 - day 2 i said it feels like the buds aint grow fast enought, but if i compare todays pictures with last weeks i think she is doing just great! still will have to give her at least 1 or 2 more weeks until i can think about harvesting but she looks good in my opinion! because of H2O stress, she got a little more water now and also the tips are just fine and seem to dont brown out any further.
day 1 - as i looked at the trichomes today on the highest main bud, the sugar leafs already containen loads of amber trichomes! but only like 1% on the bud itself. i will harvest that particiullar bud in the next few days and let the lamp a little lower for the other buds.
- a little later - i cut the bud ^^
day 3 - 2 of the big fan leaves started showing deficencies and i gave her 2.5ml/500ml for once of my old af canna bloom so she got some last direct nutrients.
day 5 - still some are clear and just very rarely i am spotting amber colored trichomes on the bud itself. canna bloom also worked out good for her. the leaves look a little more vital again for her last week
day 6 - today i sampled the bud wich i harvest the start of the week. even when it is not the finished product, in the vape it was a good smokeable product wich had really tasty terps. you really understand why the name of the strain is called sweet ZZ and it just taste like i just ate cotton candy after smokeing the vaporizer. i cant wait to harvest her in a few days and try the finished end product!!! 😵
day 1 of week 9. i was really sadisfyed with the product sample of last week so i do not want to let any trichomes on the bud itself get amber too much. now still got to wait for the end product. also bought equipment for cureing so i am all set up for after drying. also bought some bubble bags and will collect leafs with trichomes and popcorn buds for bubble hash if it will be enought. if not, i will store it and wait after i did my next grow to do a bigger batch
