Hello all! This is my first grow posted but probably my 6-7th total grow. I use Rumpleforeskins DWC "bubble bucket", as well as his "Clone Machine" also homemade for less than $50. If you aren't familiar with him you should google his name; it works wonderfully and you can make them as elaborate or as simple as you need. I have had 100% clone success rate with his cloner using simple tap water. I even saved a squash plant from my fiancés garden that the puppy had gotten to.
But I'm rambling, your here for bud right! Okay!
I have been growing this particular strain for four months. The first harvest was from seed but mostly so I can select the phenotype. I almost always grow Nirvana Shop seeds as I have the best germination success with them. I am a mixture of high level techniques and affordability. I start my seeds in a Rapid Rooter Starter Pod, in the same grow tent that I veg and clone in, once I select the plants I want I keep them as mothers for my main grow. Google how to cut clones if you are not familiar, I use tap water and no hormone or rooting gel, and have had 100% success (after struggling for around 8 months with other methods) under these conditions with Rumple's clone machine.
I put my clones into a half strength General Hydroponics Trio mix, once rooted which can take from 10-20 days, the warmer the better. A single large air stone and General Hydro Air pumps. Now I will say Gen Hydro does not have the most powerful pumps, but I have noticed they are very reliable and relatively resistant to spills and moisture as compared to other brands I have used. If you don't have much money and need something solid go with Gen Hydro.
Once they get around this size during week two, I go ahead and give them an adult dose (still half strength) even though the nutrient schedule says to treat clones as seedlings. The cloner is off to the right under indirect light from the 600W MH these are under. If you notice two plants are smaller, they were Topped at the 5th Node vs FIM'd. Notice I tend to have much less growth slowdown with the FIMming, than topping however the topping is more accurate at designing the plant. If you are strict about plant design or are manifolding ( I only topped those two plants as I am experimenting with manifolding for the first time), you should top, otherwise I suggest learning to FIM, its much less stressful.
In actuality, you do not, at least as far as I know in DWC, need to give clones a seedling dose after they have rooted into the reservoir. Since the clone is technically an adult plant (genetically?), it tends to do much better with an appropriate dose of nudes once its roots have been established. I only do a two week veg if I grow clones because if I give them a month they will quickly outgrow even my 8x8 tent.
I ALMOST FORGOT. IF YOU GROW IN HYDRO YOU ABOSOLUTELY NEED BOTANICARE HYDROGUARD.
It will protect your plants against root rot, it is a helpful bacterium that will consume your nutes and convert them to a form more readily absorbed by your plants, while outcompeating destructive bacteria. I have grown plants in 80 degree water with this stuff. It is not optional, unless you keep your plants at a FDA level of sanitation and your water chilled to perfect temperature. Even still a gallon of Botanicare Hydroguard is much cheaper.
Forgot to take photos these first two weeks. :( I usually wait until flower to use the stretch to fill in my trellis. This particular strain dosent seem to stretch too, too much (Unlike say AK-48, which should just be called Giraffe) so I haven't had issues with this method.
They are finally stretched into the trellis. Though many do their training in veg I do mine during these first couple weeks of flower since I only have a two week veg. Around this time I also switch my nutes to the flowering schedule shown above.
Also I am aware my humidity is high but with the resources and climate I am dealing with it is the best I can do.
Now we are cooking with fire! The trellis is filled and we are looking great. My only issue at this point is the humidity but there isn't much I can do about it now. The plants bubblegum and jolly rancher notes are beginning to fill the room and make it quite deliciously dank.
Chugging along nice like!
Not much to say here, trying to maintain these girls in this condition means they drink a lot, so one must be nute careful. Otherwise we are just trimming things that look like they will sap the choice colas on top and then simply letting her bud out!
Oooooooh yeah shes getting THICC. The budlets are fatting up quicker than my past grows, I feel like I have already met the weight and we still have at least two weeks left!!!
This particular pheno (or at least this particular plant) begins to pull all the nitrogen out of her leaves toward the end, I have grown this plant many times, its very odd, and the first time I overcompensated with nitrogen. They turn a stark yellow but don't become weak and fall off (except at the very bottom of the plant). It dosent seem to slow the plant down much regardless of how disconcerting it is to me as a grower. Regardless I chose this pheno because it shows the bubblegum smell and taste the strain is known for.
Now we play the waiting game :P. These pics were taking at the beginning of this week but I will update you all at the end, so we can compare the growth!
They are really getting stinky now just like candy, thankfully I am growing hydro because whenever I open the tent fruit flies zerg in from every part of the house hoping for a meal lol I cant imagine how you soil guys do it!
Right now I'm just maintaining and trying to drop temp and humidity when I can, not to much luck. I have my lights around 6' further than normal so hopefully that will help.
