First time trying to grow myself, and wanted to see if it can be done extremely casually. Not expecting much, just having fun and trying to learn. The experiment is trying to grow organic outdoors in zone 8b (Denmark). Whenever possible, I aim to mostly use stuff I already have/use each season for new plants and herbs inside/outside. No artificial lights, only organic nutes and tap water. I started germinating my first batch of mixed seeds mid April. I knew it would probably be too early, but I wanted to do 2 starting dates and learn from the early seeds to improve. Germinated and planted 11 seeds in a domed seedbox in the windowsill. Kept humidity 60-70%, while temperatures varied depending on sun exposure. PH should be ~6. In the windowsill they currently get ~8 hours of sun. They will get more when I am able to move them outside. I have fabric pots for the next round, but the first batch of seeds is just for learning. After 1 week (PICTURE 1) I planted 1 of each strain in degradable containers and put the containers in soil in pots. Left 1 of each seed in the seedbox removing the lid. After 3-4 days when the transplants acclimatized, I started taking them outside in the sun for 1-2 hours a day. Not sure if the sun was too strong or the weather too cold (around 15-17 Celsius in the shade), but they reacted very poorly and crumbled up, so I gave up on those. 2 weeks after germinating, I have now transplanted the rest from the seedbox to pots, buried most of the stem due to stretching and now keeping them in the windowsill

When should I start introducing the plants to the outside during the day (max 15-20 celcius currently) - or are they still too fragile?

Hello friend , I took them outside from week 3 onwards when they were strong enough , temperatures ranged between 8-25 day and night and they turned out fine . The ruderalis gene really makes them resistant . Also , protect them from strong winds and you should be ok

Is the auto showing signs of flowering at the top? It is only 1 months since I planted the seed and is is only ~15 cm tall? Thanks

It is starting to flower, It might still stretch a bit but not a whole lot. Autos can be stressed into early flower by a lot of factors like over fertilization or HST, They seem to be more prone to reactions to the root zone aka no transplants. They can also do this all on their own and sometimes veg for 7 weeks before going into flower and at that point it would be better to just grow a photoperiod. One note on transplants some can do it so gently that they do not react, It just easier to not do it and avoid any potentinal messup. Maybe try photoperiods next or a different strain of auto that can take a bit more abuse. I had descent sized plants with FastBuds mexcian airlines outdoors one year. I even accidentally topped it once and it worked out well. I was not a fan of the buds profile, taste, high, looks, but i am picky and do not like crazy high THC strains. Other I gave it to did like it. to each their own. Good Luck!

The 2 strongest of the first grow looks like this exactly 30 days after planting the seed :/ Given up on this batch, but will let them go and see what I can learn.

Don’t worry, I’ve given up on this plant. But I’m wondering what the black stuff is around the top? Thanks

Anthocyanins, is a flavonoid that are found in cannabis, they are the resson buds turn purple color. Some strains produce more Anthocyanins than others. Looks like your plant is going to be a purple plant. I hope this helps.

Too stunted early on to recover, but they are seeing their lives out for science. Should have been repotted in larger fabric pots with more and better soil long ago, but at their current state I feel like it would do more harm than good? Had to leave them alone for a few days outside, but gave them a good watering with 1/2 dose of organic nutes. Temps ranged from 12-25 celsius, but attempted to keep humidity up surrounded by other smaller plants and a DIY water drip. Greetings from the plant hospice

6 weeks since seeds planted and not much is happening with these two. Weather has been acting up, so 6-11 hours of direct sun. Watering every 2-3 days, every second watering with organic nutes. Fingers crossed I get to try out drying and curing to try and get 1 marijuana :)

I’m really just trying to learn. These were severely stunted early on. If you had to guess, will these even yield anything to try my hands at drying and curing? Second batch of autos postponed until mid June. Appreciate it :)

They'll yield something, might even grow a little bit bigger, but it's not going to be substantial. In all honesty, autos are a poor choice for a first grow. Every "oopsy" adds up and the timetable an auto runs on makes recovering from mistakes challenging. Photoperiod plants give you more wiggle room to learn, though outdoors you don't have the total control of their change like you would indoors. For your next batch of autos, here's a few tips to maybe help you find better results: 1. Your hours of daylight have been too low. Outside I know that this is out of your control but help it as much as possible by eliminating shading on your plants. Give them as much uninterrupted light as possible, usually along a wall isn't the best spot unless it's south facing. While they're still small enough you may even want to consider bringing them inside at night for supplemental lighting. 2. Get better pots. Terracotta pots are great for houseplants but awful for cannabis. Houseplants don't feed nearly as heavy as cannabis does and those types of pots don't drain well enough for frequent watering, so your plants usually end up starved or overwatered. 3. Don't be too hard on yourself. Growing weed isn't as intuitive as growing tomatoes. Knowledge isn't as widespread and different sources are often conflicting in their advice. While learning the ropes, locate a source of info that you can trust. I'm a big fan of growweedeasy.com, good info presented in a way that's easy to follow that's scaled to fit about any skill level.

I know this is basically a failed first grow, but still trying to learn for my next runs. Would this plant benefit from removing some of the fan leaves at this point? If so, only the ones near the bottom? Thanks !

Everything looks fine. There is no sense in cutting something. You would cut: 1. Lower Leavess not getting light 2. Upper Leaves that take to much light for others ,but you dont have those. The structure is good, just the size is bit small

23/6 not much is happening to be honest. I’m just trying to check the colour of trichomes and being patient. Quite a bit to go with one I think, but the darker / smaller one should be nearing chopping time. Trichomes are getting milky and she is stsrting to use the energy from the leaves

29/6 10 weeks after the seeds were put in the ground, the two survivors were harvested. They were tiny, not growing and the trichomes had started to turn amber. As we are looking at heavy rains in the coming days, and I wanted to focus on the other plants, I decided to chop. Cut the whole plants and dipped them in water with hydrogen peroxide, then clean water and hung them to dry for a bit. Did a rough trim and hung on a hanger in box a dark closet with ~24c degrees (too high I know) and ~50% RH. Left some more leaves on the dark one, as that is for a batch of canna oil. Even though 28g/1 ounce WET is a poor yield, hopefully they will survive drying and curing so I get to try my own grow 🤞 PS. included a shot of the roots. As expected, they were severely stunted too. Wondering whether it was too little sun or poor watering.
