Nyu1337 Germany legalizes cultivation. Let's see what we can do on our southeast balcony in Munich.
The seeds are from Seeds66. I chose the supposedly easy-to-care-for Northern Lights Automatic. According to the description, they should be ready in 75 days.
My rough plan looks like this:

Germination will happen after a 24-hour soak in a glass of water, followed by wet towels.
2/3 have germinated well. The third one somehow got stuck. My goal was only 2 plants anyway. I wanted to select the best germinated ones. So the decision was made for me.
The first of the two NLA is stretching its head out. Unfortunately, the second one didn't take. I've now put a Critical Extreme Automatic to germinate as a replacement (free seed).

Nyu1337 I planted directly into the large fabric pot after 2 days in the cup. At night, the temperatures are still colder (~10°), so I’m putting a cup over it just to be safe.
The seedling is in seedling soil, then a mixed transition so that the plant can slowly grow into the pre-fertilized soil. There’s 2 cm of drainage at the bottom of the pot. I also stretched the soil a bit with granules and coconut fibers.
I gave up on NLA/2 today. However, the CEA has successfully germinated and is currently in the cup. It started exactly one week late.
The weather is currently cool and cloudy.

Nyu1337 Die erste Woche im Freien verlief problemlos. Um später genug Platz für LST zu haben, habe ich die Pflanze am Rand des Topfs gepflanzt. Gedüngt wird noch nicht.
Die zweite Wachstumswoche startet regnerisch mit kühlen Temperaturen.
Die CEA möchte bisher immer noch nicht aus der Erde kommen. Mittlerweile sind aber auch die Qualitätssamen von SensiSeeds angekommen (nach 1 Monat Lieferzeit), vielleicht muss ich da nochmal welche nachlegen.
Die CEA habe ich scheinbar ertränkt. Dafür sind die 2 Sticky Orange XXL Automatik von Sensi Seeds erfolgreich gekeimt. Eine von beiden befindet sich bereits im großen Topf. Ich möchte eigentlich nur 2 Pflanzen haben, was mit dem anderen Keimling passiert, weiß ich noch nicht.
Im Vergleich zur Northern Lights, gehen die SOXA mit 2 Wochen Verspätung ins Rennen.
Hab den 2ten von der Sticky Orange jetzt mal für Testzwecke in reines Kokos gesetzt. Erhoffe mir da nicht viel, außer mehr zu lernen.

Nyu1337 The third week of growth is here. It feels like the NLA is a bit small for its age. I’ll blame that on the still low nighttime temperatures, sometimes below 10°.
The week starts with plenty of watering. For the next watering, I’ll start with fertilizing. From the next leaf pair, I’ll also begin with some LST.
The SOXA looks okay so far.

Nyu1337 Cool and cloudy weather. The NLA is way too small for its age. I'm curious if it will even turn out okay.
The NLA looks sick. It has developed brown spots.
I'm ignoring the spots for now as long as the new leaves look good again. Overall, both plants are quite small. The NLA is going into flowering right on schedule.
I've learned that you need to be relentless with Autoflowers every day. Otherwise, you have to use a lamp in bad weather. My ladies are going to stay small. Learned a lot so far ;)

Nyu1337 The weather remains modest. Rainy days are coming up again soon. The plants are longing for sunshine. I hope that the NLA still makes use of the next few days to put on some growth. However, not much will come of it.
The SOXA is 14 days behind. She also needs to pick up the pace a bit now. I'm going to leave the LST completely as it just costs extra energy. She only has 2 weeks left until flowering.
For the next round, I've already noted down some things that I want to do "better."
The week ends as it began, rainy and cool.

That could very well be it. I don't know of anything that has that dramatic of a symptom with the contrast from green to yellow and no other signs of stress.
Best to no spray the plant sunless you treating a pest and even then, never in full sun always shade/overcast. the little water beads on its leaves turn into mini magnifying glasses and burn em. and If the spray was to strong the salts in it also burn.

Nyu1337 I was on vacation last week, and the two ladies handled my vacation watering without any issues.
The NLA is starting to stretch. I applied some serious LST again and took a couple of leaves off. From now on, she can grow to the end like this.
I'm leaving the SOXA as it is. It's showing the first signs of flowering. The weather is getting better, and you can tell how much the two ladies are enjoying it.
Sure, both are quite small for their age, but I think that in the end, for the effort I'm putting in, something will come out of it.
I've learned a lot so far and I'm still experimenting. I'm starting my next grow in two weeks.
I find the different phenotypes very interesting. The SOXA looks much more like an Indica. The leaf green is also noticeably lighter.

Nyu1337 Die Sonne tut so gut. Gerade die SOXA hat nochmal richtig zugelegt. Beide Pflanzen schauen sehr gesund aus. Gedüngt wird aktuell mit dem Compo Blüte Dünger nach Herstellerangaben.
Der Sommer ist da. Die Temperaturen steigen. Ich muss täglich gießen und packe einen Liter pro Pflanze rein.
Ich finde den kompakten Wuchs mit LST viel besser, die SOXA geht mir gefühlt zu sehr in die Höhe. Ich merke gerade, dass für mein Setting da auf dem Balkon so eine flache LST-Pflanze deutlich besser passt. Beim nächsten Mal dann.
Hier vielleicht noch erwähnt: Habe mich auch für die NLA entschieden, weil sie angeblich wenig riecht, und das kann ich hier bestätigen. Klar riecht es nach Cannabis, aber nicht so, dass ich die Nachbarschaft damit einhülle. Wenn ich mein Neemöl auf die Erdbeeren sprühe, riecht das deutlich schlimmer ;)

Nyu1337 We're approaching the finish line. The buds of the NLA are getting bigger every day. Thanks to the LST, it has stayed super compact.
The SOXA has made an incredible stretch and has grown 20cm in the last week. Unlike the NLA, I've really only stretched 2 branches a bit to the side here. No cutting, no LST, nothing.
Apparently, according to the breeder, the NLA should be ready next week. I don't really believe that. I ordered a pocket microscope to check out the trichomes.

Nyu1337 Final stretch! The NLA is no longer being fertilized. It only gets water now. The microscope shows partly milky trichomes. The buds are rather small, but for the effort, they're quite okay.
The SOXA has really stepped it up. It still needs at least 3 more weeks.
Both plants are adding more flowering mass daily. I feel like the NLA still needs a bit more time, and the SOXA definitely does, since it was started 14 days later.

Nyu1337 According to the manufacturer, the plant should be ready this week, which I strongly doubt. A look under the microscope also shows still clear trichomes on the NLA. Only on the sugar leaves are they milky and amber-colored.
At first glance, I expect significantly more yield from the Sticky Orange.
From now on, it's all about being patient and letting the buds fatten up.
There were aphids on a few leaves. I was able to remove them by hand.

Nyu1337 We're going into the 12th week and the last week for the NLA. A look through the microscope shows beautiful milky trichomes with some amber ones. The plant is no longer being watered. I'm still looking for a good day to harvest.
The SOXA is also almost done, but I'm waiting about another week. It feels like the buds aren't getting much bigger anymore.

Nyu1337 The Sticky Orange is still outside. She's only getting water now. She's also starting to drop her sun leaves. So it's coming to an end. Currently, I'm checking the trichomes daily and removing aphids if present.
The buds look super resinous. They're also bigger and denser than with the NLA.
According to the manufacturer, she should be done after 75 days. I can't confirm that.

Die NLA ist eine schöne Pflanze. Kinderleicht zum Anbauen. Der Wurzelballen war allerdings kleiner als erwartet. Trotz miesem Regenwetter kein Schimmel und kein Mehltau. Lediglich zum Schluss kamen ein paar Blattläuse.
Geschmack und Geruch gehen leicht in Richtung Zitrone. Der Effekt ist angenehm und fängt im Kopf an und geht dann in den Körper.

Nyu1337 Chop chop... It's done. The NLA has been successfully harvested. Here and there were a few aphids on the leaves, but it was manageable.
Due to the balcony grow, I had to diligently pick out all sorts of critters from the plant with tweezers. In the end, I was able to harvest some really nice buds. I only removed the larger leaves.
The rest is going into a box to dry.
A week later, everything is packed up (gnihihi). The result is very fluffy buds. The total amount in the jar from the NLA is 12g.
Together with the second plant that will be added, I'm quite satisfied with the first grow and of course, proud as a peacock :)

Hey :) I'm going to keep an eye on this. I was also thinking about planting the seeds more towards the edge, but I've only seen that everyone puts them in the middle with LST. I'm already at the edge of my (small) pots in my grow, so having more space would be great... Do you know if off-center planting has any disadvantages for root growth? :)

@dubby_M, in combination with the fabric pot, I assume that's not a problem. With plastic pots, I can imagine that you wouldn't want the roots to grow too quickly along the edge (root circling issue).
In the end, after the harvest, I'll see if the plant has fully rooted the entire pot.

@dubby_m, I had no problems with that at all and the LST was definitely easier! I should also mention that it's a pretty big pot (38l Airpot), which prevents root circling.

Hey dideldido neighbor, are those the northern lights automatics? I'm currently eyeing this strain for the second batch in the summer. It seems to handle our dream worlds quite well!

@Marmelade, the bigger one is the Northern Lights Automatic, the smaller one is a Sticky Orange Automatic. For the lousy weather, the heavy rain, and the low temperatures, it handles it quite well. No mold, no powdery mildew. A bit slow in growth with the climate, but otherwise super easy.
