Hi all,
welcome to my grow diary for my automatic strains in 2024. I'll be using one Runtz F1 hybrid auto from Zamnesia seeds and two gorilla glue #4 from Fast Buds.
For germination I put the seeds for 24h in a glas of water and afterwards I put them into a paper towel for another 24h (roots of approx 2cm were visible). After that I moved them into nutrient-poor soil (0,5l pots). Into the soil I added a bit of mycorrhiza and watered it with 150ml.
For the first part of the vegetation phase I'll be using my little breeder with a 20W LED. Light on/off period per day is 18h/6h. The temperature in the little grow house is 25°C when the light is on and 20°C when it's off (thanks to the heat mat).
So let's see how the little babies will grow in the next weeks...
All are doing fine. No issues till now. Hope it will go on like this.
7 days ago I watered them with 140ml. Today they'll get their next portion of water.
All 3 grew strong during the week. Compared to my plants from the photo grow they really grew fast and they have definitely bigger leafs after 2 weeks. I also saw that in the 0,5l pots the roots are already coming out of the bottom of the pots. Therefore today I moved all into the new and final pots of 11l. Into the soil (Compo Sana 50% lighter) I added mycorrhiza and a little bit of fertilizer. The first 5 centimeters around the plants I added nutrient-poor soil to give them some time before getting in contact with the fertilizer in a few weeks.
After moving them into the new pots I watered them with 3l each.
This week everything went fine. The 2 Gorillas (approx. 30cm) are growing a bit faster than the Runtz (approx. 20cm), but also Runtz is doing fine. Compared to my photo grow the trunks seem to be a bit more solid (perhaps this is coming from the ruderalis part...don't know).
Let's see what the ladies are doing next week...
Also my photo grow is doing good this week. The girls are enjoying the sunnier days now.
This week they got the first shot of nutrients. I gave them 1/6 of the recommended dose. I will increase it over the next weeks.
The first one is showing first signs of flowers...
The only thing that is a bit strange to me, is that the 3 plants are gaining height, but are still not getting bushy...but perhaps time brings bushiness ;-)
Not much sun this week, but anyway the autos are doing fine. The flowers are getting bigger, as you can see in the last three pictures. The heights of the 3 girls is very different:
- Runtz: 45cm
- GG#4 No.1 and No2.: 70 cm
The girls are doing fine, although the sun is not shining much. Next week I'll increase the nutrient dose to the half of the recommended amount (currently I'm using a factor of 0,25 - considering that the autos are not needing as much nutrients as photos).
It's very nice watching the buds growing 😍 (see last few pictures above).
The height of the plants is as follows:
GG#4 No.1 and No.2: approx. 90 cm
Runtz F1 Auto: 53 cm
In general my Autos are doing fine. Except GG#4 No.1 has a little issue with the leaves. As you can see in the last picture from above, there are little brown dots on almost every leaf. I guess it's a CalMag deficiency. The only thing that speaks against it is that GG#4 No.2 has the same conditions and is not affected by this issue. The most important thing is that it's not destroying my harvest and that it's not infectious...
Today I increased the nutrients to half of the recommended dose. Still giving nutrients only once a week (for my photos and autos).
Runtz F1 Auto: 54cm
GG#4 No.1: 100cm
GG#4 No.2: 100cm
It was raining almost the whole last week. Therefore the humidity was constantly high. I tried to protect the buds as good as I could (when inside I used a fan to push air through the buds and outside the plants were always covered to avoid direct rain). But unfortunately this didn't help and Runtz F1 Auto bud's got mildew. I had to remove about 1/3 of the cola as you can see in the pictures above. The poor little thing lost a bit of size 😉.
The GG#4s are doing fine. The buds are not so dense as the Runtz ones, but the size is increasing from week to week.
Runtz F1 Auto: 45 cm
GG#4 No.1: 100 cm
GG#4 No.2: 100 cm
The fight against mildew goes on. Today I have to remove 1 additional little bud. The high humidity during the day due to rain is a big challenge for the buds.
The two gorillas are not affected by the mildew issue, since the buds are not as dense as the ones from Runtz F1.
Approx. every 2nd day I'm checking the trichomes with a microscope. Most of them are still transparent. So at the moment the harvest is not very close.
GG#4 No.1: 100 cm
GG#4 No.2: 100 cm
Runtz F1 Auto: 45 cm
I flushed the 3 girls with approx. 30l each and of course stopped feeding them about 1 week ago. Therefore, as you can see in the pictures, the older leaves turn yellow. Most of trichomes are milky. We'll see when the girls are ready for the harvest.
GG#4 No.1: 100 cm
GG#4 No.2: 100 cm
Runtz F1 Auto: 45 cm
Everything is OK. Bud rot is stopped. The average of the trichomes are still transparent even if very, very few are already amber. So I have to be patient and wait for at least another week.
Still waiting for a good time for the harvest. GG#4 No.1 and No.2 will be the first ones (Sativa dominant). For them more and more trichomes are getting milky (approx. 40-50%) and I see already very, very few amber ones (approx. 1%).
Runtz F1 Auto will come later (Indica dominant).
I harvested them during the week, since most trichomes were milky and around 5% were amber.
I'm very happy with the result and now I'm hoping that everything will work fine with the drying process in the tent. The process might be a bit faster due to the higher temperatures at the moment (approx. 27°C in average; the humidity is controlled to around 50%).
I'll update the dry weight as soon as they are ready.
I wanted to harvest the plant in 1 or 2 weeks, but during the week I saw spider mites in the microscope. Therefore on the same day I started the harvest. To remove the spider mites I performed bud washing. After that I used a fan to dry the buds for approx. 12h. After that I put the buds into a freezer for some days to kill at least the rest of the spider mites which survived the bud washing. After that the drying process will start.
After I know the dry weight I'll update this.
