She’s already showing pistils and hasn’t started to really grow yet. Should I avoid topping? I’m afraid she won’t recover and I’ll hurt the potential yields.
Yeah I wouldundeniably avoid topping right now. I could go on a lecture, but to put it plaint you into the first week of flower and shes about to stretch and double in size. (flowering stretch) The last thing you want to do to an auto is top then at this point in time or you will dwarf your yields drastically. I highly recommend Low stress training(LST) as an alternative however! Hope I could help resolve your question PurpleDreamz! 😎
The flowering nodes on your plants look to be absolutely amazing. You've done such an amazing job with this grow so far and I'm so excited to see how these plants finish up as well as to hear how they smoke. Best wishes my friend :D
@PurpledDreamz apologies for the typos I am on mobile! edited answer below.

@HighTV,
Thanks for the feedback! Pretty much confirmed my fear: this isn’t the plant to top. I started her a little too soon and messed up the timing on my other flowering plants’ harvests. I do agree starting an auto 12-12 is a bad idea, but now I know for sure it’s not the best plan. I did seal my tent and add CO2 for the 12 hours of light for the last one to two weeks before I harvest. I’m hoping kicking it up to 82-85F and the CO2 can be sufficient to get a good growth spurt prior to the flower stretch.
Definitely going to tie down the colas for LST. If my yields completely suck I’ll probably just start another of the same seed.
@HighTV, you're right bro - thanks for pointing that pistil out lol good eyes ! and yeah man love your diary... you know me right always learning from you that's why i asked 😂👊

What up PurpleDreamz, I've taken a look at your photos, and I'm happy to tell you your plant is not showing pistils yet which is a good + normal thing at this stage in the growth. She's showing pre-flowers which is expected at this stage. You'll see pistills in 10 days more or less. It's a perfect time to top the top node, she'll be able to recover before hitting the actual flower phase. Yields wise topping helps some strains and hurts others , it's all about how crazy the apex dominance of the strain is. It's a cross between a cream strain (that likes topping) and a black strain (that doesnt like it as much), probably you'll do well topping, but the only way to know is to roll the dice ! hope this helps ! 🚀
@PurpleDreamz, Yes I know autos can use any light cycle although you should give it a dark period. Nowhere in the world is there 24hrs of light for 3 months straight.
@Frog_Fisher,
It was in the tent with a regular plant that was in flower. Auto’s can be put at any light amount and still succeed. Now that it’s harvested I set it to 24-0 in there.
