Popped some new beans last week and these are the results so far... I haven't started with nutes yet. I'm going to add some microbial additives next week to help develop the root zone. I plan to top one of these and leave the other alone to compare the results. I still have 6 more of these beans so it will be good data to have. My basic plan is to do a couple autoflower runs during the winter and spring months before switching back to photoperiod plants.
Cruising along here in early veg. It is so dry this time a year that my humidifier is struggling to keep moisture in the air. I've got it stabilized between 55-65% RH. Before I purchased the humidifier the environment was between 35-40%. As you can compare the 2 sets of photos taken 2 days apart the plants increased in size by about 35%. The next node should have 5 point fan leaves. I had some stretching issues so I lowered the lights this week from 18" above the canopy to 12". Next week I'll start to add some microbes to the feed.
Plants are starting to increase in size but growth is remaining slow. I believe this is because of the environment. I've 3 tents in one room, all with different needs. I've got one finishing up with late flowering, the other is being used to dry and this one is being used for veg. I'm going to move these into the tent that is drying by the next weekend.
This week we topped one girl and then moved both into the flowering tent. On day 23 we stopped using the 216w T5 lighting and started to use the 315w Cmh lighting. For this run I will start out with the light closer to the canopy and raise it as time goes by or as needed. I also plan on using an 18/6 lighting schedule. Once flowering starts I'll switch to Advanced Nutrients but I'll use 1/4 strength.
The plants are filling out very nice. One thing to note is that there is no way these will be done in 3 more weeks. It appears that they're starting to transition from veg to bloom this week. I'll be switching the nutes over to bloom feeding.
Pre-flower sites starting to show at the end of week 6. Will switch over to Advanced Nutrients next week for flowering. These 2 phenos slow for autoflowers.
These 2 phenos are really struggling with flower development. I'd say they're transitioning this week but they're well behind an 8 week finish. Probably 8 or more weeks to go. Other than that they're both very healthy and robust.
These 2 girls have to be the longest I've ever had autoflowers in veg. With that being said I will note that both of these phenos have a tremendous amount of flower sites. Hopefully everything works out in the end. The plants become limp frequently and seem to enjoy a damp root mass. They perk up the day after I water and get limp the day prior. Maybe I should water them when they get limp...
Swapped out of Bud Ignitor to Big Bud. I'm really happy with the amount of flower sites on the topped plant. I'm not very happy with bud development on either at the moment. Both phenotypes have exploded with pistil development but I'm still waiting for bud mass to appear.
Added some more nutrients to boost nitrogen. Lollipopped and defoliated to clear up some room and light canopy penetration. Girls are looking good so far.
Both of these phenos have a massive amount of fan leaves. At the end of the week, (not pictured) I removed a bunch of fan leaves from the pheno that wasn't topped. Both girls are healthy and the colas are starting to get larger in size. Aside from the amount of trimming that I'll have to do at the end, both of these appear to be producing towards a bountiful harvest.
The girls have looked real good throughout this grow. The one pheno is like the snufflugus with a shit ton of fan leaves.... The other is like a dream plant. A lot of big nugs all over the place.... Next week is going to be a killer week!
I fed them Overdrive all week long and will continue to do so until the end of next week. We shall see where she's at then. Guessing by the flower development these will take 3-4 more weeks to finish. While I feel these are more like photoperiods time-wise it looks like the harvest will be outstanding.
I stopped feeding the girls with nitrogen nutes this week. I switched over to my pre-flush routine serving them carbs and sweeteners. I'll be serving this up for the next week or so before switching them to total flush feeding. The colas are starting to fatten up. On the pheno that looks like snuffleupagus the main cola is larger than a hand grenade. The other pheno has some pretty big colas too. Getting really excited to see how the yield is on these two plants. I'm also dreading the trim job that they'll need.
Cruising right along with our first full week of flushing. Both plants are starting to fade a little. The finish line is in sight! Both phenos are stacking on some weight and frost.
I put the plant with the huge cola into darkness on day 110. She was cut down on day 112. Although the main cola is large, she is very spongy which is disappointing. The other plant needs a week or so to wrap up. Her nugs are super dense which I'm looking forward to trying. Just feeding her water every other day or two.
I chopped pheno one down on day 115. She'll be drying for the next couple of weeks while pheno two finishes up. I checked the trichomes on her 3 days ago and they were about 50/50 clear/cloudy.
