Seeds started 5/25/24 - Soaked in water for a few hours (3 EA zkittles /white widow), then placed into rapid rooter cubes that had been dunked in water (per instructions on the package)...Over the next couple days only 1 of the seeds came up which I placed into a 3 gallon pot (zkittles 1)...
On 6/2/24 I decided to start new seeds because none of the others had broken the tops of the rooter cubes and I feared I had oversaturated them (which I had).
I soaked this batch (3 WW x 2 Zkittles) in water for a few hours then transferred to a damp paper towel to sit overnight. Unfortunately/fortunately, the following day, I found 3 seeds from the original batch had begun to takeoff in the now-dry rooter cubes so I transferred them to 3 gallon pots and watered them(zkittles 2,3 & WW1)
On 6/4 the seeds from the second batch were ready for transfer to soil. I placed them in little cardboard soil buckets and placed them in the humidome
It appears I wasted two good seeds and am now stuck with 9 plants for this grow :)
The rest of the seedlings were transferred to pots this week. Transfer was pretty rough on the plants. The little cardboard buckets I made sucked. Will stick to paper towels, plastic cups and soil from now on! It will definitely take a week or two for the new seedlings to get re-rooted in the new soil, and being autoflowers, that time may be costly. We will see!
WW2,3,&4 and Skittles4&6 all ocean forest with bloodmeal and vermiculite
Skittles2 in the center is growing like a weed! WW1, Skittles2&3 are lagging a bit behind but still coming along nicely.
The plants from the newer batch don't seem to have made that much progress but that was to be expected with my sloppyness last week. Most growth at this point is hopefully below the soil.
Starting to get very hot outside. A/C in the house is struggling to keep up and temps are rising in the tent. I also don't have my tower fan or exhaust setup yet which I know isn't good but leaving the door and the vents open every day
Back Row - White Widow #4, #2, #1
Middle Row - White Widow #3, Skittles #5 & #4
Front Row - Skittles #3, #2 & #1
6-27-24 - topped ww2, ww1, s5, ww3, s2, s4... FIM ww4
7-4-24 - All plants stretched quite a bit through week 4. Flowers have started to appear on the first batch of plants which was a surprise. Gave them their first feed on 7-2-24
Couple things to note from this grow: The plants seem to prefer drier soil. Each day I check the plants and each day the leaves are praying to the light so I wait to the next day to see if the plants look thirsty and they don't. I've only been lightly watering once every 5-6 days and the plants thrive the last few days before I water even though the soil feels bone dry when I thumb it. I'm really just watering out of obligation because the plants have not once shown a sign of thirst.
They are quite a bit more smelly than what I've grown previously. Typically to this point I am used to minimal to no smell but these are noticeable and have been since they grew their first real leaves.
They are also super tolerant to just about everything. They absolutely eat light and rarely shy away when I crank it up. I could probably lower the light closer to the plants too. I'm at about 75% power. The temps have also been climbing higher in the tent with the increased light and the plants haven't minded at all. The humidity has been very constant though. 30-50% each day with no spikes
Week 6 - Plants coming in to flower. Lookin pretty good color wise but not much leaf matter on the widows in the back. They are kinda lanky as well. Not really progressing the way I'm looking for. Growth seems sorta stunted and bugs are kinda small.
Week 7 - Sometime this week I started to catch on that the plants were getting too much light. Cut it back to 50%ish and brought the light up about as much as I could. Big difference over the next few days especially for the skittles. I can tell the widows are still getting too much light but I'm going to leave it where it is for now. Probably will grow these two separately next time. I think the widows could do with far less light
Doing a lot better this week with the light cut back. Watering every few days now. Plants still like it pretty dry or so it seems. Feeding nutes about once per week
No de-leafing in the past few weeks whatsoever. Starting to loose a very small amount of the lower leaves
Two skittles in the front right have some pistils starting to turn orange. They are the two best looking by far. Skittles in the front left got a bit burnt.
Looks like I'll have some weak yields this go around but we will see how much they fill up through the rest of flower. Next time I'll know to really hold back the light on these autos. I've overdosed on the light once or twice before but typically it results in discoloration, twisting curling etc. These didn't do that. They just had real thin leaves and didn't grow new ones
