humpenholle Due to lack of space, I converted a fridge. The lights and ventilation are homemade. I used the LED Cree 3590 and mounted it on a PC cooler. The exhaust goes through 2 activated carbon filters. At first, I had quite a bit of pH value fluctuations. I found it more than difficult to adjust tap water. The next grow will start with distilled water and a bit of nutrients.

humpenholle So far no problems. The growth space isn't finished yet. That's why the plants are already in the flowering room. Regarding the nutrients, I need to feel my way back into it.

humpenholle Unfortunately, I missed taking a few pictures in week 4. But everything went pretty well. Temperatures and humidity were within a reasonable range. It's been topped multiple times. The space is very limited.

humpenholle It's going to be a SCROG. Roots look good. The grow is already much further along. I just haven't had the time to publish it yet. I've tried to let the side branches grow apart a bit.

humpenholle Flowering has begun. I've drastically changed the light to 12/12. I'm focusing on just 2 plants at a time and letting the other two go bad sooner or later. On the left is the Tangerine Dream (seeds from my previous lady, who was very stressed and hermied). On the right is the Cali-O.

humpenholle After the switch, they really put on some size. At the end of week 3, I wanted to stop the tying. Otherwise, no special occurrences.

humpenholle Always defoliating again. Space is the biggest problem with 0.24 m² of grow area. Added nutrients by feel. They're shooting up quite well.

humpenholle Even in the 3rd week of flowering, growth continues and there’s no end in sight. Defoliation is taking place repeatedly to ensure good air circulation.

humpenholle I've finished the tying down for now because I didn't know where else to tie everything. I've already set up the next plants in the lower part. I wanted to try a sativa dominance this time. I'll post the report after this one.

humpenholle As you can see, the space to the lamps is now very limited. It feels like the Tangie has stopped growing. I think the Cali-O is still growing a bit. The Tangerine is starting to smell more and more like a citrus fruit. The Cali-O buds are definitely growing much slower.

humpenholle Unfortunately a bit over-fertilized. The smell is getting stronger. Meanwhile, the buds of the Cali-O are developing more and more. The Tangerine has an amazing smell. Very citrusy.

humpenholle The lamp has now reached the very top. For the next grow, I definitely need to use a smaller container. I think tying down until the end of week 4 would have been better too.

humpenholle The smell is already quite strong by now. However, it's not noticeable from the outside due to the built-in activated carbon filters. The trichomes of the Tangerine are already very well developed. Unfortunately, the Tangerine has shown some hermaphroditism towards the end. At least that's my assumption. It shouldn't matter for the harvest in week 10, though.

Hey, is the fridge still running? I've thought about using a fridge for the grow a few times, mainly to lower the temperature at night and force the plant to purple. However, I'm worried about overheating it with the lamp. I'm curious to see how it works for you. Btw, is that a deep water system?

@DaddyGreenThumb, Hey, The fridge is still running and I harvested yesterday. I might manage to take some detailed pictures by the end of the week. The temperature stays around 24-25° at full lamp load. In the dark, it's about 19-20°. The temperature really depends on the fan settings. I built the circulation, ventilation, and exhaust on 12 volts and control them with speed controllers. I should check the fan values again. For watering, I have a box where the roots grow, and I pump the liquid from another container. It's like ebb and flow with sprinklers. I hope I explained it somewhat well.

@humpenholle, by the way, thanks for the tip about the Ebb and Flow, I’ve now built a stack of 60x40 Euro boxes into a (more or less) solar-powered Ebb and Flow system for my chilis. They love it, and I can dispose of the runoff from my plants, 1A. I’m still not completely at peace with how I want to build my new setup; right now I’m testing a drain to waste system, but organic fertilizer is just a mess. (edit: wtf half the comment got cut off) So an aeroponic setup is still my secret dream. It’s just a lot of work, and I’m not sure if I want it in my room, the pumps are quite loud.

Interesting project with the fridge. Where exactly did you have difficulties adjusting the pH value?
humpenholle
humpenholle commented2y ago
@b00dhaCheese, I initially only used tap water. The pH value was fluctuating quite a bit. For the next batch, I used distilled water with a bit of Canna Vega. The pH value hardly fluctuated at all this time. You never stop learning! 😁
