Dosidos Auto - Outdoor Balcony Grow (Germany) 2024
Very low effort for the first few weeks as I am curr traveling a lot. One of my Northen Lights seeds failed to sprout so I dug it out, watered the pot quite heavily, and dropped a Dosidos seed straight in.
Back from traveling. I guess this one has done ok given the lack of effort in the first couple of weeks. Lots of humidity and thunderstorms while I was away but the soil dried out after a day in the balcony greenhouse. Adding perlite seems to have made a difference!
Discovered my soil is severely lacking nitrogen in comparison to specialized mixed soil such as Light Mix, which might explain the slow growth. Top dressed with approximately 80g of 12-0-0 horn meal, and started feeding grow nutrients with every watering. Hopefully it still has time to get bigger.
Better weather this week saw some decent growth given the small size of the plant. Hopefully the extra nitrogen has time to get working before flowering starts.
Nice growth this week. Hot weather means more feeding. No signs of pre flowering yet. Moving in and out of the balcony greenhouse to shelter from heavy rains.
Still hitting that pre-flower stretch. Doubled in height this week and is now much taller than my Northern Lights plant despite being a week younger! Started adding a small amount of bloom nutrients with every second feeding so let’s call this the start of flowering; will increase the bloom nutrients next week. Let’s go!
Another week of stretching. It has tripled in height over the last couple of weeks! Buds are forming up nicely. Smell is getting a bit stronger but not overpowering. Increased the bloom nutrients to sync with my Northern Lights plant that is a week or so older - just too lazy to mix up separate batches!
Thirsty plant this week. Stretching has stopped and buds are filling out. Increased the bloom nutrients and cut down the grow nutrients with the intention of switching over entirely next week. Noticed a couple of yellowing lower leaves; could be the reduced nitrogen, or could just be part of the flowering. The smell on the balcony is much stronger now but that could also be my Northern Lights plant.
Yellowing of the lower leaves has started moving up the plant since I stopped the Grow nutrients. May need to start adding Grow again if this continues as I think this plant still has at least 3 or 4 weeks left to run.
Buds are getting fatter and the hairs are starting to curl in. Most of the big fan leaves have dropped now. I tend to give the yellow ones a gentle pull and if they don’t come off easily I leave them to drop on their own. Still feeding with Bloom nutrients. Possibly too heavily but we’ll find out soon.
Getting into the harvest window now! Still feeding Bloom nutrients and picking off dead leaves as I find them. Weather is due to get cooler and wetter over the next weeks so will try to keep it going in the greenhouse.
Weather turned cold and wet this week. Plant spent most of the time in the plastic greenhouse. Seem to have gotten lucky and avoided bud rot so far!
Reduced the bloom nutrients as a friend pointed out that the nice purple color was more likely nutrient lockout than a deficiency. Not too worried about it now just riding out the last week or two before harvest.
Wet trim and bucked the buds into paper bags to dry. 166g wet down to 70g dry. Nice easy grow once I got my soil right. Going to leave it a few weeks for a proper cure before trying this one as I got a good harvest from my Northern Lights earlier.
