Velvet Bud is a revamp of Seedsman's original Purple Skunk strain which has been re-fashioned to produce a much smoother smoking experience - hence the new name Velvet Bud which is a close relative of our Purple Bud. Although very smooth it nonetheless packs quite a punch; its powerful effect results in a very laid-back high which happily also has anti-anxiety properties. Although suitable for growing indoors, outdoors and in a green house its 9 week flowering period is somewhat restrictive for outdoors growers except in warmer regions where the October harvest is not adversely affected by the onset of colder, wetter weather.
Velvet Bud's Skunk influence is reflected in the fairly long side-branching and this quality helps to increase the yield which, while not exactly bumper in size, is certainly more than worthwhile especially when taking into consideration the taste and smoothness of the smoke once cured properly.
So I started this been off on Thursday the 6th of December by placing her directly from the packet into John innes seedling and cutting soil, in a 7cm pot and lightly saturated with a small dose of acti-vera! She had surfaced sometime between 3-8am this morning so germination has taken roughly two and a half days! This grow I am going to be using biobizz soil and nutrients, i have ran this strain before and had issues with yellowing early in flower so will probably be adding some soil amendments such as epsom salts and dolomite lime too. I will be topping this lady aswell as doing some low stress training so fingers crossed she does better this time round!
@skidmarx, thanks man, to be honest I normally just tie some string from the branches to the top of my tent, a bit like the yoyo's I guess. Seems to do the job though mate
@skidmarx, thanks mate! To be honest man I appreciate all advice and opinions.. I'm no expert and others might pick up on something I have missed so I'm grateful! Everything has evened out pretty nicely though so far so hopefully I can stay on top of it!
You made lovely choices! Have you thought of dropping your light a bit letting the girls fatten up their stems? I'll be following you regardless! Keep it up!
@skidmarx, yeah mate my plans have changed a little though tbh, I have missed a week out due to getting ready for Christmas with the family ECT but will have up an update today.. I'm sacking the led of for this run and veging under a 400w hps, they have been transplanted into 5l pots now too but where the straw was the stems had started rooting underneath it so I have buried it upto the first set of leaves so that too should help them thicken up a little! Thanks though mate!
