6/28/2024 Started floating the seeds at around 9pm. Allowed to soak for approximately 24 hours. 6/29/2024 Moved seeds to paper towel with a sprinkle of myco. One early pop with a little tail, one with a small crack and looks to be germinated. 7/1/2024 Transplanted seeds to peat plug grow pods. Seedling tent is a 2'x2'x4'. Plan is to transplant into 4'x4' tent once established. One strong seed, one germinated, one doing nothing. 7/4/2024 One seed sprouting super well, the other one may be sprouting but not standing up yet, seed that looked like it was doing nothing is dead. Out of concern for not having two healthy plants I got a cutting from a friends plant just in case. 7/14/2024 Ended up scrapping this attempt after bringing in some bad bacteria from the clone. Lessons learned! Clone was overstressed and went into flower as well. Planning a slightly different sprouting method after germination. Deep cleaning the entire setup and anything that came into contact with the clone. 7/22/2024 Started 3 seeds of RQS royal gorilla in a wet paper towel inside a plastic baggy. Wrapped the baggy in a towel and placed it on a spacer over my router as a DIY heatpad. I kept track of it with my infrared temp gun. The average temp of the wrapped baggy was 74-78 degrees F and was left in this state for about 40 hours. 7/24/2024 All 3 seeds germinated and are already sprouting in the paper towel, they are ready for planting. Utilizing 30mm peat plugs - hydrated with filtered tap water (unadjusted at about pH of 7.5). I ripped small holes in the top of the plug paper and using a letter opener hollowed out a small cavity. Carefully placed the sprouted tails into the holes and squeezed gently to secure the sprout in position. Using LECA or expanded clay balls as support I placed the plugs in the seedling tray and covered them. Placed the seedling setup in the 2x2x4 tent. Exposed to 24 hours of light (30watt LED) so I can set the night hours where I want them in a few days. Currently running a small heater and humidifier with all ventilation closed. Environmental temp: 78-82F, Environmental humidity: 60-80%, Leaf Temp: 84F, Peat temp: 82F. 7/25/2024 All 3 seedlings are sprouted and standing up. Two of them are showing their first leaves after cotyledons. One of them is a bit behind and close to opening up. Looking like a much better start! Placement of one of the sprouts probably could have been better but looks to be rooting in the plug. 7/27/2024 Gave each peat plug about 20mL of water just to keep them hydrated. Daily air cycling of the cover. 7/28/2024 Starting to leave seedling tray cover off to expose plants to a more variable environment. Look to be responding well. Environment temp: 76-80F, humidity: 65-80%. One seedling is slightly behind the others.
