Todzilla This is an outdoor light depravation run on 3 Black Cherry Gelato clones. These were picked up on May 5
I’m running this outdoor light dep grow side by side with my indoor garage grow. Each strain and site is set up to finish beginning of august. After they’re all finished I’ll post an average per strain in both the indoor and outdoor sites. That is, if I finish….

I decided to go for a light dep grow and avoid the 100 degree days in September. I’m also trying to avoid moths and caterpillars, which frequently lay at night. These are outside during the day and placed into a closet at night.
I have multiple issues to deal with: light leaks, high humidity and ventilation in the closet. Now that they’re getting bigger, space in the closet is also an issue.
Growing outdoors is easy, hand watering is a pain. I have some pumps and drip systems but moving them every morning and evening makes that hard to connect and disconnect every time.
So, this is just a test and we will see how things go.
I’m also growing a few purple push pops, both in and out. So check those out.
Best of luck on your grow.

This week we switched nutrient lines across all Grow’s from a General Hydroponics line to Jacks RO, reducing my nutrient mixing by over half. So far I’m quite impressed with the workability and predictive nature (ie ppm/ec and ph) of the solution. My plants seem to love it.
As we are outside we’re dealing with pests and constantly changing environmental conditions. Coupled with stuffing large plants and a small closet make this grow more difficult than usual. I have all the exposure to the pests from the outside, coupled with the indoor high humidity environment of a closet – this is a breeding room for problems.
But we’re chugging along. Big buds are starting to develop, purples are showing up…hairs are getting long - all great signs. The plants look and smell beautiful- pictures just don’t do these beauties justice.
This week the pests arrived in coordination with the bud development. Spider mites and caterpillar larva showed up this week and that put fear in my heart . We dealt with them with 3 days of scouting. We’re good outside on pests so far.
Lots of work ahead. Best of luck on your grow.
Check out my purple push pops inside grow- it’s amazing.Check out my Black cherry gelato indoor
Todzilla This is an outdoor light depravation run on 4 Black Cherry Gelatos. Light deprivation (light dep) means artificially removing a few hours of sunlight. You manually cover your plants (or move inside) to block the sun and only allow 12 hours of sunlight to induce flowering (14 hours of daylight today).
It’s been over 50 days of moving 8 plants (total) 2x a day, and that’s getting old….. but the results are amazing.

This past week we struggled with many issues: heat over 90 degrees; big plants in small 5G coco pots demanding constant feeding. A mislabeled bucket resulting in potassium shock in one plant.
Caterpillars (moths) are the arch enemy of growers in Southern California. And boy did they show up. 1cm long little fu€&ers. I got over 30 this week. That’s over 30 budsites removed. I’m using BT, so it’s being managed, but damn, that’s a lot of cats.
Buds are just stacked. Plants are leaning from their weight. Some limbs have fallen over from the weight. I would usually net and stake to hold the buds- but that’s difficult when you have to move them 2x a day.
Check out my Black cherry gelato inside grow. I’d say the black cherry gelato is yielding much more outside than inside.
Check out my purple push pops indoor and outdoor grow. Both indoor and outdoor PPP grows are showing the purples. Both indoor and outdoor are looking to yield a medium amount - but very high quality.
We’re harvesting the indoor grow now - it’s amazing. We will compare quality and yield across these 4 grows next month.
Best of luck on YOUR grow!!!
Todzilla My harvest is well over. This was a light dep run on 6 plants. On my 3 black cherry gelato (BCG), I started with 3 plants and one succumbed to both shock and caterpillars, one I fresh froze early into hash and one plant at about 14 oz dried and cured. Both the surviving plants were hit hard by the cats and my yield is about 50-60% of what it could have been.
But that’s growing in SoCal.
I really liked the outdoor BCG, it kept its terp profile well past 8mos from harvest.
The hash was mixed with my PPP outdoor hash. TBH, the hash is so potent, I can’t really use it that much. I’ve probably smoked 7g over 8 months and still have over 46-50 grams of hash left.
I’m writing this about 9 months after I harvested. I harvested about 50 jars total inside and outside as well as a 2oz temple ball of hash.
I still have 19 of 50 jars left and 48g of hash left after 8-9 months. Not to mention a good 6lb of trim.
