Germination and Early Days
Planting Date: 7 days ago
Genetics: Auto Olympia by Pyramid Seeds
Germination Method:
For this attempt, I used the direct-to-pot method and covered the seed with a humidity dome. This approach proved successful as one seed managed to sprout and emerge. However, I've faced significant difficulties with this strain. Out of four seeds, only one sprouted; the others exhibited an issue where the radicle emerged within the seed capsule but lacked the strength to unfold and open the cotyledons. This problem persisted even under a humidity dome.
Ambient Conditions:
Daytime Temperature: 26ºC
Nighttime Temperature: 10ºC
Substrate:
I'm using a custom live/organic mix in 15-liter pots, designed to provide a balanced nutrient profile and excellent drainage for healthy growth throughout the cycle. The substrate mix includes:
Bone meal
Yoorin Ekosil (potassium and silica from rocks)
Earthworm humus
Vegetable soil
Chicken manure
Isopod compost
Coconut coir
Organic matter
Perlite
Observations:
This mix is aimed at fostering a rich, nutrient-dense environment for the plants. Despite the challenging temperature fluctuations, I'm hopeful this robust substrate will support healthy growth. The successful seedling was planted directly in the pot 7 days ago, while the curled-up seedling has been in the pot for 5 days after germinating using the floatation method in a cup, which is my usual approach.
Challenges:
Out of 4 seeds, only one successfully sprouted using the direct-to-pot method with a humidity dome.
Other seeds showed early radicle development but failed to open cotyledons, even under consistent humidity.
Next Steps:
Monitor the successful seedling closely for further growth.
Attempt to germinate the remaining seed using a refined method to ensure better success rates.
Feelings:
I am pleased to have one seedling successfully growing, but it's frustrating to face germination issues with this strain, similar to older seeds of Tutankhamon Auto. The hope is that the robust substrate mix and careful monitoring will lead to a healthy plant.
Hey! Nice to see your work! Looks amazing.
Keep on doing ur thing, good luck with all future grows!
