17.08. Day15 - New week , not much changed
We got here ....
Its the Topping of my 1st Grow , Older Girl , Nirvana Hawaii Maui Waui
Cutting was in Water about 30 Days
After about 30 Days , I saw Roots ๐
And put the clone into Soil
The cutting did well on the start , but was a bit bleached by just living in water
The Roots are planted in the middel with Growing Soil for Seeds,
This Soil has only very less organic Fertilizer Substances
so the Water Roots do Not get damaged. ๐
Outside of the middel , there is Vegetable Soil which is natural, organic Fertilizer in the Soil. ๐ช
And On Top, as Cover there is Ibaraki Akadama Bonsai Soil Japan, small grain. ๐
The Cutting does not have much hight, so the leafs are close to the ground ๐
After a few days in full sun , she did become more bleached and brown Tips
Since then I gave less water and took her out of the direct sunlight
Till today not much changed , she is still surviving , got juice , but looks very bleached and lifeless.
18.08. Day16 - Cloudy and no changes
The cutting still got problems ๐ญ
but also not dying that fast ๐
lets give her some time ๐
19.08. Day17 - Looking bad, but I think its growing
Today was a bit more sun ๐
The cutting still looks so bad ๐ญ
But I think the cutting did grow a tiny bit ๐
what gives some hope. ๐
20.08. Day18 - looking still bad , a bit growth
Was cloudy today and colder๐ญ
The cutting still looks so bad ๐ญ
We can see some growth I think ๐
21.08. Day19 - She got Growth in the middle I think
I think she is growing ๐ฒ
I am still not sure , but it lookAlikA Growth ๐ Gleetings my Flinds โ๐
So the leafs will turn back normal too, I hope ๐
Still some less water and not so extreme light, for revive โ๐
I should have measure , now she is 1,5cm ๐๐ come on go go go ๐
22.08. Day20 - She is still bleached
But holding on for long ๐
So I think she will make.๐
23.08. Day21 - Cloudy Day
Not much Sun ๐
She still not going full green ๐ญ
@kohlrabi, No , I can not check PH , but it should be OK, its the same Soil as on the other plants, no fertilizer added, water also the same
it should be a bit over 6.5 in PH I think.
I do not know whats wrong its weird , she is growing but also looks like she is dying.
I can only guess , maybe its the water roots do not get a long in soil plus the hot sun, but i can be wrong.
Today she looks even much more worse, picture coming soon.
@kohlrabi, Ja glaube auch, am Anfang dachte ich halt die lebt nicht mehr lange ๐ญ
weil sie so schlimm aussah , aber sie ist noch immer saftig und hat genug , so grade.๐
Darum lass ich sie jetzt erstmal mit was weniger Wasser und kein extrems Licht sich weiter erholen.๐
@kohlrabi, Yes I hope it will grow, thanks Kohlrabi
Its my 1st Cutting try of Cannabis , I only know how to do Bonsai Cuttings.
Ibaraki is a City Prefecture Region North of Tokyo in Japan , where the Soil is coming from.
And Akadama ?
Due to volcanic activity, Japan enjoys rich volcanic resources. After volcanic eruptions, volcanic rocks and pumice accumulate near the volcano. Several horticultural products based on these materials have been developed in Japan, two of which are the Akadama and kanuma soils.
Akadama is a naturally occurring, granular clay-like mineral used as soil for bonsai trees and other container-grown plants. It is surface-mined, immediately sifted and bagged, and supplied in various grades; the deeper-mined grade are somewhat harder and more useful in horticulture than the more softer, shallow-mined grades. Akadama may also act as one component of growing medium when combined with other elements such as sand, composted bark, peat, or crushed lava. The color darkens when moist which can help the grower determine when to water a tree. Also that it is Grainy Soil , the roots getting more Oxygen, what is good for roots and the plant and the roots will not rot so fast. It does cost more , but when its not contaminated you can use it again and you can use it for a very long time , a lot of soil you need to replace after a time because its dead or too much contaminated, but Akadama can stay as soil for some years. And as Top layer it helps also against fungus gnats (Trauermรผcken)
Components include silicon dioxide SiO2 42.7%, calcium oxide CaO 0.98%, magnesium oxide MgO 2.5%, manganese oxide MnO 0.15%, iron oxide Fe2O3 8.4%, and aluminium oxide Al2O3 25.1%.
Akadama has a pH of 6.9 and conductivity of 0.052 ms/cm.
Nice, I normally clone my first topping as well. I usually make a diagonal slit at the bottom and dip it in some rooting powder. I then stick it in the soil and place a clear dome over it which I spray with water and in about a week's time I get some roots. I tried the leaving it in water but I'm never successful that way ๐
@KushClicks, Nice, OK I got no powder,
Its my 1st try of a cannanis cutting , so it was a lot of days in water start getting bleached
then I put it into soil, but made the mistake to set it in a very hot sun was burning and I think I did a bit too much water.
Your cutting do stay green ? Or do they bleach too after a while and and revive ?
Early stage, fertilizer is no good. Be patient and let the root grow.
With small root, plant can not take in fertilzer.
If you want for plant to look better, spray plant with calcium and magnesium. But this risk killing the plant by over feeding.
For me, I make my own cal/mag solution. I use about 1 grams of calcium nitrate (CaNO3) and 1 gram of Epsom salt (MgSO4) in 1 liter of water. Then spray the plant once a week. Calcium is an "immobile" fertilizer. And it gets in the plant by spray.
Also be careful not to have soil too wet. Root will rot in wet soil. Good luck
@Med_in_Tropic, Yes Thanks ๐
The plant is bleaching, but does not look and feel dry at all ๐
I did re-check the soil is a bit wet, will let it dry a bit ๐
There was no fertilzer and cutting stand a long time in water, over a week or so ๐ณ
yea there might be missing minerals come to stress now by the re-potting
I will keep the cutting like this and will see if its getting better , with a bit less water
lets see , ..... if not, i need to do a bit minerals. ๐
Sur les photos on voit que le substrat est trรจs humide. Les pierres dessus sont luisantes. Il faut laisser sรฉcher le substrat pour que les racines respirent.
My survival rate these day is about 2/3rd. Key is to use fatter branches. Rooting gel helps plant to have more and bigger root to start with. With rooting gel, cuttings starting period is much shorter. Save about a month of growing time. But again, using fatter branches is the key. Then, scraping the skin around an inch from the lower section of the branches helps a little.
