Speedrunseeds Autoflowers to the MAX - 5x5 maxed out autopot grow!
Introduction as this grow has already been running for a few weeks, I just had the idea to open the diary:
I was sick and tired of all these forced Biobizz advertisements, all the whacky RQS advertisements here and there with stolen strain names and bad genetics, I wanted something a bit more special and trustworthy, from true breeders who enjoy their craft & aren't just a huge advertising business who happen to sell basic white label trash seeds like RQS does. So I decided to go for Speedrunseeds this time, in combination with Autopots, coco/perlite, and basic Canna Coco nutrients. I wanted it simple, easy, and without having to do.. anything at all. Refilling the reservoir every 3-5 days is amazing, I literally have to spend 20 minutes of my time every few days to do something & that's it already. No LST, no topping, just light leaf tucking in the beginning, and 1-2 defoliations later on.
Best decision of my growing hobby ever!

One Granite Haze F5 was germinated a few days earlier, then decided to germinate another 3 seeds. The difference is marginal in the days, the oldest is 5 days older than the other 3 seeds, so I will keep it as ONE, rather than 2 different descriptions here.
Germinated all seeds in solocups, 27°C temp, for 12 hours, smart heating mat applied.
Germinated all seeds in wet paper towel for another 12 hours, 27°C, smart heating mat applied.
Taproot already out by then.
Mixed up coco/perlite 60/40, with plagron coco perlite 70/30 being the main mix, with another 10% of perlite added.
Pre-watered every solo cup with a 400PPM solution of Calmag and Canna A+B at 5.8PH.
Added germinated seeds into the cups, added Great White Myco on top and on the seed, watered another 20ml, put a ziplock bag on each cup with some holes in each bag.
Threw into the tent with heating mat applied at 26°C, until sprout.
After sprout, I removed the ziplock bags, and counted day 1.
After 3 days, the first watering will be applied. No watering from insertion of seed until 3 days post sprouting.
First watering 500PPM (1.0EC) of Calmag + Canna A/B until runoff.
Raising EC by 0.1 daily, watering once a day until day 6-7, then TWICE a day until runoff.
With each watering, raise EC by 0.1, until you reach around 1.4-1.7EC final.
3 days post sprout, first day of watering til runoff now. First watering will take around 80-100ml until runoff, as the cups dried out a bit. Afterwards it will take around 30ml for each cup to get runoff daily.
Around day 9 after sprout. This is where I already decided to throw them into the Autopots, as I thought the problems might be caused by the tiny solo cups. It was my own fault though, as I didn't use enough calmag.
I am running RO water, and 0.4EC of calmag wasn't nearly enough. They wanted 0.6EC of just Calmag + 1EC of Canna A/B.
Transplanting into Autopots 3.9gal / 15L:
Adding coppersheet into Autopot, then Airbase. Add straight coco into the base, 1 handful to fill all the wicking holes.
Add coco perlite mixture.
Pre-water every autopot pot until heavy runoff with the same solution you watered your plants with last time, in my case 1.7EC at 5.8PH
I added Azobacter this time as a trial attempt, also Great White on the rootball of each plant.
Add plant into the pots.
Wait 3 days after watering to let the roots seek more substrate.
After 3 days, water once daily til runoff, in my case 3-4L for each pot, every day.
Keep this up for a few days / around a week, then turn autopots on.
Autopots have been turned on, around day 16-21 for these plants, including the oldest one on the top right.
Autopot reservoir has been filled with 10L of nutrient solution:
0.6EC of Canna Calmag Agent
1.1EC of Canna A+B
Still Magnesium damage, but it will slowly go away.
Everything is going wonderfully now.
EC still around 1.7EC
I now raised reservoir to 20L of solution, as they drink a lot now. It takes around 4 days for the reservoir to go down to around 2L of solution left, which I discard.
I added a wavemaker into the bottom of the reservoir, mixing the nutrient solution 4 times a day for 15 minutes each time.
Plants are getting around 300PPFD at 24/0 Cycle
The plants are slowly exploding in growth, immensely. Speedrunseeds are crazy autoflowers, seriously. Absolutely crazy.
No problems so far, everything is healthy and happy. Still 1.7EC, 5.6PH in the reservoir. Temperatures always around 25-28°C, humidity 60-70%. PPFD around 350 at 24/0 cycle.
Plants are jumping into stretch + flowering now.
No training, no LST, no topping, NOTHING. They just grow like this. Yes, I'm not lying.
But - Leaf tucking has been applied. Does that count as very low low stress training? Maybe, but it does its job.
Even though no LST or anything is wonderful, I had to defoliate. Too bushy, too many leaves, plants are just way too freaking big. I can't control them anymore.
EC around 1.9 now, Calmag still 0.6EC + 1.3EC of Canna A+B.
Everything is wonderful. Remember, this is a 4x4 tent / 120x120 tent. And yes, it's only 4 autoflowers.
Speedrunseeds + Autopots + Coco. It's a brickwall of destruction with these combined.
Lowered EC, as I noticed light nutrient burn on all plants. I am now running 1.7EC again, 0.6EC Calmag in it. PH still 5.6-5.7 in the reservoir.
I changed from Canna Calmag Agent to Grotek Calmax, because Canna has 6 Nitrogen in it, which is a lot for flower. Grotek only has 2N, and extra iron. It's a welcome bonus!
Plants are now smelling big time. One Granite Haze F5 smells like sugar glazing, mixed with lime juice & gas. The other GHF5 smells rather skunky, basic, with a hint of burnt tires. The two Acid Snows smell like a mint cocktail, mixed with burnt tires & gas.
Big changes soon:
Switching to a 5x5 / 150x150 tent, because these 4 Speedrunseeds Autoflowers are maxing out the 4x4 / 120x120 tent to the brim. No space, every plant is squeezing against each other, the walls are filled with budsites squishing against it, the risk of mold is just too high. I apparently calculated the needed space in RQS Autoflowers, because around 10 of them would easily fit in a 120x120 tent, with enough breathing space. I thought it's more than enough for 4 speedrunseeds autos then. I was wrong. Absolutely wrong.
To that, new 6" ventilation from Spiderfarmer. Will arrive soon.

Update 6th of August, 2024:
New 5x5/150x150 tent arrived! My autoflowers finally have some space again & can breathe. To that, new 6" inline fan kit, which moves WAY more air than the 4", never expected it to be that much stronger, but it is. What a beast.
Some problems here and there, two plants are yellowing while it's still way too early.
Otherwise everything's good so far. I'm now going fully sterile, in case the roots might be rotting for the two problematic plants. It might slow everything down enough to let them finish, or even remove the rot. Noticed a fart smell coming from one of the pots, so just making sure. Also changed to 20/4 cycle. EC lowered to 2EC and will keep it that way, now with PK13/14 added. No more canna boost, no more cannazym.
PH kept at 5.5 for now, letting it rise to 5.7 here and there. Also defoliated the biggest auto for some better air circulation. Added a third fan, this time on the floor, to keep lower canopy ventilated too. PPFD around 800 at 20/4 cycle.
Estimated harvest in around 20-35 days.
One plant "lost" to budrot, luckily the only one which was 5 days older than all other 3.
Budrot on 3 main buds, very early stages, noticed rather quickly as I'm a very alert person with stuff like this. Lost around 10% of infected and healthy material, and harvested early on around day 73. I lost around 2 weeks of weight gain & ripening with the early harvest, but I had to do it for the good of the other 3 plants.
Infected plant was a Granite Haze F5, quick dry with wet trim to avoid more mold / rot. 5 days of drying at 20°C and 65% humidity, and light breeze of air. Final dry yield was 205g dry out of the second smallest autoflower here. Currently still in its curing stages, still a hay-ish smell to it because of the emergency dry, but I slowly get peppery notes, mixed with liqourice & ass. Yes it stinks.
All other 3 plants are good so far, but this week doesn't have lots of images.
Day 81 as of today, or 82? Honestly I have no idea anymore, let me check quickly.
Okay, day 82 it is. The smallest leftover Granite Haze F5 Autoflower is pretty much ready to harvest, but I have to let her chill for another few days as temps are just WAY too high for drying. I have no AC, I gotta roll with the environment. It's fine though, I'm just in the harvest window & she can easily still take a week.
The other two giant Acid Snow Autoflowers are in their ripening stages, which is why I cut back on nutrients. Went from 2.2EC to 1.6EC now, halfed the dose of A/B nutrients, PK booster is already empty, it's time to slowly smooth it out now. No flush for me, because flushing is for weirdos who are still stuck in 2005. Just lowering nutrient intake to half.
The temps are killing me currently, sometimes up to 31°C in flower. I imagine I have lost quiet a bit of density & trichome production with these shitty temps, but AC is just impossible to run here, way too expensive. That's why winter grows are the best grows, as it's easy to raise temps, but not to lower them.
Estimated yield:
Granite Haze F5 (harvested): 205g dry
Granite Haze F5 (not harvested): Around 100-120g dry, it was the runt of the bunch
Acid Snow (second biggest): Probably around 300-350g dry
Acid Snow (biggest): Around 500-600g dry, gonna join the pound club with this one.
Still sad about the temps, but can't change it. Next run will be way better with temps.
We're hitting 12 weeks with these autos already. One more week for the two larger ones, smaller one will be harvested on Monday the 9th of September, so in around 3 days. Temps will then lower to around 18°C, which is perfect for drying in the next 8-10 days.
So far, everything's good, I can't complain. For sure the 1 pound+ club with the largest one, and still 300+ for the second biggest. Smallest one should be at around 100-120 dry, which is on the smaller side, but still fine.
EC still floating at around 1.5-1.6EC, PH at 5.6 this time, but raising again to around 5.8PH. No flushing or anything, just lowering intake, because flushing is stupid.
