Looks like I’m definitely gonna be harvesting in stages. The low stress BPP is flowering quite a bit faster than the FIM. The blueberry has not even shown signs of bud yet, but it was a week behind initially.
The plants are starting to really show their differences. One is growing a lot more purple than the other. The bud shape seems to be different as well. It’s really interesting how two of the same variety can look so different. The blueberry had some heat related stress and some slight twisting on the leaves so I raised light. This week we’re going over to bloom nutrients only, 3-20-20. This will be the first week under the new light.
This myth comes from trichomes being produced as a defence against UVB radiation, and getting more UVB light penetration onto the buds will absolutely make the plant produce more trichomes and therefore a higher THC potency in the final product. However, where this comes unstuck is the fact that indoor grow lights do not produce any light in the 200-300nm wavelength range, unless it's a specific UV light.
If you want to get more light to lower buds by cutting the leaves above off, don't. Cut off the stem below which is not getting enough light, because it's already further away from the grow light than the leaves above, and anything that is above will give its energy to the buds that it is connected to.
The growth phase is not stopped, the growth is concentrated into flower growth, and the leaves are needed for this. Moral of the story is, biological science tells you the opposite of weed growers old wives tales more than most weed growers can tell you about biological science
Orange hairs abound on one plant. Those are starting to get frosty. Blueberry is going to be an absolute unit. It was getting so dense and bushy that I had to take it out and remove some leaves because I really don’t think it was getting enough airflow. I worry about powdery mildew, I have a damp house in general, so I’m trying to go the extra mile to make sure that I don’t have a problem. Blueberry has a whole lot of buds forming, and will be a longer flowering strain overall. BPP is apparently speedy.
Going in to week 10 and I couldn’t wait any more. My next plants are ready to go in the tent, my timing was off by a week. They could have gone another week. Trichomes were milky with a few amber.
180 off the small plant and 336 off the other. I opted to wet trim, and they’re in the dry tent. Just waiting on Blueberry now.
This was a super easy strain, I’m a little disappointed with the inconsistency between the two phenotypes, but it’s all good.
YallI don’t know what is even going on with this plant. It has no smell. It has almost no frost.
I’ve been thinking all this time that maybe something will happen in the last couple of weeks but so far nothing. It’s straight up smells like grass.
It’s growing side-by-side with two smaller plants that are both stinkier and frostier than this one. I’m so confused.
It’s over. That’s all I have to say about that.
There was something really wrong with this plant and I don’t know what it is. It had no smell, it had no frost, it looked weird. It completely stopped growing about two weeks ago. Speculation on Reddit ranges from it being a photo to it doing some sort of auto reveg. I don’t know, but between that and the mildew problems I was ready just to chop it and be done. It’s in the tent drawing now, and it’s straight up smells like grass. There is not a bit of weed smell to it at all.
Very weird. Very disappointing.
