Hello Growmies,
This week has been quite eventful with both highs and challenges. Here's a quick rundown of the developments:
Stretching Issues: Early in the week, I noticed significant stretching in my seedlings, with some shooting up from 1 cm to 3 cm in just a day. To counter this, I lowered the light to about 25 cm above the tops and dimmed it to around 380 PPFD. Thankfully, this seems to have stopped the excessive stretching.
Watering and Growth: I’ve been diligent with watering, giving each plant about 80 to 100 ml of water with Root Juice, ensuring they are well-hydrated without overdoing it. After watering, the pots' weights increased from under 110 g to 180 g for Plant 1 and 190 g for Plant 2. The plants appear healthy overall, although I did notice a few small spots on the leaves, which I’m monitoring closely. Plant Two (Blue Rubber Band) even starts to show a little scent already.
Environmental Challenges and Solutions: The biggest hurdle this week was the environment. Temperatures on the attic were off the charts, pushing me to relocate the grow tent to a more stable area. Even with the move, I encountered issues with my current fan setup. I’ve now ordered the CLOUDLINE PRO T4, which I’m hoping will provide the quiet and efficient airflow I need.
Transplanting Considerations: I’m still undecided on when to transplant. I’ve noticed the first signs of roots peeking through in one of the pots, and I considered transplanting at the end of this week. However, I decided to stick with the original plan of frequent, staged transplants to promote even root development. So, I’ll be holding off for now.
Learning and Adjusting: After watching some budget tutorials, I’m realizing that my enthusiasm for experimentation is being tempered by the realities of managing a stable environment. But every challenge is a learning opportunity, and I’m adjusting as I go.
Looking forward to seeing how the plants develop in the coming week! Happy growing, everyone! 🌱
