The first day of the Journey started on the 6th of July 2024, when the 4 Seeds get directly into the cheap soil from the discounter nearby, mixed with some Perlite. I can tell you right upfront: I will never ever buy some cheap Soil again, that’s the worst you can do, in my opinion.
Due to overwatering and the cheap soil, the roots began to rod and I had to act fast and put the small seedlings in to the next pot…
But since I'm a beginner and don't have that much equipment and pots yet, I unfortunately had no choice but to plant directly in the end pot (a cheap 15 liter fabric pot).
Slowly the growth picked up a bit and the plants survived the stress caused by the overwatering. I am glad that I reacted early enough so the roots were able to develop properly and did not fall victim to the mold. At any point I’m just watering, when the soil is dry to the touch and the pot feels light.
The next week passed without any major incidents, the plants were watered as required and were able to concentrate on their growth. Unfortunately, the 160 watt lamp cannot be dimmed and therefore always ran at 100%.
The plants got a little bigger every day and I spent a lot of time in the growroom, despite having very little work to do.
In my opinion, the Hesi Bio Grow fertilizer helped the plants to grow a little, but more and more fungus gnats came along, which is why I tried to contain the problem with yellow tablets. In addition, the plants were now ready for the first topping.
In the 5th week of vegetation I unfortunately didn't have much time to look after my ladies because of work and my family life. Watering was the only thing I managed to do. But I had the feeling that all the plants reacted well to the topping and recovered well from the training.
All the plants were now growing in width and you could literally watch them grow. Unfortunately, it was very warm in the tent during the entire vegetation phase and this caused the fungus gnat problem to increase. The money boards were completely full of the annoying beasts. So I did some research on the best way to combat them and probably came across the solution: nematodes. So I ordered some, but unfortunately overlooked the delivery time of 2 weeks...
Now the plants began to explode and completely take over the tent. I was just waiting for my outdoor autoflower plant to finish maturing so that I could change the light cycle from 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness to 12 hours of light, 12 hours of darkness.
Then the time had actually come and I wanted to give the ladies the signal that they could start growing flowers, when I suddenly noticed strange leaf tips on 2 different plants. Unfortunately, no one could tell me exactly what kind of deficiency or problem my plants had, so I decided to start the flowering anyway.
Just in time for the start of flowering, I was able to get my dream LED from Spiderfarmer, the Spiderfamer G3000 with 300 watts, cheaply and was not disappointed. The new lamp illuminates the 100x100 tent very well and looks 10,000 times cooler. 😎 At the start, the lamp remained dimmed to around 75% of the 300 watts, which meant around 225 watts.
