Week 3 from seed begins!
Both had a great week last week with no deficiencies noted, tolerated the increase in EC, adding additional leaves and moving out of the seedling stage into early vegetation. Leaves were just at the edge of the seedling bags. Temps avg last week - 26.8C, 64%. Expect humidity to raise due to large 19L pots.
Transplanted both into final pots. Coco was prepped with PH/EC solution prior to transplant. Seedling bags were cut away and seedlings transplanted off-center for LST training. Changed to Veg feeding ratios, added CalMag to dilute to EC.
Considerations for the week -
1. Continue to slowly increase EC as tolerated
2. Slowly increase light intensity and lower height. *(Veg 35-40cm, 60-90%)
3. LST vs Topping later this week. Want to give them time to adjust to the new containers.
4. BD has a lighter colored "vein" in one leaf, it does not appear to be getting worse and new growth appears normal, will monitor. ***Most likely a nutrient splash.
31-8-2024 Day 15. BD 6 cm in height, slightly ahead by a day and a node, working on 4th set of leaves. PH 6.26, EC 1120. SD 8 cm in height, behind by a day and a node, working on her 3rd set of leaves, visually she is larger in width and height. PH 6.23, EC 1130.
1-9-2024 Day 16. PH 6.0, EC 1080, 2l each to ensure good saturation of coco, run-off great. Decreased light height to 47cm, increased to 50% dimming, continue to lower height and increase the dimming. No stunting noted with transplant into final pot yesterday, growth continues. Will increase EC tomorrrow.
2-9-2024 Day 17. PH 5.96, EC 1140. 1.5L each to ensure good saturation of coco, run-off great. Decreased light height to 40cm, increased dimming to 55%. Growth continues. 26C/81% OK with extra humdity for now. Added yellow trap to each fabric pot.
3-9-2024 Day 18. PH 6.06, EC 1160. 1.5L each to ensure good saturation of coco, run-off great, will try 1L. Light dimming increased to 60%. LST started on BD with support to base stem, will start SD tomorrow. 26.3C, 80%. Started dehumidifier in room.
4-9-2024 Day 19. PH 5.96, EC 1140. 1L each with great run-off. Lights at 40cm & 60% Dim. Adjusted LST on BD. LST started on SD with stem support. SD is a bit taller. 26.4C, 76%.
5-9-2024 Day 20. PH 6.06, EC 1175. 2L each with great run-off, will lower volume tomorrow, concern with coco drying out. light 40 cm, dimming increased to 65%. Adjusted LST on both plants and will adjust later this evening, branches are developing. 26C, 69%.
6-9-2024 Day 21. PH 5.96, EC 1190. 2L each with great run-off. Lights 40cm, dimming increased to 70%. Adjusted and added to the LST for both. Branches are developing well and should be able to begin LST on new branches. Height on both around 9cm. Using 2.3x (50%) nuts, with 1.5ml cal mag in 4.2L to get around 1190 EC. Pro Roots stopped, wanted to feed for a few days post transplant.
Week 3 from seed draws to close seeing both plants move from seedling to veg stage. Very pleased and excited by the growth, good color and no deficiencies noted this week! LST training started and both plants responding well to training by begining to develop branches off the main stem. BD is bushy with short internodal spaces and reminds me of my last grow with Strawberry Gorilla; SD has focused on height with more spacing between nodes showing her satvia background. SD is my first plant that has demonstrated a more sativa influence so it will be interesting to watch her develop with my LST attempt.
Next week's plan
1. Continue LST and begin to spread out the new branches
2. Increase EC as tolerated
3. Increase light dimming (60-90% veg)
4. Watch for signs of flower later at the end of next week.
Beautiful looking plants!πππ½ They looks super healthy and the growth rate is perfect!
Was looking at your dairy since day one, love your detailed explanation!
We share similar grow styleπ½
Was wondering how do you like the dualpart series form terra aquatica?, I use their tripart for some time now.. Wondering if it'll be easier to use the 2 part one
Good luck and have fun growing brother π±
@1_Plant_Wonder,
Thanks again for your kind works of support, much appreciated as a new grower. These two have been an amazing experice to date!
I have used both the tri-part and dual part coco now on two grows; The 3 vs 2 bottles does simplify the process and I am likely to purchase the dual part coco again when these bottles run out. With my water and autos I run ~40% strength nutrients at ~1200 EC using the dual part coco.
I had also considered the Canna line as they are also a two bottle setup and there are some examples of sucessful plants with Canna.
Been following along with your Purple Punch as it is on the list to grow in the near future...
Take care and enjoy the journey! π
@SwissKush,
I am hoping for some face melting! π΅π Thanks for the feedback, I still cannot believe they are mine! They smell great.....getting closer.
Plants looking fantastic!ππ½
Once most trichomes becomes cloudy, it won't be long before the amber starts to appear, and then flushing, so if you think you're a week /week and a half before that stage, start with final part;)
(Usually terra recommend 10 days of final part before flushing, but with autos everything is faster, so a good week of final part will do to my opinion)
But MY question is, would you continue using Calmag along with finalpart? Or not..? That I truly don't knowπ
Good luck! π
@1_Plant_Wonder,
I think the Sour Diesel is ~2wks from finishing based on other diaries with coco/ hydro/similar size. I was thinking FinalPart for 12 days and then 2 day FlashClean followed by ~ 2 days of water flush to run-off EC the # escapes me, but based on cocoforcannibas recommendations.
Good question on the CalMag and FinalPart. Both plants have minor rust spots. TA on the Coco formulas suggest no additional CalMag is needed, and I think FinalPart would be the same. My experience is even buffered coco with a specific coco fertilizer formula still needs CalMag added to any water you use to dilute to get your EC. Now with FinalPart you are basically just feeding bloom nutrients. Would not adding CalMag block some other needed micro nutrient during the final 2 weeks of flower? I don't know, but someone on the forum would perhaps. For now since there is already some signs I was planning to add it to the next feritgation with any water used to dilute to EC. I was thinking I could always fade it over the next week or so.
There are a few trichome pictures of SD at end of week 10. Mostly cloudy and some clear. I will grab some more photos with the USB microscope camera tomorrow. It is a challenge to get good photos..
