Blue Dream proved to be a resilient strain despite the many challenges encountered. Even with an acidic medium, calcium deficiency, and nutrient lockout causing elevated PPM, the plant continued to grow and develop. While the flowering phase didn’t go as smoothly as hoped—partly due to these issues—the plant still managed to produce dense buds. The provisional yield came in at 1532g (branch, leaf, and bud), with the final dry bud weight to be updated once drying and trimming are complete.
Overall, the strain was fairly easy to grow, even though there were struggles. Its ability to keep going despite all the complications was impressive. Despite the difficulties, the plant’s robust nature made it a good choice for learning how to troubleshoot and recover from mistakes.
The Jack’s nutrient line made feeding easier due to its simplicity. With fewer products to mix, it was quick to prepare, and the scoopable measurements were far more convenient than syringes. This streamlined the process and made feeding more manageable, especially during the recovery phase.
However, I can’t fully assess the impact of Jack’s nutrients on plant health, as I switched to them when the plant was already stressed. While they didn’t seem to improve things drastically, the plant didn’t suffer from them either, so they appear to be effective without being harmful.
The Viparspectra V600 performed well throughout the grow. It kept temperatures in check and provided the necessary light intensity for growth. However, the purple spectrum made it difficult to assess the plant's true colors, particularly the trichomes and leaf color. While the direct light caused some leaves and buds to develop a rich purple hue, it was hard to distinguish whether this was due to the strain’s natural phenotype or mold. Despite this, the light did its job and didn’t cause any major issues.
While the tent has worked well overall, I’m starting to notice the reflective material peeling off near the edges and corners. It’s not a huge problem yet, but something to watch for future grows. The height of the tent, though, remains a challenge, especially after the flowering stretch. It became cramped quickly, which made managing the plant a bit difficult.
This week, I began the harvest process with two rounds of water + FloraKleen, followed by a final flush with just water. The plant spent 36 hours in complete darkness before harvest. The buds showed lovely purple hues where they were exposed to light, while the rest of the plant had more green and amber tones. The smell was pleasant, like woolong tea, and there were no signs of mold.
The buds are now drying in the tent with fans circulating the air and the exhaust fan running at a lower speed to maintain humidity. I’m monitoring the conditions carefully with a hygrometer to ensure proper drying.
Despite the challenges with acidic medium, nutrient lockout, and high PPM, the plant pushed through and delivered a decent provisional yield. These issues taught me important lessons—mainly the need for fresh soil and new fabric pots.
Overall, the grow was a valuable learning experience, and I’m looking forward to applying these lessons to future grows.
Looking good there , I've got some bd on the go aswel and have had some deficiency and quite high runoff ppms from them in biobizz light mix even without using hardly any nutes yet and going into week 6, I've just repotted mine into final 20l containers with biobizz all mix so will be giving plain water with calmag for the next 2 weeks until they show me some signs but they are looking alot better now i got ppm runoff 👇
