I planted seeds directly into peat moss cups filled with an organic potting soil mix. I don't use these peat moss cups anymore because I don't want to give the roots any resistance. However, they did break through just fine once I transplanted them.

Transplanted into final pots. I used what I had available at the time as you can see! The most vigorous seedling went into the 7 gallon trash can. All hail Trash Queen! Soil - Organic potting soil, Compost, perlite. (Not cannabis specific potting soil - I just used an organic raised bed mix since I had extra). PH - Did not start PH yet. The water from my tap is around 8.5. Training - none yet but starting LST on some plants next week.

Letting the girls do their thing. They seem to be enjoying the heat and the sunlight :) The weather was great up to this point, very sunny and humid. Top dressed with grass clippings and compost. Watering with plain tap water, aiming to keep the soil moist but never soaked or bone dry. I sprayed the plants with Neem Oil and sprinkled diatomaceous earth over the soil. This was done as a preventative measure to ward off pests.

I picked up some Gaia Green and began a light top dressing. Due to starting with compost, I wasn't sure how much nutrients my plants needed, so I did a combined feeding of 1 tablespoon per gallon between the 4-4-4 and 2-8-4. Sorry I did not take more pictures, this is the closest I had for the week.

I started putting the girls into a greenhouse at night for cover. It was starting to rain and this made it easier to let them get light while keeping them protected. I installed a small box fan above them for circulation. It was too hot on sunny days so I brought them outside during the day. Flowers are starting to go crazy!

Into the third week of flower, the buds started to fill out more as little white pistils continued to sprout vigorously. Have not added any more nutrients since the Gaia Green in pre-flower. I am weary of overwatering and over-feeding, so I am starting slow to learn the ropes.

I gave the girls one final feeding of the Gaia Green Power Bloom. Unfortunately, I started to notice spider mites on two of my plants. You can see their bites which are the white spots on the top of the leaf. Then with the magnifying lense you can see the little reddish-brown spider mites. Treatment - I used a combination of physical removal with painter's tape and sprayed the infected plants with a fine mist of peppermint oil diluted in water. It is not recommended to spray neem/peppermint oil on your flowers, so I tried to avoid spraying on the flowers directly and soaked the leaves instead. I felt it was worth the risk. I treated again with peppermint oil ~4 days later.

Flowers are bulking up and I started to keep a close eye on the trichomes. I noticed a majority of milky trichomes with about 25% clear, and the hairs were turning orange. Just a few weeks left to go! Spider mites died off and came back again. I chose to use painter's tape to try and circumvent damage long enough to get them to harvest. I also noticed signs of powdery mildew on the plant in the white pot. I cut off all of the affected leaves I could see. NOTE - if you see a thick white powder in the soil and on the leaves, that is diatomaceous earth that got wet.

It's about time to harvest! The smell is very strong! Like gassy melon and tropical fruits.

That's a wrap!!! The plants hung in a shower upside down for 10 days. (I cut down the entire plant in one piece and take off large fan leaves only). I have the buds curing in Grove Bags. A few days in and the faint smell of hay has gone away. Opening the bag is a Chuck Norris kick to the nostrils followed by a snort of pine and melon scented smelling salts. Thanks for checking out the grow my friends. The next one (indoor Mephisto grow) is already underway 😎👉
