Coming off a less than ideal organic grow due to extreme summer temps and over-lollipopping on my part. So this, my third grow is to fix my mistakes and grow a monster yield :) I have decided to stay with organic nutrients, with 4 plants in my tent instead of 1. This time I will minimize training and will not top at all, and also plan not to defoliate unless a very good reason presents itself. I also added 4 x 15w side lighting to comp the main HID light, which is a good source of heat coming into winter. Update: 2 days later, and these buckos are ready. It's night time, so I'm left with a choice. Wait until morning to plant them, or plant them now. I decided to plant them, but to leave them in their spot in the warmth on the heater with very light heat, And in the morning I will put them under the lights on a 18-6 cycle. I honestly hate the part of transplanting seeds to pot from paper towel. My only hope is that it's good enough. One of these seeds is even showing leaves. Ok, I planted it and hope for the best. It's also clear that one of these does not have a formed tap root. I still planted it. I also found an extra phantom seed with a tap root, I have no idea how it happened, but I must have made an error somewhere, or it's just part of the seed without the tap root. Nonetheless I planted it and let's see what happens. Either it works out, or I work with fewer plants or plant more seeds.

So transplanting the seedlings didn't go great. While the first 2 plants came through quickly, the others were not seeing the light, and I was wondering if something had gone wrong. I decided to find the seedlings, and sift through the pots, the acapulco gold was looking a bit dead, and I was left with a choice, continue or plant another seed. I decided to plant a new seed since it was really looking a bit beat up. So it's now a Mimosa Evo only grow this time. This time I planted a Mimosa Evo directly in the soil. And the last Mimosa Evo seedling looked a little better, I decided to replant and take a chance on this one. The extra one I planted directly showed quickly enough, but the last one that I replanted took an extra day or two. It's also a chance for me to observe how weaker seedlings perform overall. I don't mind if it's not a super plant. But overall I can say I'm happy at the end of the first week.

I have 4 plants of different sizes now. The only thing to report this week is that the second biggest looks quite unhappy. She has some white dots, and I spotted a few gnats in the tent. I don't really know what to do except focus on keeping the space clean and provide good nutrition so they grow up strong, but it's still too early to start adding anything. It's unusual that it's only affecting one plant. In any case, I will do what I can and hope for the best. Also open to suggestions on this.

All plants came on, however the one just looked plain unhappy the whole time. So, I decided at the end of the week to expedite the first big change, upgrade to a 5 liter pot, and probably around week 8 I will upgrade again to 14L. The reason I do it this way is because last grow I noticed all of the roots were congregating at the bottom of the big pot I was using for the whole grow. I think 30L!! This creates problems with watering and so on, so upgrading in stages is much better. It also is the time when I really super power the nutrition the plants are getting. I have an organic powder fertilizer with bird shit and minerals and so on. Compo Bio with Guano. I just add a little of this. The main mix is Batmix by Plagron, and for extra super duper powers I add fresh worm castings from my worm bin which I feed all manner of kitchen scraps and fallen leaves I collected. So I break this and mix it evenly into the fertilizer. I know Plagron comes pre-fertilized, but in my mind, nothing beats freshly harvested castings packed with vibrant life, powered by banana peels. My kind of fertilizer. I did notice when I was transferring to the new pot, that the roots were starting to become bound, and a lot of pests flew off the unhappy plants roots when I was moving it, I was happy to give it a good new home. Also the roots were more soggy than I thought, so I'm leaving them dry out until I water tonight, after that I will leave them properly dry out again for a few days, and will feed them worm casting compost tea from some of the remaining castings. I also added some clay pebbles to the bottom of the new pots to collect the moisture. And I know it's outside the week scope, but on Day 22, I woke up, and these plants are already looking far happier. I'm going to add these photos now.

This week has seen a total transformation in the plants since repotting. Even the sick one looks much better, even regreening some of those lower leaves. Since I have a 250 W HID light combined with 4 side LEDs, which are quite powerful, they were showing some slight signs of light stress, so I raised the light a good bit, now they seem much happier, eventhough this goes against regular guidelines for light distance, I'm really letting the leaves guide me here. I only watered twice this week.

Another week has passed, and these guys are taking off, and the leaves are looking very healthy indeed. There's still a few gnats around, but not many they don't seem to be affecting the plants much. My fan did blow up this week, so I had to get a new one, not the best fan, but I've found a way to make it work by blocking the entrance somewhat, so we can keep it for now. I made some aerated compost tea with some leftover worm castings. In my experience nothing beats freshly harvested worm castings. This was maybe 2 weeks old, so not as amazing as fresh, but still worth concocting. Add some organic molasses, a small amount of my birdshit fertilizer, A little ph balancing of the water with lemon juice and cider vinegar (as always) to hit 6.5. Drop in a large cloth bag with the castings, aerate for 24-48 hours, and your plants will love you. I had to balance the lights somewhat, still maintaining around 40cm distance from the main light, if the leaves are pointing up too much, I raise the light again. I think another week or two maximum and these will be going into the 14L pots, with plenty more fresh worm castings. Which reminds me, my worms are due a feed.

Near the start of the week, I decided to move these ladies off their pedestal onto the floor, as the comfortable light distance is around 45 cm, given that I have 5 lights in total. I'm a bit worried they're going to be light stressed. I think about another 2 weeks and I'm going to flip them at 55cm. Given that most articles I've read say they can double in height on flowering. I honestly doubt they will double, but I still want to be conservative given how much light I'm using. Near the end of the week, I moved them into 14L pots, their final resting place, I packed it with Plagron Batmix, and freshly harvested fruit-fed worm castings, along with some of my special burdshit powder fertilizer. I think they'll have plenty Calcium because I'm always feeding my worms eggshell powder. Repotting is a stress, and more work than I planned for. My back and legs were hurting the next day. I think I might have been a bit rough with the first plant on repotting, I tried to pull it out by the stem, but I heard some roots breaking, so had to dig it out ... stresses me a bit. And as of today, it's not recovering as quickly from the repotting as the others. But I still have faith that she'll bounce back in a few days. I also didn't have quite enough soil to cover all plants, so I had to make some of mounds for them. I think it's ok. More soil would be ideal, but ok. I also made some attempt to equal out the height of each plant. I left over some castings to make some aerated casting tea on the first week of flower ...

After repotting at the end of last week, it took several days for the plants to bounce back, It wasn't until after the next watering that they started to dance again, but at the end of this week they're looking strong. I adjusted my airflow setup, because my fan is too powerful to point directly at them. Also throughout the grow, the plants were showing signs of thrips, which I had to research. I bought these pretty yellow stickers to take care of that, and caught quite a few, I also had to trim the lower growth on one of the plants. I've also kept the humidity a bit lower than normal, around 45. But they are loving the worm castings in the soil, and showing very vigorous growth, particularly at the end of this week. My target height for the tallest plant is 55cm, now standing around 48, then I flip to flowering. I also will brew a batch of worm casting tea in the next day or so. Also they're showing some signs of mild light stress, leaves pointing up. This is something I'm going to have to continually manage, because eventhough I solidly believe in my corner lights, it is a lot for a small space. I hope they don't stretch too much. In any case I have a good feeling about this lot.

Nothing special to report. I fed them more worm casting tea which they love. I'm always amazed by the leaf color after feeding. At the end of the week I flipped to flowering, and fed more casting tea. Tent is a bit full but they look happy. I'm still seeing thrips, but the plants are strong. They're still a bit light stressed but I'm somewhat confident it's manageable.

All plants showing strong growth, and starting to even out more in height. They're a bit light stressed, but I'm managing it. Still seeing thrips in the tent, but the plants are strong. I did have one accident when one of the side lights fell on a plant. It broke a branch and a fan leaf off, and bent the top, but it recovered fast. At the time I thought I was losing the plant, but these guys are tough.

So, these have grown around 10-15 cm in just one week. I'm hoping this stops soon because the tallest are looking a bit light stressed, and I can't push them up any more. If they get more stressed I'm going to have to turn off the side lights, which would be a shame for the side growth. But let's see, maybe turn those side lights off in the afternoon. They're getting very bushy and are filling up the tent which I like to see. The temptation is there to remove some of the big fan leaves to allow more light to penetrate, but I'm resisting, Since this is my third grow, I want to test different growing conditions and methods. and getting a baseline for plants that are not defoliated using my current setup is important to me. I do find myself arranging the leaves so the bud sites can get through, pushing down some of the bigger fan leaves. The one plant is still a good bit shorter than the others, and has been a bit sick since the start, is hanging in there ok, but showing a few signs of thrips and such. But overall, the amount of thrips seems to be reducing. So, I'm about to feed them more casting tea tomorrow night, and the plan is they explode with flower in every direction. fingers crossed.

So these have continued growing fast, with the result that the tallest is now 100cm, only 30cm from the light. The leaves are still pointing up, which seems to suggest they're light stressed, but not any more than before, and the taller plants are not more light stressed than the smallest, and there is a significant difference in height. At the start of the week I fed them a really rich batch of worm casting tea and they've burst into flower this week, with many bud sites, which is helped by the 15W corner LEDs I added, and they seem healthy aside from the thrips which remain present, though it seems less. I'm just hoping they don't get any taller, so I'm going to feed them unfertilized water this week, and will blast them with more casting tea when they've stopped growing so they hopefully produce a heavy amount of bud. Since the start of the grow I've been rotating their position, so they get even wind and light distribution. So now that they're getting bushy, I'm spending some time adjusting the position of the leaves and branches, though not tying or training them in any way, to optimize the light and make sure the bud sites are coming through, and I'm opening the tent to allow more space for the fan leaves to come out. I still feel like they don't really need to be defoliated, but I will experiment more with that in future grows.

Overall, it's been a good week. The plants are not having any real problems and are flowering very nicely with many bud sites. The side lights are helping with this. The tallest plant has topped out at around 110cm, with the next 2 close to it, and the smallest only about 80cm but still producing plenty flower. I was nervous about them growing much more, but this is just about the limit, 30cm from the light, so I'm happy now they stopped. I fed them plain water this week to slow them down, but now that they stopped I'm ready to fill them with worm castings, which I'm currently prepping and will feed them later before lights out at 7pm. So I'm thinking they're going to produce a lot of amazing bud. I'm hoping for 30g per plant, but let's see.

Just kept everything the same. Fed more casting tea, kept rotating position. The smell is starting to get really thick and rich. Have seen some very decent flower growth, they're really starting to mature, and if the breeder had not said 65 days flowering, I would already be thinking of harvesting, and I'm convinced that it would already be an amazing smoke, that's after 42 days. The hairs are pretty much curled in and turning orange. But the trichomes are still kind of white to be fair, and I really want to get the best quality smoke possible. Guidelines says 3 more weeks, but I'm guessing 2 more because these already seem quite mature.
