Still early days. Didn't have time to mix up a proper living soil mix (perlite, worm castings, compost) so she's in regular potting mix for now.
She got her first homemade aerated worm tea (added guano) last week, with more to come in the next days with worm casting to be added on top.
Already seems like her leaves are big for her age but not sure if she should be a darker green...
Will be using a mix of LST and ScrOG.
Had a busy week so didn't manage to do another worm tea. However the worm casings on top should be doing something meanwhile.
Had another grow to rescue (outdoor, risk of mold due to heavy rains etc.), so that took most of my attention in the free time.
Will do another aerated worm tea brew this week.
Leaves are huge - i did one top because I'm planning the ScrOG net as soon as we have enough branches.
Cleared up the base leaves to allow more airflow since the massive leaves seem to be crowding each other.
Anyone know if this is a good sign? Maybe my lamp is too small and weak....
Finally got around the building up a scrog net. Wanted to use existing materials and it was fun to make.
This is about the time I start questioning the strength of my grow lamp. I want more horizontal/wide growth to make the most of my tiny tent.
I start getting serious now.
High stress, topping, preparing for a nice canopy and defol for maximum airflow and light to the bare branches.
I never throw leaves away since it's a living soil grow and I've used worm castings and aerated worm tea to get those microbes into the soil working! The leaves get broken down and all nutrients go back into the soil. I also regularly water with the diluted organic solution from a generic bonsai fertiliser.
Let's go!
I am about to flip to flower because I have a feeling this one's going to stretch a fair bit.
Plan is to keep tucking for next 2-3 weeks to avoid her taking over the very limited space in my small tent.
Watering (fertilised) didn't need to be super consistent these past 2 weeks since the pot has a reservoir at rhe base, and she wasn't showing any signs of being thirsty.
I'm extremely impressed by the green colour and the size of her fan leaves and thickness of the stem! I believe she's a happy one.
Will consider taking a couple of clones before I flip to flower too...
Going to switch to phosphorus-rich fertiliser mixes in the next week.
Flowers showing up fairly quickly! Only flipped a week ago.
New grow light is working well! Mars Hydro TS1000.
Very happy with how the plant is looking and filling out the scrog net.
Sprinkled some organic powdered bat guano (cal mag) to the topsoil.
Constantly defolliating and tucking in the very tall ones. My goal here is an even canopy at the end with many happy flowers getting even light and airflow.
About to go away for 2 weeks and feeling super nervous about how the grow goes on without me. Hopefully the plant sitters take good care of her!
Bud sites are spaced out nicely and now we cross our fingers.
Was overseas on holidays are reveived these pics from the plant sitter.
As you can see airflow is severely restricted because she grows so bushy!
Couldn't wait to get back and defol to allow more airflow and light for the smaller (hidden) buds underneath.
Leaves are looking very healthy still so maybe I'm doing something right here!
Has it really been 13 weeks? Honestly feels like more!
I removed the ScrOG net because i couldn't get to the back of the plant to defol.
Buds fattened up a decent amount so I'm very concerned about mold risk.
After removing net I was able to spin the plant and really open it up for light/airflow.
At the finishing line soon I'm so excited to try this one!!
Never had a bad batch from RQS thus far!! Stay tuned for the harvest pics :)
