I felt my first grow went ok. Ran into some issues with nutrients when I freaked out over burnt tips and cut way back. I've been reading that a little burning of the tips can be ok, so I should have just kept my cool and maybe lowered the nutrients a smidge. The real kicker is the plant ended up having seeds! WTF! My best guess is the stress from the nutrient issue caused it to herm. With this run I am using one of the seeds, should be interesting. I'm also using one of the AC Infinity nursury bags to see how they work when you can just "plant" them as opposed to transplanting. Also going to try out some Voodoo Juice to see if it works in promoting root growth so that the self watering bases can be used earlier. Wrapped the planter pot with plastic wrap (with holes) as seen from some youtube video to hopefully hold on to the humidity until green appears.
I'm worried the tent is going to be too cold through the winter when the light is not on. Right now during off periods it can get down to low sixties. May end up getting a tent heater.
Ended up topping the main stem(?) on 11/16/24. I plan on doing some more topping to try and get more main colas than my last GDP grow. Still have not purchased a heater, hoping the ac infinity heater goes on sale during black friday/cyber monday. Also started some basic LST.
Got the heater in today, hopefully it can keep things above 70F without running non-stop.
I'm almost to the point where I switched to 12/12 in my last (first) grow. Going to stick around in veg for a bit to try some more topping.
I took advantage of a black Friday deal to snag some cheap Northern Lights seeds, if all goes well with this grow, that may be what I try next....
Going to categorize this grow as "experimental". I went a little topping crazy and have made some questionable choices in defoliation. It might come back to bite my ass, but we are learning right?!?!?!? Worried that it will go past the point of no return before I switch over to flower, but I would like to see some more growth of the topped off-shoots before making the switch. We are almost there....
Switched to 12/12 on 12/6/24. Will be interesting to see how this plays outs. Would have liked to give it some more time after all that topping, but it hit the height limit (in veg to allow for space to double in flower) so I just sent it.
I'm a bit concerned with just how much chaos there is with so much growth everywhere. Perhaps the topping experiment is showing that it isn't best for a confined tent space. Next grow thinking of doing some more extreme LST to keep the plant low and give it time to really mature before having to flip to flower.
The explosive growth continues. Light is as high as it can go. Might consider taking the filter/fan out of the tent to allow for more vertical room in future grows.
I haven't been doing a good job documenting the nutes I'm using. Right now I have been doing 3.5 ml Advanced Nutrient 3 part in 2 Liters of water every 6 days.
2/16/25 - Ended up harvesting today. Probably could/should have waited longer but with how this grow went I just wanted it done. There was just so much foliage that I had to get creative in how I loaded the tent for drying. Hope that doesn't cause any problems. Lesson learned! Next grow I'm going to try some Northern Lights, topping only once when there are 8 nodes (had 10 on the first grow), lots of LST. Will probably wait a few weeks or so to get started, I need to buy a new filter, thinking of getting one of those that you can re-fill.
