I've got me a Wedding Gelato (f) that has been in veg for about 4 months now. I had already taking cuttings from it three weeks ago but my first attempt at cloning failed. I think it was because I used CloneX instead of a powder root hormone. I have done this set up once before with nice results though it was a RQS Mimosa then. Here is my set up: I've got an 8 liter reservoir with nine holes for seedling baskets. Inside there are four airstones connected to 2 air pumps (two each), an aquarium thermostat/heater and a water circulation pump. The reservoir is inside a roll top IKEA Aspvik cabinet that I've stripped of shelves and lined with mylar. My light hangs from a scaffolding I created. Mother is vegging elsewhere. Since my first attempt at cloning the WG failed and was so recent, I put Mother into flower (12/12) for 10 days so she would stretch, which she did. I took my cuttings and put Mother back into veg. I scraped off the bottom, outer layer of the stalk, dipped it into root hormone powder this time and trimmed the leaves and then put it into a net pot so the bottom of the stem stuck out a cm or two and then filled the netpot with leca balls to hold up and stabilize the cutting. I put this into the reservoir lid and covered it with a clear plastic cup to maintain high humidity levels. Repeat for eight other cuttings. I set the timer for the lights at 12/12. The cuttings will be under a constant flowering lighting schedule (12/12) and nutrition regime (once I start feeding) and I hope to grow nine large solid buds. Here is my theory: I've grow DWC before and while it is easy and the results are amazing, the plants just get too big, hit the lights and then freak out (I have a very small and tight grow space). I want to combine the speed efficiency and output of SOG with the power and growth of DWC. By putting the cuttings directly into flower I hope to: 1-- encourage stretching right away so by the time the flowering begins and the stretching stops the cutting will be 2x to 3x in size; and 2-- using DWC nutritional power punch, I'm hoping the buds are fatter and bigger than they would normally be (I had heard somewhere that feeding cattle corn instead of grass was like giving them snickers bars-- they got big and fat fast. I aiming for the same thing here). I had done this set up once before with a RQS Mimosa and the results were really encouraging . I hope WG roots as easily. We'll see. If this goes well I should be able to pull in a good harvest every 8-10 weeks.
