Hello! First diary, let's gooo!
After 2 successful soil grows (with advanced nutrients), I thought it's time to step up my game; mostly due to the fact that I have to leave for 8-10 days 2 times a year and the only 4 month window without july-august is nov-mar.
What's the plan and what is new to me:
- 5x5 tent (150cm*150cm)
- 9 fastbuds autoflowers in 15L (4gal) pots
- 70% coco - 30% perlite (new)
- high-frequency fertigation (new) (150L (40gal) tank + 3000lph (800gph) pump + 9 * 6" Hydro Halos)
- Terra Aquatica nutrient line (new) + taking care of EC (new)
- I want to top all 9 (new)
- Scrog with a very low height (like in the 2nd photo)
- grow them horizontally and try to fill the holes as much as possible
- lst to help with the plan above
I also mostly built everything as you can see; each pot drains into a tray that's on a slope; I drilled a hole in the dray where I sealed a filter washer and a tube that drains into a bucket .. so I have 5 trays that drain into the same bucket, where I have a small pump with which I push the runoff into another bucket that's outside the tent; this way, the bucket from the inside, stays inside.
I am a bit afraid of this, but here we are! so far, 7/9 are out of the medium, one I think should pop-up tomorrow, but I think that one Amnesia Zkittlez out of the 4 planted, will not germinate; luckily, I had another one for backup, so today it went into the glass of water and tomorrow it's in the medium; hoping to not loose the herd. I will update as soon as I have news
What I did so far with the girls
- each seed was placed into a shot glass with some tap water; all shot glasses went onto the same tray, into a small cardboard box (to keep dark), along with a thermometer; this box was placed at the edge of a heating mat designed for seedlings .. I moved the box until the temp settled at 25 celsius (77 fahrenheit)
- after 18 hours, I tapped on the seeds, they went to the bottom
- in 2 hours they went into the coco
update 14 nov
- 8/9 are getting out of the soil, trying to stand up and shed the helmets
- 1x Amnesia Zkittles does not do anything; yesterday I soaked my last seed of Amnesia and it went into the pot an hour ago; I hope she will rise, catch the rest and have only a 2 day-delay; the initial seed is still in the pot, just nothing happens .. I placed the 2nd near the 1st, I hope one will crack
- will probably call tomorrow day 1
update 15-18 nov
- the seed planted later is now up with the gang, the first seed still did not crack, I removed it, and call it a loss; first seed that fails to crack out of 20 fastbud seeds
- I started nutrients, according to the Terra Aquatica feeding schedule; 0.3 EC, root booster and trichoderma (trikologic at 0.1g/L), 100ml per day around the seedling
- thinking about doing 1L in each pot with only root booster and trikologic, no nutes (and away from the seedling), but will probably wait a few more days .. just so the roots will have an easier job in the next weeks
1st and 2nd weeks were pretty rough on both me and the girls .. the story is the following
My old PH pen (Milwaukee), which worked great for 1 year, was stored without solution and I had some PH issues (wrong readings), so I thought 1 year was enough and it's time for a new PH pen; so I bought a BlueLab PH Pen; little I did know, that the new BlueLab PH Pen was damaged (saw after a few days of damage to the girls that the liquid inside the electrode bulb had some contaminant, like dirt inside, I added a photo); on top of this, apparently, the old PH pen hydrated and started to work correctly; so no I had 2 PH pens, one that was working correct and I thought it was wrong, and one new that was damaged but I thought that it should be reliable. The girls felt all this crap, I nearly lost one (Apricot). I returned the BlueLab Pen and got a replacement, and guess what, now I have 2 PH pens that both show the same correct PH. FML. At least the girls are ok. This went also in week 3 for a few days.
Day 19 - Topped 4
Day 20 - Topped 4
One of them took big damage during my PH pen issues and I decided not to top her; She is in the middle at the front door, so I have room to apply some LST.
I also started to feed with the hydro halos (was by water until 2 days ago) 2 times/day, about 1L / run to each; I still have to do some adjustments to the drippers as some get less, but I will get there; As long as I don't get salt build up, I'm happy.
I don't know when it's the best time to start the scrog so in this case, I might as well start now. I'll keep you updated!
Hi buddy, your installation is very pretty, I really want to follow all this 😉✌️
I don't know how big your space is, but I'm a little afraid that you will run out of space very quickly.
I don't know if this is the phenotype I had, but orange sherbet has a very large and very long stretch.
It is the largest in my box and I have enhanced all the others.
I did a topping once and LST, and 4 plants take almost entirely 140x140. Not to mention the height.
I'm going to update my diary tomorrow, I'll take pictures of all this 😉
Hello! thanks for following!
The tent is 5x5 (150x150cm), I think it will get crowded too. I will try to fill the net as much as possible, and will try to find a way to keep the stretch under control, maybe supercropping, depending on how they will perform; I will have time to research ways to keep the stretch under control. The lights that I am using is pretty good (also measuring it constantly and supplying correct DLI for each phase) and the internodal space was pretty tight on my other grow. I was not doing coco with high-fertigation, but the environment and lights should be the same. I hope I can control what's going on, it will be a ride, that's for sure!
I checked your grow, it's tight indeed :D
